Purpose
An organism receives internal and external stimuli successively. If the function of the organism become abnormal, the abnormality is projected on its body surface. Accordingly the condition of the organism's function can be grasped by palpation or other objective measuring methods.
Among these methods, we commonly put skin-electroresistance meters in clinical use.
However, the variation of the organism's function in a healthy condition has not been quantitatively grasped, while there are data on the variation of the values obtained from sick patients.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the variation of values obtained from subjects in a healthy condition in order to grasp the abnormal variation of values more exactly.
Method
Subjects were sixth-year pupils of Osaka Municial Elementary School of Higashi Awaji. Neurometory was sutomatically recorded at the regular points 0.75 second after the onset of the measurement, with a neurometer (Improved Model D-401; Noiro Ika Kogyo Inc.) adjusted at 12V, 200mV.
Result
Excited H₆ large intestine channels, and inhibited F₂ liver channels and F₆ stomach channels were frequently seen as in the same time of other years.
Unlike adult subjects, the current intensity was low in the Yong meridians of the hand (H4, 5, 6), and high in the Yin meridians of the hand and the foot (H1, 2, 3, F1, 2, 3).

Myocardial revascularization combined with valvular surgery were performed on 8 patients between 1986 and 1990. There were 4 males and 4 females (mean age=60.6 years). Mitral valve replacement was performed in 3 patients, aortic valve replacement in 2, and double valve replacement in 3. There were no operation death, but one late death was seen. No angina attack was evident and NYHA functional class was improved in all patients in survivers. Coronary angiography should be performed in all adult patients who have valvular disease and those with significant artery disease should undergo bypass grafting concomitant with valvular surgery.

To review the outcome of our vaccination program against influenza, an investigation was made into the incidence of this acute infectious disease in our community from 2002 through 2004.Enrolled for this retrospective study were 1) all vaccinated individuals, 2) those who underwent nasal examinations by use of the swab, and 3) patients diagnosed as contracting influenza.The number of those administered with influenza virus vaccines increased year after year during the period under review. Over 70% of them were those aged 65years or above. The mean age of those who caught influenza was 42.9±21.3 in 2002, 34.9±20.4 in 2003 and 45.4±20.2 in 2004. Compared with unvaccinated old people, many unvaccinated young and middle-aged people contracted influenza, but among the vaccinated old people, there were some who came down with the flu.Morbidity was low for the old people whose vaccination rate was high.Therefore, it can be said that vaccination was effective in achieving adequate immunity. Nonetheless, for all the preventive injection, the fact that people of advanced age could be infected should be taken note of.

We evaluated the therapeutic results of cancers in the bile duct, the pancreas head region and the liver and cirrhosis.
The former two types were examined in a total of 49 cases: 10 cholecystocarcinomas, 18 cholangiocarcinomas, 6 papillocarcinomas, and 15 pancreas head cancers. Radical surgery was performed in only 9 cases: 1 cholecystocarcinoma, 1 cholangiocarcinoma, 5 papillocarcinomas and 2 pancreas head cancers. The surgical success rate was satisfactory 83%(5/6) for papillocarcinoma, yet showed 18.4% overall.
Liver cancer and cirrhosis were examined in 102 cases: 78 cirrhoses and 24 livercancers. Of the former, 15% were viral cirrhosis, 44% alcoholic, 1% specific and 40% unknown. Ofthe latter, 29% were viral liver cancer, 29% alcoholic and 42% unknown.
Treatment of these cancers, with the exception of one type, was unfavorable. To increase the surgical success rate, cancers will have to be discovered earlier using such recent, highly-advanced technological means as endoscopy, ultrasonography, angiography and computerized tomography. At the same time, radical surgery should be actively applied in a broader range of cases.
In cirrhosis, bleeding in the upper digestive tract and complicating liver cancer are increasing in frequency due to prolonged life expectancy. How to manage this increase remains subject for further study in the future.

A 47-year-old man underwent a double-valve replacement involving aortic valve replacement (AVR) and mitral valve replacement (MVR) and Re-Re-DVR 6 and 8 months, respectively, after an initial DVR because of suspected prosthetic valve endocarditis. Detachment of the prosthetic mitral valve occurred during the early postoperative period, for which the patient again underwent treatment 15 and 21 months after the initial surgery. The operative findings showed that the detachment was caused by a wide cleavage of the aortic-mitral continuity. There were bacteria detected on a blood culture, and his C-reactive protein (CRP) level did not reduce at any time. On the basis of these findings, we suspected nonrheumatic inflammatory disease and started steroid therapy. His CRP level became negative, and further prosthetic mitral valve detachment did not recur.

STUDY DESIGN: An open-label, non-randomized prospective study. PURPOSE: Teriparatide (TPTD) is known to be an antiosteoporotic agent that may accelerate the healing of fractures. This study was designed to investigate the effect of once-weekly TPTD administration on vertebral stability and bony union after acute osteoporotic vertebral fracture (OVF). OVERVIEW OF LITERATURE: Once-weekly TPTD administration can lead to early vertebral stability and promote bony union of fractured vertebrae in patients with severe osteoporosis. METHODS: Forty-eight subjects with acute OVF were assigned to receive activated vitamin D3 and calcium supplementation or onceweekly subcutaneous injection of TPTD (56.5 μg) in combination with activated vitamin D3 and calcium supplementation for 12 weeks. Vertebral stability was assessed using lateral plain radiography. Vertebral height at the anterior location (VHa) and the difference in VHa {ΔVHa=VHa (supine position)−VHa (weight-bearing position)} were measured at baseline and 12 weeks after starting treatment. Bony union was defined as the absence of a vertebral cleft or abnormal motion (ΔVHa >2 mm). RESULTS: Although not significant, ΔVHa, indicating vertebral stability, tended to be lower in the TPTD group at 12 weeks (p=0.17). As for subjects with severe osteoporosis, ΔVHa at 12 weeks was significantly lower in the TPTD group than in the control group (mean ΔVHa: control group, 3.1 mm (n=15); TPTD group, 1.4 mm (n=16); p=0.02). The rate of bony union was significantly higher in the TPTD group than in the control group (control group, 40%; TPTD group, 81%; p=0.03). CONCLUSIONS: Once-weekly TPTD administration may facilitate early bony union after acute OVF accompanied by severe osteoporosis.
