Yeungnam University Journal of Medicine 1993;10(1):226-236
Seperation anxiety disorder(SAD) is characterized by excessive anxiety about being apart from the individuals to whom a child is most attached. We noticed a case of a 13 year old boy's SAD with symptoms of nausea/vomiting, stomachache, school refusal, and severe weight loss. His mother was overanxious and overdependent but her'dependency was frustrated due to family problem. We investigated this case from a point of developmental aspect and family dynamics and tried to attempt therapeutic approach.

5.Sonographic measurement of the gallbladder
Jung Wha JANG ; Sang Sook PARK
Journal of the Korean Radiological Society 1984;20(4):872-877
It is essential to estimate the size, volume and wall thickness of the gallbladder in diagnosis of the gallbladder disease. Author measured maximum length, A-P diameter, width, wall thickness and volume of gallbladder ultrasonographically in 130 normal adults. The results are as follows; 1. The mean length of the gallbladder was 5.88±0.97 cm. 2. The mean A-P diameter of the gallbladder was 2.49±0.52c, on longitudinal scan and 2.48±0.42cm on coronal scan. 3. The mean width of the gallbladder was 2.48±0.46cm. 4. The mean wall thickness of thegallbladder was 2.09±0.29mm. 4. The mean volume of gallbladder was 27.09±10.07cm² by single cylinder method and 18.27±9.04cm³ by Weill method, but there was linear correlation between the two methods(p<0.001).

6.An Experimental Study of the Effect of Alcohol and Blood on the Bonding Strength of Bone Cement in Relation to the Applied Compression Force
Sang Won PARK ; Kyeung Ho JANG
The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1979;14(2):325-331
The author performed an experiment to measure the bonding strength of acrylic bone cement when the bonding surfaces of bones were under various conditions; namely different axial compression forces and different means of preservation of bones, in the air and in Hartman's solution. Mechanical tests for compression forces revealed that the bonding strength was greatest when the bonding surfaces were dry, being weaker when soaked with alcohol and whole blood, in that order. When different strengths of axial compression forces were applied, the bonding strength was greatest at 5 kg of compression force, being weaker at 3 kg and 1 kg, in that order. The bonding strength was greater when the bones were preserved in the air than in Hartman's solution.

It is socially fortunate that there is little chance in the civil hospital to experience the victims of high velocity missiles. However it is reasonable thought to educate doctors about the gunshot and explosive injuries who might be mobilized in emergency condition. Authors have experiences to treat the high velocity missile wounds. In order to provide valid data to be an educational material, we clinically analyzed 41cases of those injuries who were treated at the Capital Armed Forces General Hospital from 19xx to 19xx. The results obtained were as follows: 1. In 15 cases there were only soft tissue injuries, The remaining 26 cases had the bone injuries and six of them had two injury sites. 2. In 28 cases the lower extremities were injuried, and they out-numbered the injury of upper extremities. The most frequent site of injuries was the thigh (31.7%). 3. Most common associated injuries were the periphenal nerve injuries, which numbered 10 cases. 4. The early operative treatments were given in 5 out of 32 cases having bone injuries. And the secondary operations, including bone graft and intemal fixation, had to be done in 10 out of the remaining 27 cases due to delayed union or nonunion. 5. There was no infection in cases having only the soft tissue injuries. But the localized osteomyelitis occurred in 4 cases among the cases having bony injuries. 6. Factors affecting the result of high velocity missile wounds were presence of bony involvement, site and extent of injuries, associated thoracoabdominal injuries and presence of peripheral nerve injuries and infection. 7. The evacuation time, chance of early adequate wound management, site of injury and extent of injury were the important factors in deciding the method of treatment. We suggest that the more selective and aggressive measures should be taken in the management of bony injuries.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1981;19(3):253-259
Penicillin is still the first choice of drug in the treatment of gonorrhea. The ever lowering sensitivity of Neisseria gonorrhoeae to penicillin and the emergence of PPNG (Penicillinase Producing Neisseria Gonorrhoeae) in the Far East and other parts of the world neceessitate reapprisal of treatrnent schedules with penicillin for gonococcal infections. In Korea, no authentical study in this regard has been done recently. The presence of intracellular gram r.egative diplococci in urethral smear as weIl as the presence of oxidase positive typical, round, convex, smooth, glistening, tratmslucent, greyish colonies of 0.5 to 2mm in diameter a 24 hours composed of grarn negative diplococci are used for presump'ive evidence of gonococccal infection 224 male patients with acnte uncomplicated gonococal infections were treated one of following regimens. Regimen A: 4.8mega unit combicillin (3.6mega unit procaine penicillin+l.2 mega unit sodium penicillin) i.m.. preceded by 1gm probenecid p.o., Regirnen B: 4.8 mega unit procaine penicillin i.m. preceded by 1gm probenecid P.O. Regimen A showed 14 failures(11.3% arnong 124. Regimen B showed 19 failures (19%) among 100 It is suggested that in Korea sesnsitivity to penicillin of Yeisseria gonorrhoeae is quite low.

Korean Journal of Pathology 1994;28(4):368-375
TO evaluate the histopathologic features of gastric mucosa by Helicobacter pylori (HP), we reviewed 70 endoscopically biopsied chronic gastritis and peptic ulcer. The results are as fonows. l. HP was detected in 923% (48/52) of active gastritis, 8l8% (9/l l) of peptic ulcer and l43% (1/7) of chronic gastritis. The prevalence of HP infection was significantly higher in active gastritis and peptic ulcer than chronic gastritis (P<0005). 2. The infiltration of intraepithelial neutrophil of the 58 HP-positive cases was significantly more than of the l2 HP-negative cases (P<0005). 3. The infiltration of neutrophil and chronic inflammatory cells in the lamina propria of the 58 HP positive cases were significantly more than of 12 HP-negative cases (P<0.005, P<0.01) 4. The gastric epithelium of 58 HP positive case showed characteristic degenerative change, such as epithelial pits (93.l%), irregular surface (84.4%), individua1 cell drop-out (46.5%) and microerosion (27.6%). The similiar changes were not seen in l2 HP-negative cases. In summary, HP is significantly correlated with inflammatory reaction of the gastric mucosa. It is also significantly correlated with the epithelial degenerative changes that is considered to the precursor of peptic ulcer.
