3.A case of meigs' syndrome occured in pregnancy.

Meigs' syndrome consists of an ovarian fibroma, or fibroma-like benign tumor, associated with fluid in both abdomen and chest. Characteristically, the ascites and hydrothorax disappeared and do not recurred following removal of the ovarian tumor. The authors presented a case of Meigs' syndrome that was cured by surgical removal of ovarian tumor and resulted in normal pregnancy outcome in 27-year-old pregnant woman with a brief review of literatures.

4.A Case of Cerebral Infarction and Subdural Hemorrhage after Aseptic Meningitis.

After aseptic or septic meningitis, some neurologic complications such as convulsions, delirium, rigidity, cerebral infarctions and cerebral hemorrhage can be developed. The cerebral infarction after meningitis is caused by arterial or venous occlusions. Involvement of small perforating arteries leads to ganglionic infarcts while severe sapsm of major vessels may lead to massive infarctions in the distribution of middle and/or anterior cerebral arteries. Cortical venous and/or dural thrombosis (especially in the superior sagittal sinus) produces typical features, including multiple areas of white matter hemorrhagic infarction. These neurologic complications are common in bacterial meningitis and very rare in aseptic meningitis. We experienced a case of cerebral infarction in MCA/ACA territory and subdural hemorrhage in occipital lobe after aseptic meningitis in 10 month-old-boy. We report a case with a brief review of related literature.

5.Effects of Low Intensity Exercise Program with Telephone Coaching on Physical Fitness in the Elderly Served Home Visiting Nursing Care.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of low intensity exercise program with telephone coaching on the physical fitness of elderly people who are receiving home visiting nursing care. METHOD: This study was conducted using a non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design. The participants were 61 elders. Elders (34) in the experimental group performed low intensity exercise and of these 16 received telephone coaching. The low intensity exercise program consisted of stretching, muscle strengthening with an elastic band, massage, and ball exercise, five days a week, for sixteen weeks. Data were collected from July 2007 to December 2007. chi-square-test, ANCOVA with SPSS WIN 11.0 program were used to analyse the data. RESULTS: There were statistical differences in the right grasping power in the right hand (p=0.021), Raising behind of right arm (p=0.006), Raising behind of left arm (p=0.007). CONCLUSION: These results indicate, that a low intensity exercise program with telephone coaching can help improve physical fitness in elders receiving served home visiting nursing care.

6.Robot-Assisted Retroauricular Anterior Scalenectomy for Neurogenic Thoracic Outlet Syndrome

Background:
This study described the surgical technique of a robot-assisted retroauricular anterior scalenectomy and assessed clinical outcomes and complications for patients with neurogenic thoracic outlet syndrome (nTOS).
Methods:
Between February 2014 and August 2016, 5 patients underwent robot-assisted retroauricular anterior scalenectomy using the da Vinci Xi system for nTOS. For clinical assessment, visual analog scale (VAS) symptom score, pinch and grip strength, and disabilities of arm, shoulder and hand (DASH) score were assessed to compare preoperative and postoperative outcomes. Postoperative complications were also reviewed.
Results:
The VAS symptom, pinch and grip strength, and DASH scores improved 1 year after the operation. All patients were satisfied with the surgical scars. Temporary postoperative complications, which spontaneously resolved within 3 months, were noticed in 2 patients: one with vocal cord palsy and the other with upper brachial plexus palsy.
Conclusions
The robot-assisted retroauricular anterior scalenectomy for patients with nTOS seems feasible and safe, providing satisfactory cosmetic results.
7.Efficacy of Embryonic Stem Cell-derived Dopaminergic Neurons and E12 Mesencephalic Neuronal-precursor Derived Dopaminergic Neurons as a Source for Transplantation in Parkinsonian Rats.

BACKGROUND: This study was performed to compare efficiency of embryonic stem (ES) cell-derived dopaminergic (DA) neurons from E12 mesencephalic neuronal-precursor derived DA neuron, and to assess the value of these neurons as a donor cells to transplant in Parkinson's disease. METHODS: ES cell-derived DA neurons from E12 mesencephalic neuronal-precursor derived DA neuron were transplanted in Parkinsonian rats and analyzed TH immunoreactivity and apomorphin-induced rotation test. RESULTS: Transplanting of ES cell derived DA neurons into the rat striatum caused gradual increase of expression of tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) immunoreactivity 6 weeks after transplant in host striatum. Rotation behavior was gradually on the decrease, 6 weeks after transplant of ES cell derived DA neurons. In case of E12 mesencephalic precursor derived DA neurons, the TH immunoreactivity expressed 6 weeks after transplant in striatum, and the behavioral restoration of DA-mediated motor asymmetry sustained gradually. However, transplanted ES cell derived DA neurons appeared in wide regions among the needle tract with a relatively high density of TH immunoreactivity in comparison to the E12 mesencephalic precursor DA neurons, and graft volume of ES cell derived DA neurons were larger than E12 mesencephalic precursor derived DA neuron. In addition, both cells did not appear cancerous change after transplantation. CONCLUSIONS: These results suggest that ES cell is more efficient than E12 mesencephalic precursor derived dopaminergic neuron and will supply efficient donor cells for transplantation in Parkinson's disease.

8.A Study of Antidepressant and Mood Stabilizer's Effect on Phase of Peripheral Circadian Rhythm in Rat Fibroblast.

OBJECTIVE: Circadian rhythm is cyclic variations in biological activity, which is crucial for physiology in mammals and alterations in circadian rhythm may be related to mood disorders. However, the effect of mood disorder medications on peripheral tissue is less understood. In this study, we investigated whether treatment with antidepressants, antipsychotics, and mood stabilizers in rat fibroblast influenced circadian rhythm. METHODS: Lithium, bupropion, risperidone, lamotrigine, and paroxetine were used on cultured NIH3T3, peripheral rat fibroblast and we observed the periodic oscillation and rhythmicity of Per2, Bmal1 mRNA for 48 hours. RESULTS: We found that lithium has a dose-dependent effect on phase change of circadian rhythm and buproipion has a tendency to dampen the amplitude. Risperidone, lamotrigine, and paroxetine had no influence on circadian rhythm in NIH3T3 cell. CONCLUSION: These results suggest that lithium treatment may have an effect on circadian rhythm lengthening in peripheral fibroblast tissue.
