2.Fatigue in Patients on Dialysis.
Journal of Korean Academy of Adult Nursing 1997;9(3):505-511
The purpose of this study was to provide fundamental data by figuring out fatigue differences in patients on hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. The subjects for this study were 49 patients on hemodialysis and 54 patients on peritioneal dialysis at C university medical center in Seoul Results were as follows: 1. The average fatigue score in peritoneal dialysis patients tended to be higher in patients on peritoneal dialysis(42.22) than in patients on hemodialysis(39.41). Peritoneal dialysis patients showed higher score than hemodialysis patients in some general characteristics in groups with male, ones in 20's, 40's, 50's, married, college degree, having religion, having occupation, and not take regular nap. 2. The percents of this subjects with feel fatigue at the time of survey was higher in peritoneal dialysis patients(68.5%) than in hemodialysis patients(57.1%). The percentages of the subjects who feel fatigue in peritioneal dialysis patients was higher than hemodialysis patients, and the high tendencies in peritoneal dialysis patients in were obsemed in groups with male, ones in 30's, to have college degree, periods so of 1-2years in peritoneal dialysis, region, men without occupation, regular exercises, regular nap etc.

4.Immunohistochemical Study on Pituitary Aednoma.
Korean Journal of Pathology 1994;28(6):629-635
The development of immuohistochemistry and the application of electron microscopy have revolutionized our understanding of the pathopysiology of pituitart adenoma. The clinical value of functional characterization of pituitary adenoma has been realized. Immunohistochemical stains using polyclonal antibodies to six pituitary hormones (GH, PRL, ACTH, TSH, FSH & LH) were performed to classify the pituitary adenoma and to investigate the relationship between the results of the immunohistochemical study and pared to the serum hormone level. The results are summarized as follows: The Most common clinical type of pituitary adenoma was prolactinoma and the second was nonfunctioning adenoma. However, the most common immunohistological type of pituitary adenoma was null cell adenoma, the second one, lactotrope adenoma and the third one, mixed sommatotrope & lactotrope adenoma. In the clinically nonfunctioning adenoma cases, null cell adenoma were present in 75%; gonadotrope adenoma and corticotrope adenoma were present in 25%, while the serum prolactin level was increased in ten of the twenty cases(50%) of the null cell adenoma. When the serum prolactin level was increased above the 150ng/ml, the tumor cells gave positive reactions in 95.2% of cases immunohistochemically. But in the cases of GH, FSH & LH, the tumor cells gave positive reactions in 100%, 75%, and 66.7%, respectively. In the case of increased serum prolactin level, more than 50% and 30% proportion of tumor cells showed positive reactions in the micro- and macroadenoma, respectively.

8.A Wide Muscle-splitting Approach to the Lumbosacral Spine
The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1986;21(6):1119-1125
20 patients with lumbosacral disorder underwent anterior spinal fusion using wide muscle splitting approach. The approach has considerable advantages over the usual muscle cutting approach or the transperitoneal approach commonly employed for this incision. The advantages of this approach are as follows: 1. The approach to the lesion site is safe and accurate. 2. The operation field is wide. 3. It is less destructive to the abdominal wall. 4, The defect left in iliac crest after removal of bone graft can be covered with external oblique layer. 5. The exposure given to the Ls-S1 intervertebral disc is superior to that given by the Rutherford Morrison approach.

9.Clinical Study of Kienbock's Disease
The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1990;25(5):1453-1461
Seventeen cases of Kienbock's disease were treated since 1982, and analysed their clinical outcomes to confine the pathogenesis and to make sure the best way to treat them in various stages. It was not related to trauma around wrist joint (35.3%) but significantly closed to ulnar negative variances(64.7%). Ulnar tilt angle was increased definitely upto 28.9° compared with normal value (22°) in ulnar negative variance, but volar tilt angle was within normal limits. The packing with tensor fascia lata or palmaris longus tendon after the complete excision of avascular lunate could not prevent the collapse of carpal bones at long-term follow-up. But the triscaphe fusion was most effective to maintain the normal wrist anatomy, and radial shortening than ulnar lengtherning is thought to be more effective in wrist biomechanics of kienbock's disease with ulnar negative variances.

Korean Journal of Nuclear Medicine 1999;33(3):306-315
PURPOSE: We performed this study to evaluate the process of radiation induced apoptosis in A431 skin epithelial cancer cell line. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Low to high dose radiation (0, 2, 5, 10, 25 Gy) was given to A431 cells by Cs-137 cell irradiator. Apoptosis was evaluated by cell morphology, dye exclusion test, and DNA laddering. RESULTS: Cell viability decreased as the radiation dose increased. Number of apoptotic bodies increased as radiation dose increased. It increased most significantly at 12 hours after irradiation. Lactate dehydrogenase activity in culture medium increased according to radiation dose and time after irradiation. CONCLUSION:: Radiation-induced apoptosis which was the main course of cell death in A431 cells could be analyzed quantitatively by counting apoptotic bodies under microscope. Apoptosis increased as radiation dose increased.
