1.Identification of the Vibrios Isolation from the Shrimp ( Crangon affinis ) in Estuary of Nakdong River in Korea.
Journal of the Korean Society for Microbiology 1997;32(5):529-538
This study was conducted to investigate the vibrio flora in sand shrimp, Crangon affinis, which were collected in the estuarine area, Dadaepo near Nakdong River in Korea from in June 1996 to in May 1997. Crangon affinis is very important role in food chain in nature because of food for many seabirds and fishes. Six species of vibrios (Vibrio alginolyticus, V. parahaemolyticus, Listonella damsela (V. damsela), V. harveyi, V. splendidus biotype I, V. splendidus biotype II, and V. natriegens, an unrecorded species in Korea) were isolated from the intestine of shrimps and characterized by the biochemical tests.

Proximal femoral focal deficiency (PFFD) in early infancy is characteristic by quite shortening of the tight segment, flexed, abducted and externally rotated position In assciation with a stable hip which Is freely mobile. Authors experienced a case with the congenital deficiency of the femoral head. The case showed the normal femoral segment and no any other bony anomalies which cannot be Included in Aitkens or Amstutz's classification.

Korean Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine 1998;10(1):9-19
This study was conducted to understand health status by general characteristic, and to find out relationship between social support and worker's health status. Health status was measured using SF-36(Medical Outcome Study Short Form 36), a 36 item self administered Instrument. The finding of this study were as follow; Mean scores of health status by sex were higher in male. The younger worker reported good health on physical functioning and role limitation-physical than did the older worker, but the older worker reported good health on social functioning and mental health. Mean scores of health status were higher in high income and white worker. When the relationship between social support and health status, social functioning, role limitation-emotion, mental health, vitality, general health were significantly related. Therefore we reviewed the evidence that socio-economic condition are associated with health status in this study, and that the strength of the social support was a important to maintain health.

OBJECTIVE: Multiple birth implicates the important health and social problems such as preterm birth, low birth weight, high perinatal mortality, and increased medical cost. This study was performed to investigate the multiple birth rate in Korea using the birth certificate data. METHODS: Retrospective review and analysis of data from Korean birth certificate in 1996. RESULTS: Multiple birth rate was 1.4% of total births(683,043 cases). Mean birth weight was 3.29+/-0.47kg for singleton birth and 2.57+/-0.58kg for multiple birth. Mean gestational age was 39.56+/-1.32 weeks for singleton birth and 37.47+/-2.41 weeks for multiple birth. Rate of low birth weight (< 2.5kg) was 14 times higher for multiple birth compared with that of singleton birth, and rate of preterm birth(< 37 weeks) was 10 times higher. Multiple logistic regression analysis was performed to examine the relationship between multiple birth and selected variables including maternal age, job and birth order. As the odds ratio(OR) was 2.47(95% CI: 2.34 - 2.59, p<0.001) for the second birth, and 5.31(95% CI: 4.99 - 5.65, p<0.001) for the third and over birth compared with the first birth, there was a significant correlation between multiple birth and birth order. CONCLUSIONS: Based on the birth certificate data in 1996, the incidence of twin and higher order multiple birth was 1.7%, and a significant correlation between multiple birth and birth order was revealed. Further studies are necessary to elucidate the etiology and prognosis of multiple birth and the developmental problems from birth to adolescence.

Korean Circulation Journal 1981;11(2):123-127
Twenty four hyperlipidemic patients, consist of 13 males and 11 females, were administration a new hypolipidemic agents, Pantethine, and blood lipid level were checked sereally for 16 weeks. The following results are obtained. 1. The serum high density lipoprotein-cholesterol are markedly increased by 11.8%. 2. The serum cholesterol level are reduced mildly by 4.8% & it seems to be insignificant. 3. The serum triglyceride level are moderately reduced by 10.7%. 4. In 11 female patients, pantethine are more than effect on male patients. 5. Pantethine has been well tolerated in most patients. With a consideration of remakable safety, it is promising that pantethine are effective in reducing cholesterol, Triglyceride and increasing high density lipoprotein-cholesterol level.

9.The Time of the First Stool and Urine by the Low Birth Weight, Premature Infant.
Chong Ku YOON ; Eung Sang CHOI
Journal of the Korean Pediatric Society 1979;22(11):947-955
The times of passage of the first stool and urine in the newborn infant are important because delayed micturition may indicate urinary tract pathology and failure to pass meconium may be an early sign of intestinal obsturuction. Times of first void and first stool in 180 consecutive low birth weight, premature infant born at Seoul National University Hospital during 44 months from January 1976 to August 1979 were recorded. Available data were gathered with regard to gestional age.The aim was to determine the relation of the first void and first stool to gestational age, mode of delivery, initial feeding and Apgar score. All infants voided by 34 hours with a tendency for preterm woid early. There was a delay in the passage of the meconium by the low birth weight, premature infant as compared with full term infant.Smaller gestational age group tended to pass the meconium late in all groups and early feeding group tended to pass the first meconium and the first void early. But there was no differences of the time of the first meconium and first urination between Apgar score or mode of delivery. If meconium passage did not occur within 24 hours after birth, close observations were needed. But Failure of low birth weight infants to pass meconium by 36 hours shoul call for examination to determine the cause of delay of meconium passage. Similarly, close observation of all premature who have not voided for 24 hours is indicated.

Annals of Dermatology 2000;12(4):306-309
A 4-year-old boy has had a solitary sclerotic depressed plaque on the right anterior chest since birth. The histopathologic findings are consistent with morphea profunda: thickening, hyalinization, and homogenization of collagen bundles in the dermis and subcutaneous tissues, admixture with a prominent lymphocytic and plasma cell infiltrate, and sweat glands en-trapped between the thickened collagen bundles. We report a case of congenital solitary morphea profunda.
