1.Moderating Effects of Work-family Conflict between Job . Organizational . Career Characteristics and Turnover Intention among Nurses in Small and Medium-sized Hospitals.
Journal of Korean Academy of Nursing Administration 2015;21(3):297-307
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to identify moderating effects of work-family conflict in the relationship between job, organizational, career characteristics and turnover intention among nurses working in small and medium-sized hospitals. METHODS: A self report questionnaire survey was completed by 286 nurses working in five small or medium-sized hospitals in P city. Data were gathered during October, 2014 and analyzed using the SPSS 21.0 program. RESULTS: Work-family conflict had significant moderating effects between job, organizational, career characteristics and turnover intention of nurses working in small or medium-sized hospitals. Career commitment was the biggest factor in reducing turnover intention. CONCLUSION: The results of the study indicate that work-family conflict and career commitment are important factors in turnover intention among nurses working in small and medium-sized hospitals. Therefore, to understand job and organizational career characteristics of nurses in small and medium hospitals, consideration must be given to the role of conflict in the nurses' workplace and homes. Support from the organization focusing on career development, and provision of an innovative system for the environment of small hospitals are needed.

Journal of Korean Academy of Adult Nursing 2004;16(3):502-512
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to identity the relationships among self reported health behaviors, menopausal symptoms, and sexual satisfaction in middle-aged women. METHOD: The subjects of this study were 155 women from 40 to 60 years. The data was analyzed using SPSS program for frequency, percentage, mean, t-test, ANOVA, Duncan and Pearson's correlation coefficients. RESULTS: 1. The mean score of health behaviors was 3.10 out of maximum 4. 2. The mean score of self-reported menopausal symptoms was 1.73 out of maximum 2. 3. The mean score of sexual satisfaction was 2.73 out of maximum 4. 4. Women's degree of menopausal symptoms had negative correlations with the degree of health behaviors(r=-0.437, p<.001) and the degree of sexual satisfaction(r=-0.439, p<.001). The degree of health behaviors had a positive correlation with the degree of sexual satisfaction (r=0.470, p<.001). CONCLUSION: In conclusion, menopausal symptoms-based complaints by middle-aged women were negatively correlated to health behavior and sexual satisfaction. Therefore, health behavior should be considered when developing nursing strategies for middle- aged women, especially when dealing with menopausal symptoms and sexual satisfaction.

Journal of Korean Academy of Adult Nursing 1999;11(4):785-795
The effects of the mouth care using cool normal saline on oral discomfort were investigated in 40 patients on chemotherapy. The subjects were divided into two groups, one was experimental group(N=20) in which the subjects were provided mouth care with cool normal saline, the other was the control group(N=20). The data was collected from June. 20 to Oct. 30 in 1998. Oral discomfort was measured by Self Reported Oral Discomfort Assessment Instrument developed by Jung(1995) and Oral Assessment Guide (OAG) Instrument developed by UNMC. Collected data were analyzed by means of frequency, percentage, standard deviation, chi-squre test, t-test. The results were summarized as follows: 1. 'The experimental group which recieved oral care with cool normal saline shoud be lower self reported oral discomfort on 3, 5, 7, 14 days after chemotherapy was supported (p=.025-.000). 2. 'The experimental group which recieved oral care with cool normal saline shoud be lower observational symptom oral discomfort on 3, 5 days after chemotherapy was not supported, but on 7, 14 days after chemotherapy was supported(p=.0011, 0.001). In conclusion, the patient who recieved oral care with cool normal saline showed the decrease in degree of oral discomfort of cancer patient undergoing chemotherapy. So oral care with cool normal saline had been judged the nursing intervention to improve oral discomfort of cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1981;19(2):135-144
Many factors including social rejection, family problems, loss of educational opportunity, fear, prejudice and ignorance of leprosy compound the inherent psychologicaI stress of leprosy. In light of these problems we have undertaken a study to evaluate the psychological status of several selected groups of leprasy patients. We first studied 340 leprosy patients living in resettlement villages and 304 healthy people living in similar isolated areas. We used a self report symptom inventory, SCL-90 (symptom check list-90), and compared the two-groups. (countinued..)

Journal of Korean Academy of Fundamental Nursing 2009;16(1):103-111
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to identify relationships between violence response, coping, and burnout among emergency department nurses. METHOD: This descriptive study using self report questionnaires was conducted from October 1 to October 20, 2008. Participants were 147 general nurses working in emergency departments in hospitals having over 500 beds and located in Busan. ANOVA and Pearson's correlation coefficients with SPSS PC+ WIN 14.0. were used to analyze the data. RESULTS: Scores for violence response, coping, and burnout were 3.08 (1-5 scale), 2.57 (1-4 scale), and 3.22 (1-5 scale) respectively. There were significant differences in violence response and burnout by education, clinical careers, clinical careers in ED, and plans to work in the future, and no significant differences in coping by general characteristics. There was a significant and highly positive relationship between violence response and burnout. CONCLUSION: The degree of violence response and burnout was comparatively high, while that of coping was average. Therefore, it is necessary to develop effective programs related to prevention and coping with violence for nurses in emergency departments. Institutional measures by hospital authorities are also needed to improve the nursing quality by providing a safe workplace.

8.Survey User Satisfaction in Aspect of User Interactions With an Order Communication System in Seoul National University Hospital.
Journal of Korean Society of Medical Informatics 2002;8(1):1-10
To survey user satisfaction, correlates of satisfaction, and self reported evaluation about order communication system in Seoul National University Hospital, we performed this study. We met 63 users who were involved in hospital's digitalization committee and surveyed the Questionnare for User Interaction Satisfaction(QUIS) as evaluation tool and self-evaluation about OCS. We received 55 replies out of 63 users. The users were generally satisfied with order communication system(mean scale = 5.8 on a 1 to 9 scale). QUIS scored highest in the area of screen design and lowest in the area of system capability. Overall user satisfaction was most highly correlated with task-flow. Users noticed retrieval of laboratory result as the most useful aspect and worried about system stability and system response time. But, system response time was weekly correlated with overall user satisfaction. In SNUH, user showed that satisfaction with order communication system was good. Satisfaction was more correlated with perceptions about order communication system's efficiency than with order communication system response time.

10.The Effect on the Self-Esteem Promotion Program on Self-Esteem and Mental Health of Adolescents with Minor Delinquency.
Journal of Korean Academy of Nursing 2001;31(7):1181-1188
This research was performed to investigate the effectiveness of self-esteem promotion program(SEPP) to adolescents with minor delinquency on self-esteem and mental health. Samples of this study were 36 adolescents with signs of minor delinquency in the third grade of middle schools who reside in K city. Data analysis was conducted by chi-square test which tests the general homogeneity between the experiment group and the control group. To test hypothesis how SEPP affects on self-esteem, mental health, and delinquency, paired t-test was performed. The results were summarized as follow; 1. After the experimental treatment, self-esteem score was not statistically significant. 2. After the experimental treatment, mental health score was statistically significant. 3. After the experimental treatment, self reported delinquency score was statistically significant. As the result of this research, the SEPP increased the degree of mental health and decreased that of delinquency of the adolescents who committed minor delinquency. Self-esteem is difficult to be changed by itself in number for a short time, but there is potential effect, which can be expected the preceding changes of mental health and behavior of participants.
