Tibia valga has been described as a consequence of non-displaced fractures of the proximal metaphysis of the tibia in children. There has been considerable speculation about the cause of this deformity. Four cases of estabilished valgus deformity following injury to the proximal tibia metaphysis in children are presented. In one case of them, it was showed that an infolding of a portion of the periosteum of the tibiain medial opening of this fracture. It was treated by surgical clearence of the infolding periosteum and varus osteotomy with slight over-correction and partial fibulectomy. The recurrence of valgus deformity was absent during post operative one year. In another case, roentgenogram showed an asymmetrical growth arrest line of the pmximal tibia. The presence of asymmetrical growth arrest lines in the pmximal metaphysis of the tibia demonstrates that the valgus deformity in this patient was caused by overgrowth of the medial portion of the proximal tibial epiphyseal plate. In the remainder, we observed the deformity developed without any specific cause.

We assessed 14 eyes of 14 patients with persisting hypotony due to cyclodialysis by blunt trauma of after secondary intraocular lens implantation. All the 14 eyes showed persistent hypotony and no increment of intraocular pressure(IOP) nor the visual acuity during the follow up period of average 4.6 months before treatment, We treated these eyes with argon laser photocoagulation and/or direct cyclopexy. After treatment, the IOP changed from 3.7+/-1.5mmHg to 13.7+/-5.1mmHg, and posttreatment IOP was greater than 8mmHg in 12 eyes. All 14 eyes showed visual acuity under 0.3 before the treatment and after treatment, the visual acuity improved by 4.2+/-3.3 lines at the last follow up visit. The follow up period was 12.5 months on average. Before treatment, all the 12 eyes that had no medial opacity showed hypotony maculopathy, but after treatment only 4 eyes showed persisting hypotony maculopathy. A-scan axial length measurement was performed on 8 eyes before and after treatment, and the axial lengths were increased by 0.90+/-0.88mm after treatment in 7 eyes in which IOP were increased. The change in refractive errors before and after treatment was possible to be assessed in 9 eyes and among them, 7 eyes showed increment of IOP. Among those 7 eyes, 2 eyes had shallow chambers with anteriorly displaced lens before treatment and showed repositioning of lenses and hyperopic shift by +2.86 Dsph on average after treatment, but the remaining 4 eyes excluding one eye that received lensectomy at the time of surgery for taumatic cataract, showed myopic shift by -2.31 Dsph on average after treatment.

We report a case of neuroblastoma with multiple skin metastases as a chief complaint in a 2-month-old girl. the skin lesions were rnultiple, pea-sized, bluish, nontender, moable subcutaneous nodules on abdomen, back and scalp. Histopathology showed small round or poly gonal tumor cells which have deeply stained, basophilic, hyperchromatic nuclei with some mitoses. Th.se tumor cells showed clumping tendency which is one of early menifestations of rosette formation. Immunohistochemically positive reaction was demonstrated by anti-NSE(neuron specific enolase) antilody but negative reaction by anti-NFP (neurofilament proteiin ) antibody. She has been succesfully treated with combined chemotherapy for 10 months without relapse.

In the course of immunoscreening of Clonorchis sinensis cDNA library, a cDNA CsRP12 containing a tandem repeat was isolated. The cDNA CsRP12 encodes two putative peptides of open reading frames (ORFs) 1 and 2 (CsRP12-1 and -2). The repetitive region is composed of 15 repeats of 10 amino acids. Of the two putative peptides, CsRP12-1 was proline-rich and found to have homologues in several organisms. Recombinant proteins of the putative peptides were bacterially produced and purified by an affinity chromatography. Recombinant CsRP12-1 protein was recognized by sera of clonorchiasis patients and experimental rabbits, but recombinant CsRP12-2 was not. One of the putative peptide, CsRP12-1, is designated CsPRA, proline-rich antigen of C. sinensis. Both the C-termini of CsRP12-1 and -2 were bacterially produced and analysed to show no antigenicity. Recombinant CsPRA protein showed high sensitivity and specificity. In experimental rabbits, IgG antibodies to CsPRA was produced between 4 and 8 weeks after the infection and decreased thereafter over one year. These results indicate that CsPRA is equivalent to a natural protein and a useful antigenic protein for serodiagnosis of human clonorchiasis.
