1.Effects of Relational Self and Negative Ideation of Teachers on Coping Type for School-aged Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to identify predictors influencing relational self and negative thinking on coping among teachers working with students with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). METHODS: A cross sectional study design was conducted with 212 teachers in six elementary schools located in D and C cities. Data were analyzed using t test, one way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and stepwise regression analysis with SPSS 18.0. RESULTS: The significant predictive factor for the active coping type was perceived support in relational self. Empathy care was as a significant factor for the passive coping type. Relationship avoidance and agency were significant predictive factors for negative coping with ADHD students. Active and passive coping had significant negative correlations with social worry. Significant factors for positive coping were attendance at ADHD workshops and number of years of teaching. CONCLUSION: Results suggest that it is important to focus on teachers having a positive aspect in the classroom, using new strategies, and understanding their own inner factors of perceived support and empathy care in order to provide positive coping and enhance relationships with ADHD students. To further enhance positive coping and perceived support and to reduce social worry, teachers should use community resources, especially psychiatric health nurses.

2.Factors Affecting Intraoperative Body Temperature in Surgical Patients with Laparotomy under General Anesthesia.

PURPOSE: The study was conducted to identify factors affecting the intraoperative core body temperature (CBT) of surgical patients under general anesthesia. METHODS: This study was performed through a prospective descriptive research design. The sample consisted of 138 patients who had undergone elective laparotomy surgery. Age, weight, height, the basal preoperative CBT, blood pressure, and heart rate were collected. CBT was again measured at induction of anesthesia, 1 hour, 2 hours, and 3 hours following induction of general anesthesia. RESULTS: Factors affecting intraoperative hypothermia <36degrees C at 1 hour following induction, were CBT at induction and total body fat (TBF) (R2=.569, p<.001); at 2 hours after induction, CBT at induction and TBF (R2=.507, p<.001); at 3 hours after induction, CBT at induction (beta=0.34), TBF, age and the ambient temperature in the operating room (R2=.449, p<.001). CONCLUSION: CBT at induction and TBF appear to be factors affecting intraoperative CBT within 2 hours after induction of anesthesia; CBT at induction, TBF, advanced age and the ambient temperature after 3 hours following induction. We recommend keeping surgical patients warm before induction of anesthesia and providing intraoperative warming for surgical patients of advanced age with low TBF and when the duration of general anesthesia will last more than 3 hours.

In this systematic review, we investigated the adverse health effects of climate change and air pollution in PWDs. We conducted a comprehensive literature search of the PubMed database using the terms “disab*,” “air pollution,” and “climate change” on July 4, 2023, and August 8, 2023 and searched the Web of Science (WOS) database on December 28, 2023. We identified 425 and 1,169 studies on climate change cited in PubMed and WOS, respectively, as well as 333 studies on air pollution in PubMed and 495 studies on air pollution in WOS. The studies were classified by type of exposure, and full-text screening was conducted to confirm that the population, intervention or exposure, comparator, outcome statement, and inclusion and exclusion criteria were met. The Newcastle-Ottawa Scale was used to assess the quality of the included cohort and case-control studies and for data analysis. In extreme temperatures, PWDs experienced higher rates of injury, heat-related illness, functional impairment, heart disease, mental disorders, and mortality than people who were non-disabled (ND). Exposure to air pollution resulted in higher rates of obesity, cardiovascular disease, poststroke neurological and functional disability, and mortality in PWDs than in people who were ND. Therefore, because PWDs were more affected by climate change and air pollution than people who were ND, sensitive policies and preparedness measures should be developed for PWDs.

7.Pulmonic stenosis with atrial septal defect in a Siamese cat.

A 6-month-old mature intact female Siamese cat presented with exertional dyspnea. Diagnostic studies revealed pleural effusion, grade 4/6 left basal systolic murmur, deep S-wave in electrocardiograph leads I, II, and III, cardiomegaly with pleural effusion on radiography, pulmonic systolic (~5.8 m/sec) and tricuspid (3.6 m/sec) regurgitant jets, atrial septal defect, and a hypoplastic right outflow tract. Based on these results, the case was diagnosed as pulmonic stenosis with atrial septal defect. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case report describing pulmonic stenosis with atrial septal defect in a cat in Korea.

8.Effects of Job Crafting and Job Engagement on Career Management Behavior among Public Institution Nurses: Mediating Effect of Job Engagement

Purpose:
The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of job crafting, job engagement on career management behavior among public institution nurses and to investigate the mediating effect of job engagement.
Methods:
This study was a descriptive survey, with 176 public institution nurses working in seven institutions participating. Structured questionnaires were used, collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics independent t-test, One-way ANOVA, Scheffé test, Pearson correlation coefficient, multiple regression analysis with SPSS statistics 26.0 program.
Results:
Career management behavior were significantly associated with job crafting (β=.52, p<.001), job engagement (β=.20, p=.015). These variables explained 48.0% of career management behavior. Also, job engagement had a partial mediating effect on the relationship between job crafting and career management behavior.
Conclusion
Findings indicate that the relationship between job crafting and career management behavior among public institution nurses is mediated by job engagement. Strategies for enhancing career management behavior among public institution nurses should be considered to enhance job crafting and job engagement. The results can contribute to the establishment of a human resource management system for public institution nurses.

Staphylococcus aureus is an important cause of human infections, and it is also a commensal that colonizes the nose, axillae, vagina, throat, or skin surfaces. S. aureus has increasingly been recognized as a cause of severe invasive illness, and individuals colonized with this pathogen are subsequently at increased risk of its infections. S. aureus infection is a major cause of skin, soft tissue, respiratory, bone, joint, and endovascular disorders, and staphylococcal bacteremia may cause abscess, endocarditis, pneumonia, metastatic infection, foreign body infection, or sepsis. The authors describe a case of a fisherman who died of sepsis on a fishing boat during sailing out for fish. The autopsy shows paravertebral abscess, pus in the pericardial sac, infective endocarditis with vegetation on the aortic valve cusp, myocarditis, pneumonia and nephritis with bacterial colonization, and also liver cirrhosis and multiple gastric ulcerations.
