1.Identification of the Vibrios Isolation from the Shrimp ( Crangon affinis ) in Estuary of Nakdong River in Korea.
Journal of the Korean Society for Microbiology 1997;32(5):529-538
This study was conducted to investigate the vibrio flora in sand shrimp, Crangon affinis, which were collected in the estuarine area, Dadaepo near Nakdong River in Korea from in June 1996 to in May 1997. Crangon affinis is very important role in food chain in nature because of food for many seabirds and fishes. Six species of vibrios (Vibrio alginolyticus, V. parahaemolyticus, Listonella damsela (V. damsela), V. harveyi, V. splendidus biotype I, V. splendidus biotype II, and V. natriegens, an unrecorded species in Korea) were isolated from the intestine of shrimps and characterized by the biochemical tests.

Proximal femoral focal deficiency (PFFD) in early infancy is characteristic by quite shortening of the tight segment, flexed, abducted and externally rotated position In assciation with a stable hip which Is freely mobile. Authors experienced a case with the congenital deficiency of the femoral head. The case showed the normal femoral segment and no any other bony anomalies which cannot be Included in Aitkens or Amstutz's classification.

Canalith repositioning maneuver is effective to treat benign paroxysmal positional vertigo(BPPV). This case showed complicated form of the BPPV such as changes of canalolithiasis to cupulolithiasis, involvement of one canal to two canals and from unilateral to bilateral involvement during the reposition maneuver. This patient was diagnosed as left lateral canalolithiasis at first. After left barbecue maneuver, the type was changed to the right posterior cupulolithiasis. Semont maneuver was performed and then the type of BPPV was changed to combined type with right posterior canalolithiasis and left lateral canalolithiasis. We performed left barbecue maneuver and right Epley maneuver. Then the type of BPPV was changed to left lateral cupulolithiasis. After Brandt-Daroff maneuver and left barbecue maneuver, nystagmus and dizziness disappeared finally.

Journal of the Korean Pediatric Society 1977;20(5):357-364
The author have statistically observed growth pattern of LBW infants born at NMC obstetric ward for 4 years form Jan. 1972 rtrough Dec, 1975. LBW infants were divided ino 2 groups, preterm and small-for-date infants and compared with normal full-term delivered infants group for height and weight. Following results were obtained 1) As compared with NFD infants group, preterm infants group revealed ststistically meaningful difference in height and weight until 5-6 months of age. Thereafter no difference was noticed. But, SFD group showed difference in height and weight until 1 year of age. 2) Preterm infants group was found to have a greater growth velocity than SFD group in 4-7 months of age, SFD group showed relatively similar increment of height and weight with NFD group. 3) Mean heght and weight of LBW infants were below NFD gronp until 1 year of age. Growth velocity ws similar with NFD group, so handicaps of LBW infants were not overcome statistically during 1 year after birth.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1999;37(10):1528-1531
Tegafur [1-(tetrahydro-2-furyl)-5-fluorouracil], the prodrug of 5-fluorouracil, is an anticancer agent. Several cutaneous reactions have been reported following systemic 5-fluorouracil for the treatment of malignancies. We report a patient with marked inflammation of the actinic keratosis following the use of tegafur for stomach carcinoma. The side-effect with 5-fluorouracil was beneficial as most actinic keratosis cleared following the inflammatory reaction. Dermatologists and oncologists should be aware of this potential side-effect, not only because it may become more prevalent but, most importantly, because it is not an allergic reaction to 5-fluorouracil but a dose-dependent response, and the chemotherapy may be continued in most patients.
