Korean Circulation Journal 1986;16(4):515-520
We observed the motion of left ventricular posterior wall aortic root posterior wall in 20 normal persons and 20 patients with left ventricular hypertrophy during the period from March 1985 to Agust 1985. The results were as followings; 1) The percentage of rapid filling time to one cycle of heart beat obtained from the ventriculat posterior wall motion was significantly prolonged in patients with left ventricular hypertrophy(24.1+/-5.44%) than in normal persons(13.5+/-3.69%)(p<0.05) and that of slow filling time was significantly shortend in patients with left ventricular hypertrophy(27.4+/-6.10%) than in normal persons(38.7+/-9.06%)(P<0.005). 2) The rapid filling slop obtained from left ventricular postrior wall motion was significantly reduced in patients with left ventricular hypertrophy(44.0+/-12.45mm/sec)than in normal persons(91.7+/-53.16mm/sec)(P>0.005) but the slow were not signigficantly different between the two groups. 3) The left artial emptying index calculated from the aortic root posterior wall motion was significantly lower in patients with left ventricular hypertrophy(0.6+/-0.18) than in normal persons(1.1+/-0.26)(P<0.005).

Tibric acid is a new oral hypolipidemic agent with the chemical name of 2-chloro-5(3,5-dimethyl piperidinosulfonyl) benzoic acid. The results of tibric acid administration in 22 patients with primary hyperlipidemia were as follows. 1) Serum triglyceride level was significantly decreased in 84.6% of 22 cases with an average 43.9% decrease in serum triglyceride. 2) Serum cholesterol level was decreased in 59.1% of 22 cases with an average 15.8% decrease in serum cholesterol. The decrease in serum cholesterol level was not significant. 3) It seemed that there were significant falls in the serum triglyceride of the hyperlipoproteinemia type IV and IIb patietns and in the serum cholesterol of type IIa patients 4) The side effects of tibric acid were indigestion, loose stool and anorexia. There was no side effects in 63.6% of cases.

Korean Circulation Journal 1975;5(1):31-35
The results of alpha-acetyldigoxin(Dioxanin(R)) administration in 21 patients with congestive heart failure were as follows. Alpha-acetyldigoxin is a new oral preparation of cardiac glycoside derived from lanatosid C. 1. For rapid digitalization in 2-3 days, the initial dose was 1.2 to 2.6mg (average 1.96mg). For medium-fast digitalization in 4 days, the loading dose was 2.0 to 3.2mg (average 2.7mg). For slow digitalization 0.1 to 0.4mg was required for 5 to 6 days without loading dose. The maintenance dose was 0.1 to 0.4mg (average 0.33mg) daily. 2. The therapeutic effect of acetyldigoxin was excellent in 15 cases (71%), good in 4 cases (20%) and stationary in 2 cases (9%). 3. Side effects were observed in 2 cases with usual dosage regimen. One accidental case who took single dose of 4mg(20 tablests) developed supraventricular tachycardia with varying degree of atrioventricular block, ventricular bigeminy and premature beat but recovered completely after 6 days.

Aortic root diameter by two dimensional and M-mode echocardiography in predicting prosthetic aortic valve size preoperatively was measured in 10 adult patients undergoing aortic valve replacement. Correlation of aortic root diameter measured by two dimensional echocardiography and actual prosthetic valve size implanted by aortic valve replacement was excellent. Correlation coefficient was statistically significant (r=0.91, P<0.001). Correlation of aortic root diameter measured by M-mode echocardiography and actual prosthetic valve size was also excellent. Correlation coefficient was statistically significant (r=0.86, P<0.001). This study demonstrates that aortic root diameter by two dimensional and M-mode echocardiography can accurately predict prosthetic aortic valve size in patient undergoing aortic valve replacement.

Journal of the Korean Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons 1999;26(6):1173-1176
The surgical construction of vagina could certainlty be done by skin grafting or flaps, but it involves hospitalization, discomfort, scarring of donor area and vaginal tract, hygiene problem. The tissues of the vagina are soft and distensible and it is reasonable to assume that these same tissues could be stretched, elongated or dilated with gradual external pressure. So, we performed the expansion of vaginal lining by self designed set of graduated dilators. The patients was a 27-years-old female whose chief complaint is amenorrhea and incapability to engage in sexual intercourse. On physical examination, this patients had a feminine figure with a normal vulva but only a vaginal dimple was observed. The patient was educated to carry out the mechanical dilation of this dimply by pressure 15 minutes twice a day. In the evening, with insertion of a dilator, the patient was asked to sit on a bicycle chair for 10 minutes. After 8 weeks, the overall outcome of vaginoplasty was successful. The vaginal tract was 8 cm in length and the largest vaginal speculum could be passed into vagina. The patient was able to engage in sexual intercourse without lubrication. The progressive dilatation of vaginal lining is non-invasive and probably the simplest way to treat the patients with congential vaginal atresia. So we recommend this method as the first treatment strategy before surgery.

Korean Circulation Journal 1985;15(3):393-398
We compared the left ventricular ejection fraction by echocardiography with the ejection fraction determined by computerized radionuclide ventriculography in 59 patients who were admitted to the Soon Chun Hyang University Hospotal under the impression of cardiovascular disease from May 1984 to August 1985. The results were as follow : 1) In all patients the ejection fractions by both methods were significantly correlated with each other(r=0.77, P<0.001). 2) In 10 patients with ischemic heart disease the ejection fractions by both methods were not correlated significantly(r=0.42, P>0.10). 3) Except the 10 patients with ischemic heart disease, the ejection fractions by both methods were correlated significantly(r=0.87, P<0.001). 4) In conclusion, though the ejection fraction by the above 2 methods represent the left ventricular function well, the ejection fraction by echocardiography can not represent the left ventricular function precisely in patients in patients with ischemic heart disease because of abnormal left ventricular wall motion and left ventricular function more precisely than that by echocardiography.

Korean Journal of Community Nutrition 2011;16(6):647-660
The purpose of this study was to investigate effects of nutrition education program and pamphlet for the lower grades elementary students focused on individual daily needed food exchange units using Food Exchange System. Program consisted of four lessons (40 min/lesson), "5 major nutrients & function", "6 food group and sources", "daily needed food exchange units for normal body weight", and "smart snack choice and exercise". Pamphlet as activity book was developed for the program. The subjects were 3rd grade elementary students (educated group, 31 vs. non-educated group, 31). Educated group were lessoned as group and/or individual. We examined the differences in nutrition knowledge, dietary attitudes, dietary intakes and satisfaction of the program and pamphlet. In educated group, there were positive improvements on nutrition knowledge score "function and foods of 5 nutrients" and on dietary attitudes "type of breakfast and snacks". In the evaluation of dietary intakes according to KDRI, there were positive improvements on intakes level of riboflavin, vit. C, folate, Ca, P, Fe and Zn in educated group. In satisfaction with the program and pamphlet, contents, font size, visual, figure, difficulty and program curriculum were over 2.90/3.0. It showed that the developed nutrition education program and pamphlet focused on individual daily needed food exchange units using Food Exchange System improved nutrition knowledge, dietary attitudes and nutrients intake level in the lower grades elementary students.

Yeungnam University Journal of Medicine 1993;10(1):197-211
Recently, the Supracondyle fracture of the femur is so severe and comminuted that it is difficult to treat open reduction and rigid fixation sufficiently due to violent traffic accident and external forces. The associated injuries are accompanied variously. So compliactions of the supracondyle fractures 'including joint.. stiffness, delayed union, infection are serious. However development of internal implant and operation skill result in relatively satisfactory function than conservative management. The authors reviewed. 20 cases of the supracondyle fracture of the femur treated at Yeungnam University Hospital from 1989. Dec. To 1992. Jan. The results were as follows 1. The male was common(70%). The 2nd-4th decade was most(87%). 2. The most common cause of injuries was traffic accident. The rate of open fracture was 35%, most of it was traffic accident. 3. According to the ASIF group classification, 4 cases were type A, 4 in type B, 12 in type C (10 in type C2&C3). 4. Accompanied injuries included multiple fractures in 9 cases and femoral artery injury in 1 case. 5. Among the 20 cases, conservative treatment was done in 5 cases and operative treatment was done in 15 cases. 6. Functional results (by Schatzker criteria) were as follows. The satisfactory results were achieved in 40% of cases in consevative treatment and 67 in operative treatment. 7. The average time of partial weight bearing was 15 weeks. 8. Complications were knee stiffness in 6 cases and 4 in delayed union.
