The spinal injuries were reported by relatively low incidence than other fracture and dislocation in the body. However, the rate of spine injury tend to increase year by year as the rate of traffic accident and industrial accident have been increased. Authors have experienced 403 cases of various type of injuries from Jan, 1966 to Aug. 1971. They were analysed as follows. 1. Out of 330 patient, males were 212 cases (64.2%) and female 118 (37.8%) Among them 74% of cases were between 20 to 40 years of age. About 51.9% of cases of the spinal injury were caused by traffic road accident. 2. The most most common fracture site in the spinal segments were between 12th thoracic spine and 2nd lumbar spine (69.0%) and most common types of spine injury was simple wedge fracture (70.7%) which is induced by flexion violence. 3. The stable injuries of the spine (69.4% 229 cases) were treated by functional methods such as bed rest, early ambulation. Injured spine were not immobilized in cast. They gave a more functional results than rigidly immobilized group. 4. 27 cases (8.2%) were complicated by paraplegia and mostly (59.3%) were caused by rotational fracture-dislocation. The common site of lesion were between D12-L2 (67.4%) 5. Among the 185 cases who were followed over 6 months, sponetaneous spinal fusion within 6 months after injury occured in 166 cases (89.7%) 76.8% of them were fused within 4 months. 6. Among the 27 paralysed cases, 3 were died within 2 weeks of admission, and 3 cases had complete recovery without residua.

Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic inflammatory systemic disease of young or middle aged adults, characterized by destructive and proliferative changes in synovial membrane, periarticular structure, skeletal muscle and perineural sheaths. Eventually, joints are destroied, ankylosed and deformed. Moderate anemia is occured frequently in rheumatoid arthritis patients, and these patients show abnormalities of iron metabolism such as lower serum iron concentration and occurance and distribution of iron in the synovial membrane. It has been suggested that the mechanism of iron deposits in rheumatoid arthritis is continuous oozing of blood from vascular granulation tissue into the synovial cavity and this lead the patient to anemia. We collected samples from serum and knee joint fluid in 21 cases of rheumatoid arthritis for chemical estimation of the ferritin concentration by radioimmunoassay, and compared with that of osteoarthritis. The following results were obtained: 1. The mean hemoglobin concentration(11.4gm %) in rheumatoid arthritis was lower than osteoarthritis(13.4gm %). 2. The mean serum ferritin concentration(118. 4ng/ml) in rheumatoid arthritis was lower than osteoarthritis(135. 6ng/ml), on the contrary in synovial fluid rheumatoid arthritis(279.8ng/ml) showed higher than osteoarthritis(190. 4ng/ml). 3. The mean ratio of synovial fluid ferritin on serum ferritin was 2. 36 in rheumatoid arthritis, in contrast with l. 4 in osteoarthritis. There was significant correlation between the ferritin concentration in synovial fluid and serum. 4. Serial check of ferritin concentration in synovial fluid during treatment would be thought meaningful criteria for determination of progress.and effectiveness of treatment.

The authors report a case of intradural myxopapillary ependymoma of the cauda equina that was clinically similary to herniated lumbar disc disease. The tumor was totally removed under microsurgical condition and the diagnosis was confirmed pathologically.

The papillary eccrine adenoma is a rare benign sweat gland neoplasm charscterized by potentislly locally aggressive clinical course. We report herein a case of papillsry eccrine adenoma in a 28-year-old female who presented single intradermal tumor on the right postauricular ares. Histopathological findings showed dilated ducts containing eosinophilic or keratinous materials and intraluminal papillary rowths.

Many investigators have shown that computer analysis of exercise induced ST segment changes in feasible and valid. This technique should make it possible to achieve uniformity of interpretation. Though myocardial ischemic response, arrhythmia, R wave amplitude and heart rate changes are documented by CASE exactly, blood pressure change, subjective and objective signs are assessed clinicall only. Therefore, both CASE and clinical analysis are demanded for the precise interpretation of GXT. Two hundred and ten patients, aged 22-68 y/o, were evaluated for comparative analysis between CASE and clinical assessment. The following results were obtained; 1) The sensitiivity of CASE to clinical analysis is 70.2%. 2) Among the 40 cases with ST segment-positive response, 24 cases(60%) had a less than 2mm ST depression and 16 cases(40%) had a more than 2mm ST depression. 3) Among the 40 cases with ST segment-positive response, 30 cases(75%) had a increased in R wave amplitude of 2.8mm in average, while among the 153 cases with GXT-negative response, 61 cases(39.9%) had R wave increase of 1.5mm in average. 4) Increment of systolic blood pressure per MET was 5.6 mmHg. There was no significant difference by age.
