1.Research progress in animal models of cholangiocarcinoma
Journal of Shanghai Jiaotong University(Medical Science) 2017;37(3):407-410
Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) is a malignant neoplasm derived from cholangiocytes. The incidence of CCA is only lower than that of hepatocellular carcinoma and ranked the second in liver malignant cancers. The prognosis of CCA patients is poor and most patients will die within a few months after diagnosis. CCA is related to various risk factors, including primary sclerosing cholangitis, cirrhosis, certain chemical agents and liver fluke. Establishment of proper animal models of CCA can not only be helpful for understanding the mechanisms of incidence and development, but also lay a solid foundation for developing novel treatment strategies. Common animal models of CCA include carcinogen-induced models, implantation models, operation models, and genetically engineered models.

Objective To investigate the effect of active silver ions liquids on incontinence of patients with cerebrovascular diseases. Methods Forty-eight patients with incontinence from cerebrovascular diseases were randomly divided into the treatment group and control one in equal number:the control group was managed with washing and cleaning the perineum with warm water in the morning and evening and the treatment group with active antibacterial liquid silver ion liquids in the afternoon once a day.The two groups were compared in terms of red swelling, itching, papula, blister, local shallow ulcer and abscess in the skin around the perineum as well as the incidence of urinary system infections. Results The treatment group had significantly lower incidences of red swelling, itching, papula, blister, local shallow ulcer and abscess in the skin around the perineum as well as the incidence of urinary system infections,as compared to the control group(all P<0.05).Conclusion Cleaning perineum with active silver ions liquids is effective for the prevention of infections in the skin around the perineum and urinary system infections.

Objective To evaluate the effect of health education on blood glucose level in patients undergoing renal transplantation. Methods Two hundred and four patients who underwent renal transplantation were randomly assigned to the control group(n =102)and the intervention group(n =102).Participants of the control group received traditional health education, and those in the intervention group received general health education.Food intake, physical exercises.disease-related knowledge, treatment satisfaction, fasting plasma glucose and 2 h blood glucose were assessed at 6 months. Results Daily diet, physical exercises,disease-related knowledge, treatment satisfaction, and blood glucose control were significantly improved in the intervention group(all P< 0.05).Conclusion General health education may contribute to the control of hyperglycemia and improve long-term survival of renal transplantation receivera.

AIM: To determine adenosine content in Kudiezi Injection(Ixeris sonchifolia Hance). METHODS: HPLC was used with Shim-pack CLC-ODS(6.0 mm?150 mm,5 ?m). The mobile phase consisted of methanol-acelonitrile-0.025 mol?L -1 phosphoric acid (3∶4∶93). The flow rate was 1 mL?min -1 . The UV detection wavelength was at 260 nm. RESULTS: The adenosin content in Kudiezi Injection was 0.15/10 mL. The average recovery was 98.4%(n=5). CONCLUSION: HPLC can be used for the quality control of Kudiezi Injection Injection.
7. Consistency evaluation method for Lianhua Qingwen Capsule based on microcalorimetry
Chinese Traditional and Herbal Drugs 2017;48(11):2202-2206
Objective: To study the effect of Lianhua Qingwen Capsule (LQC) on the growth and metabolism of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and to establish a new method to evaluate the consistency of LQC. Methods: The power-time curves and corresponding thermodynamic parameters such as appearance time (T), total heat output (Q), maximum power output (P), and growth rate constant (k) of P. aeruginosa were determined by microcalorimetry. The regression analysis was carried out with T, P, Q, and k as parameters, and the optimal parameters were selected according to the correlation coefficient to calculate the antibacterial effective rate. The effects of 11 batches of LQC and specially treated LQC samples on growth and metabolism of P. aeruginosa were determined by an index antibacterial effective rate to evaluate the antibacterial activity of LQC. Results: LQC had obvious inhibitory effect on P. aeruginosa in the range of 10.00 to 47.68 mg/mL, and the bacteriostatic efficacy and dosage of LQC had good correlation. By regression analysis, it was found that T was the best parameter in the four thermodynamic parameters, r = 0.990. The change of this parameter could directly evaluate the effect of LQC on the growth and metabolism of P. aeruginosa, with good stability. The appearance time was selected as a parameter to calculate its antibacterial effective rate (E). The results showed that there was no significant difference in E of different batches of LQC samples. And the E value was significantly changed when the sample was placed in a humid/high temperature environment. Conclusion: The microcalorimetric method can be used to evaluate the antibacterial activity and the quality consistency of LQC capsule, which has the high precision and good accuracy. The study has provided a new method to evaluate the quality consistency of TCM.

Objective To investigate the clinical value of liver transplantation for intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC).Methods A retrospective analysis was performed on 68 patients with ICC who underwent hepatic resection or liver transplantation between January 2007 and September 2013.In the surgical treatment of ICC,overall survival and prognostic risk factors were analyzed to determine the clinical value of liver transplantation for ICC compared with hepatic resection. Results Of the patients with ICC,55 underwent hepatic resection and 13 were given liver transplantation. The 1 and 3-year survival rate was significantly higher in the liver transplantation group than in the hepatic resection group (76.9% versus 52.7%,and 61.5% versus 27.3%,P<0.05).In addition, liver transplantation resulted in higher tumor recurrence-free survival rate than hepatic resection (69.2% versus 41.8%,and 61.5% versus 20.0%,P<0.05).The multivariate analysis showed that tumor size larger than 5 cm was an independent risk factor and HBV infection was an independent protective factor of ICC.Conclusion The prognosis of patients who underwent liver transplantation was better than hepatic resection, suggesting that liver transplantation is perhaps a prior treatment in strictly selected and unresectable patients with ICC.
