Caffey's disease(infantile cortical hyperostosis) is an uncommon benign and self limited disorder of unknown etiology, affecting the skeleton and its contiguous fasciae and muscles. Its occurrence in isolated cases or in multiple members in families suggests the existence of two different forms, namely a sporadic form and a familial form. The tibia is the predominant bone known to be affected in the familial form, while the mandible is mostly affected in the sporadic form. This benign and self-limited disorder has rarely late recurrence or persistence of symptoms with deformity. The patient in this case had immediate and complete resolution of her symptoms while receiving acetaminophen with no recurrent bone formation during treatment with antiinflammatory drugs. We describe sporadic, nonfamilial Caffey's disease, affecting both radii and tibiae, but not involving the mandibular in a 4-month-old female infant.

Journal of Korean Neurosurgical Society 1979;8(1):87-94
Meningioma is generally regarded as benign and extracranial metastasis of intracranial meningioma is rare. About 60 cases of distant metastasis of meningioma have now been reported. Angioblastic meningioma, although a rare type, shows rapid growth and sarcomatous change frequently, and has higher incidence of metastasis than other types of meningioma. The authors report a case of malignant angioblastic meningioma arisen in left olfactory groove with multiple metastasis to skeletal system. The available literature regarding these tumors is reviewed.

Anesthesia and Pain Medicine 2012;7(3):213-216
A spontaneous spinal epidural hematoma (SSEH) is a rare disease that accompanies severe axial pain in the spine with various levels of paralysis depending on the location of the hematoma. A SSEH is mainly caused by a coagulating disorder or anticoagulants medication, while certain cases relate this disease with spinal inflammatory conditions. The early diagnosis of a SSEH is important for its treatment. Most cases with neurologic symptoms can be treated with an immediate laminectomy and decompression. If the neurologic symptom improves within 12 hours, a conservative treatment is effective; however few cases have been reported. We report this case with a review of the relevant literature.

Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases 2004;56(3):321-323
A-59-year old man was admitted to the hospital with a 2-month history of the right pleuritic chest discomfort and mild dyspnea. Seven years earlier, he was operated on left pneumonectomy for squamous cell carcinoma of left upper lobe (Stage IIb, T2N1M0). The computed tomographic scan revealed an anterior herniation of the right lung in the left hemithorax. A single thorax after receiving pneumonectomy is called a "buffalo chest" because the absence of an anatomical separation of the two hemithoraxes resembles that of the North American buffalo or bison. A possible pneumothorax should be catastrophic for the patient, so he should be closely monitored regarding any invasive procedure or trauma. He improved after symptomatic treatment.

5.Ureteroureterostomy after Ureteroneocystostomy Complications in Renal Transplantation.
The Journal of the Korean Society for Transplantation 2004;18(2):179-182
PURPOSE: At present renal transplantation, the most frequent surgical complications may be occurred on ureterovesical anastomosis site (i.e. leakage, stenosis and reflux). The results of ureteroureterostomy using recipient's own ureter in these complications, will be presented. METHODS: From 1983 to 2004, 410 renal transplantations were performed at our institution. In all cases, external ureteroneocystostomy technique was used. Complications involving the anastomosis site occurred in 23 cases (5.4%), with 15 stenosis (3.4%) and 8 cases of leakage (1.9%). All of them were living donor cases. The mean recipient's age was 47.2 years. Corrective surgery were performed as soon as complication confirmed radiologically (ultrasonography), 16.1+/-22.3 days after transplantaion for leakage and 86.8+/-87.6 days for stenosis. If the length of graft ureter was long enough, ureteroneocys tostomy was performed again and if not, end to side ureteroureterostomy was performed in 12 cases, end to end ureteroureterostomy in 1 case and end to end pyeloureterostomy in one case. A double J ureteral stent was used in every case. RESULTS: There were one graft loss due to stone formation nephropathy, one mortality due to herpetic infection with functioning graft and one failure of recovery of graft function because of too late patients visit. Others had good graft function until last follow up with 3.8+/-2.5years of mean follow-up without further ureteral complications. CONCLUSION: Ureteroureterostomy is a safe and permanent treatment for complications of ureterovesical anastomosis site and gives good results.

6.Spontaneous Renal Allograft Rupture Caused by Arteriovenous Fistula: 1 case.
The Journal of the Korean Society for Transplantation 2004;18(2):198-200
Renal allograft rupture is an uncommon but life-threatening complication. The most common cause of the spontaneous rupture of the renal graft is acute rejection but other causes including acute tubular necrosis, renal vein thrombosis and urinary tract obstruction have been reported. Here we report a case of spontaneous rupture of renal graft caused by arteriovenous fistula in the patient being managed by plasmapheresis due to hemolytic uremic syndrome developed in the renal graft 3 years late after transplantation.

7.Iron Deficiency Anemia in Pregnancy
Journal of the Korean Society of Maternal and Child Health 2023;27(2):45-50
Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) is the most common hematologic abnormality, which is a reduction in the concentration of erythrocytes or hemoglobin in the blood in pregnancy because Iron requirements increase during pregnancy. Since a failure to maintain sufficient levels of iron may result in adverse maternal-fetal consequences, active counseling and support from medical staff are necessary. Regarding the points to note during treatment, this document is to provide a brief overview of the IDA and medical management during pregnancy.

Journal of Breast Disease 2019;7(2):52-58
PURPOSE:
SMAD4 is a member of the SMAD family and acts as a central mediator of transforming growth factor beta signaling. Little is known about SMAD4 expression and its prognostic significance in breast cancer. We evaluated the clinicopathological and prognostic significance of SMAD4 expression in breast cancer.
METHODS:
Two hundred and fifty-five patients with invasive ductal carcinoma of the breast from 2000 to 2008 were retrospectively analyzed. We investigated SMAD4 expression using a tissue microarray-based immunohistochemical assay and evaluated the association between SMAD4 and prognosis of breast cancer.
RESULTS:
High SMAD4 expression was positively associated with early stage (p=0.009), estrogen receptor positivity (p=0.026), and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 negativity (p=0.001). A significant difference in overall survival (OS) was associated with high SMAD4 expression in patients with T1 stage tumors (hazard ratio: 0.459, p=0.024).
CONCLUSION
High SMAD4 expression was correlated with several favorable prognostic factors and was associated with favorable OS in T1 stage breast cancer. SMAD4 in breast cancer has potential prognostic significance, and further investigations and understanding about SMAD4 expression are needed.

The Korean Journal of Pain 2005;18(1):64-68
Migraine is a disabling headache that can occur with or without aura. We present here a case of migraine that was effectively managed by a series of cervical epidural blocks. A 41-year-old woman who had suffered from severe headache on her left temporal area for 12 years visited our pain clinic. Her 11-point numeric pain rating scale was 10 out of 10 at the first visit and the symptoms were associated with homonymous visual disturbances, paresthesia on the left face, shoulder and arm, and general weakness. For the first 5 years after the headaches began, her headache was relatively well controlled by acetaminophen; after then, the acetaminophen wasn't effective. After wandering from this hospital to the next one in search of relief, she managed to visit our pain clinic. We tried several blocks including cervical epidural block, and she was continuously medicated with sumatriptan. Her headache was gradually relieved. Now, her 11-point numeric rating scale is 1-2 out of 10 at the most during her headache attacks.

Korean Journal of Psychosomatic Medicine 2016;24(1):61-65
Currently, a variety of Information and Communication Technology(ICT) is being broadly utilized for mental health. Especially, mobile application is one of the effective ICT, and several applications have been developed after the spread of smartphones. The mobile-based mental health has several strengths, such as better treatment accessibility and easier check-ups of symptoms or daily activities by real-time monitoring. Better follow-ups of treatment course, more customized feedback and better transportability enable patients to be more adherent. However, there are some limitations of mobile technology about the mental health, such as technical troubles of electric errors, data safety problems and personal information extrusion. Therefore, full considerations should be given during the development and provision of the technology. Most of all, mental health specialists should actively participate in the development process by incorporation of evidence-based experiences and assurance of good clinical qualities.
