Objective To investigate the association of prevalence of periodontitis with metabolic syndrome (MS). Methods Data were analyzed from 1 650 Uygur rural residents in Moyu County. The subjects, aged over 18 years, were sampled randomly from 15 villages out of total 364 villages. Questionnaire, oral examination, and blood biochemical indicators were collected. The subjects were divided into groups with and without periodontitis based on chronic periodontitis diagnostic criteria, and the group with periodontitis was further divided into subgroups, each with mild, moderate, and severe periodontitis respectively. The diagnosis of MS was madeaccording to the definition of the International Diabetes Federation in 2005. Results Among 1 415 subjects whosedata were complete, there were 275 ( 19.4% ) subjects with MS and 934 (66.0%) subjects with periodontitis. The prevalence of MS was higher in the group with periodontitis than that without perionontitis (23.1% vs 12.3%, x2=23.9, P<0. 001 ). The prevalence of MS was increased with the grade of periodontitis, being 19.8%, 20.8%,27.6% in the mild, moderate, and severe periodontitis groups, respectively(x2= 31.9, P<0. 001 ). Multiple logistic regression analysis showed that the risk of MS increased with the grade of periodontitis, with OR 1. 6, 1.7,1.9, respectively, in the groups with mild, moderate, and severe periodontitis compared with that without perionontitis ( P<0.05 or P<0.01 ). Conclusions The prevalence of MS was related to periodontitis in the Uygur nationality and increased with the grade of periodontitis.

Purpose: This study evaluated the clinical and radiological outcomes of TFNA (Trochanteric Fixation NailAdvanced; Depuy Synthes) for the treatment of proximal femur fractures. Materials and Methods: This was a retrospective study of 64 patients diagnosed with a proximal femur fracture from January 2019 to November 2019. The patient’s demographic data, preoperatively and postoperatively Koval grade, modified Harris hip score, EQ-5D (Euro-Qol-5 Dimension), sliding and advancement of the blade, radiologic outcome, and complications were investigated. Results: Fifty patients were available for evaluation at one year postoperatively. The patients reported the following: the Koval grade decreased after surgery; the modified Harris hip score decreased from 78.56±8.88 to 72.74±6.59 (p=0.149); the mean EQ-5D decreased from 0.75±0.09 to 0.72±0.06 (p=0.000). Satisfactory reduction was achieved on a postoperative radiographic examination in 47 patients in six months. Complications occurred in seven cases. Conclusion TFNA is considered an appropriate implant for treating intertrochanteric fractures of the femur with a minimum follow-up of one year.

Objective:To understand the current situation of hospice care attitude among nursing students in Tibet university, to analyze the factors affecting nursing students' attitude towards hospice care; put forward the intervention measures to promote the development of hospice care ability.Methods:From June to August, 2019, 194 nursing undergraduates from Medical College of Tibet University were surveyed by questionnaire, including the Chinese version of the Frommelt Hospice care attitude scale (Fatcod-B), the Caring Ability evaluation scale (CAI), and the general nursing students questionnaire. SPSS 24.0 was used to transcribe and statistically analyze the data.Results:The total score of the hospice care attitude of nursing students was (93.56±7.42), the average score of items was (3.22 ± 0.25), and the highest score of caring attitude was (3.68 ± 0.56), the attitude dimension score of communication with terminal patients was the lowest (2.66 ± 0.42). The ability of nursing students to care for others, the degree of death topic discussion and the experience of other people's death can influence their palliative care attitude.Conclusions:The attitude of the undergraduate nursing students in Tibet is above the middle. Palliative care, and the nursing students' caring ability and communication ability should be improved by strengthening the practical experience and education and training, so as to promote the development of the students' palliative care ability.

Objective:To explore the risk factors of primary acute mesenteric venous thrombosis (AMVT) in plateau area.Methods:Data of 54 primary AMVT cases admitted to the People's Hospital of Tibet Autonomous Region between Jan 2015 and Jul 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. There were 42 males and 12 females, aged from 29-79 years. One hundred and ninty matched volunteers severed as control. Logistic multivariate regression analysis was used to screen out independent risk factors. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve and the area under the curve are used to evaluate the value of each indicator and model prediction.Results:Univariate analysis showed that the two groups were significantly different in gender, smoking history, drinking history, and hemoglobin concentration ( P<0.05); there was no significant difference in age, altitude of residence, uric acid and BMI ( P>0.05). Logistic multivariate regression analysis showed that male ( OR=2.466, 95% CI: 1.166-5.212, P=0.018), elevated hemoglobin levels ( OR=2.761, 95% CI: 1.411-5.403, P=0.003) were independent risk factors for primary AMVT. The area under the ROC curve of the two predictors and prediction model are 0.639 (95% CI: 0.559-0.719), 0.650 (95% CI: 0.563-0.737), 0.697 (95% CI: 0.618-0.776). Conclusion:Male and elevated hemoglobin levels are independent risk factors for primary AMVT in plateau areas.

Objective To better understand the clinical management of tumor-induced osteomalacia (TIO) by analyzing the clinical features, diagnosis, treatment, postoperative biochemical changes, and clinical status in 12 cases of TIO. Methods Twelve cases of TIO hospitalized from 2004 to April 2010 were reviewed retrospectively. All cases were diagnosed based on their clinical manifestation, hypophosphatemia, and image study including technetium-99m octreotide scintigraphy (99mTc-Oct). Resuits There were 7 males and 5 females with mean age of (41.8±9.6) years (20 to 56 years). The course of disease was from 2 to 14 years ( median course 4.0 years). They all presented with bone pain, gait disturbance, muscle pain, and muscle weakness. Serum phosphate( Pi)levels were low in 12 cases with a range from 0.30 to 0.56 mmol/L. 99mTc-Oct was performed in 9 cases and it showed that the lesions were located in head of femur, fibula, retrocalcaneal area, foot, humerus,metacarpal, posterior chest wall or near nasal bone (apex partis petrosae ossis temporalis). Subcutaneous soft tissue mass was found in another 3 cases at loin, thigh, and foot by physical examination. The tumors were confirmed by CT, MRI or ultrasonography. Twelve patients underwent operation to remove the tumors and histopathology showed hemangioendothelioma or fibrous angioma (6 cases), giant cell tumor or fibroma of tendon sheath(4 cases), liposarcoma(1case), and phosphaturic mesenchymal tumor(1case). Serum Pi levels returned to normal in 10 patients after resection of tumor. During 2 to 64 months follow up, symptoms of bone pain and muscle weakness were improved obviously. Conclusions Patients with hypophosphatemic osteomalacia should be thoroughly investigated for TIO. 99mTc-Oct and other imaging examinations can effectively locate the tumors. Once the hidden tumor is found and excised, the patient will recover and enjoy normal life with normalized Pi concentrations and marked improvement of symptoms.

Objective:To examine the effect of applying clinical pathway model in the cultivation of humanistic care ability of nursing college students in clinical practical teaching.Methods:The study collected 52 nursing students who practiced in the department of gynecology of a tertiary first-class hospital in Xi’an from July to October, 2017 as the control group, and 52 nursing students who practiced in the same unit from July to October, 2018 were selected as the experimental group. The control group adopted the teaching method of infiltrating humanistic care education into the training process of operational skills, while the experimental group adopted the teaching method of cultivating humanistic care ability of nursing college students through clinical pathway. The differences of humanistic care ability scores between the two groups were compared. SPSS 19.0 was used for t test. Results:Before the internship, there was no statistically significant difference in humanistic care scores between the two groups ( P>0.05). After the internship, the total scores of nursing students in the experimental group were significantly higher than those in the control group ( P<0.05). Conclusion:Applying the clinical pathway model to the cultivation of humanistic care ability of nursing students in clinical practice teaching is a new cultivation model of humanistic care ability, which is helpful to improve the humanistic care ability of nursing students.

Prostate cancer is the most frequently diagnosed malignancy and the second leading cause of cancer mortality among men in the United States. Accumulating evidence suggests that lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) serves as an autocrine/paracrine mediator to affect initiation, progression and metastasis of prostate cancer. In the current study, we demonstrate that LPA stimulates migration and proliferation of highly metastatic human prostate cancer, PC-3M-luc-C6 cells. LPA-induced migration of PC-3M-luc-C6 cells was abrogated by pretreatment of PC-3M-luc-C6 cells with the LPA receptor 1/3 inhibitor Ki16425 or small interfering RNA (siRNA)-mediated silencing of endogenous LPA receptor 1, implicating a key role of the LPA-LPA receptor 1 signaling axis in migration of PC-3M-luc-C6 cells. In addition, LPA treatment resulted in augmented expression levels of Kruppel-like factor 4 (KLF4), and siRNA or short-hairpin RNA (shRNA)-mediated silencing of KLF4 expression resulted in the abolishment of LPA-stimulated migration and proliferation of PC-3M-luc-C6 cells. shRNA-mediated silencing of KLF4 expression resulted in the inhibition of in vivo growth of PC-3M-luc-C6 cells in a xenograft transplantation animal model. Taken together, these results suggest a key role of LPA-induced KLF4 expression in cell migration and proliferation of prostate cancer cells in vitro and in vivo.

Objective To explore the association between chronic periodontitis and hypertension in rural adult Uygur residents.Methods A total of 1415 Uygur residents aged 18 and over were selected by random multistage and probability proportional to size from 364 villages in Moyu county of Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region,all subjects received questionnaire,physical examination and biochemical analysis and oral examination.The subjects were categorized as periodontitis group and no periodontitis group,the periodontitis group was further categorized as mild,moderate and severe periodontitis subgroup.The relationship between chronic periodontitis with hypertension was analyzed by Spearman correlation.Binary logistic regression was used to calculate the influential factors for hypertension.Results The prevalence rates of chronic periodontitis and hypertension were 66.0％ (934/1415) and 33.8％ (478/1415),respectively.The prevalence rates of hypertension were 18.7％ ( 90/481 ),35.1％ ( 131/373 ),32.3％(62/192),52.8％ (195/369) in no periodontitis,mild,moderate and severe periodontitis groups,respectively.Spearman correlation showed an association of chronic periodontitis with hypertension (rs =0.273,P ＜ 0.01 ).After adjustment for age,gender,body mass index,waist circumference,glycometabolism disorder,hyperlipidemia,chronic kidney disease,multiple logistic regression analysis showed that periodontitis was significantly associated with hypertension ( OR = 1.75,95％ CI:1.30 - 2.36,P ＜0.01 ).Compared with no periodontitis,mild ( OR = 1.76,95％CI:1.26 -2.48,P ＜0.01 ) and severe ( OR = 2.26,95％ CI:1.57 - 3.26,P ＜ 0.01 ) periodontitis were significantly associated with hypertension while moderate periodontitis was not significantly associated with hypertension ( OR = 1.21,95％ CI:0.80 - 1.84,P ＞ 0.05 ).Conclusion This study showed an independent association of periedontitis with hypertension in this study cohort.

OBJECTIVE: This study was conducted to determine the effectiveness and safety of medical treatment with sublingual misoprostol (MS) in the 1st trimester miscarriage under the approval by Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service (HIRA) for off-label usage by the single medical center in Korea. METHODS: A retrospective cohort study was performed in one institution between April 2013 and June 2016. Ninety-one patients diagnosed with miscarriage before 14 weeks of gestation and wanted to try medical treatment were included. A detailed ultrasound scan was performed to confirm the diagnosis. Patients took 600 microgram (mcg) of MS sublingually at initial dose, and repeated the same dose 4–6 hours apart. Successful medical abortion was defined as spontaneous expulsion of gestational products (including gestational sac, embryo, fetus, and placenta). If gestational products were not expelled, surgical evacuation was performed at least 24 hours later from the initial dose. Information about side effects was obtained by medical records. RESULTS: About two-thirds of patients had a successful outcome. The median interval time from pill to expulsion was 18 hours in the successful medical treatment group. There was no serious systemic side effect or massive vaginal bleeding. Presence or absence of vaginal spotting before diagnosis of miscarriage, uterine leiomyomas, subchorionic hematoma, or distorted shape of gestational sac on ultrasound scan were not statistically different between the two groups. CONCLUSION: Medical treatment with sublingual MS can be a proper option for the 1st trimester miscarriage, especially for the patient who want to avoid surgical procedure. We can reduce the unnecessary sedation or surgical intervention in the patients with the 1st trimester miscarriage.
