Calvarium protects the brain, the most important organ. The defect of calvarium results in not only deformity but also fatal injury from the trauma. The cranial bone defects result from 1) removal of bone flap for intracranial decompression or infection 2) fracture 3) excision of tumor 4) craniectomy for craniosynostosis. The goals of cranioplasty are to protect the brain from trauma and make the aesthetically acceptable contour. From 1990 to 1995, we experienced twelve cases of cranioplasty using autogenous bone graft; 5 cases with rib bone, 3 cases with iliac bone, 2 cases with calvarial bone, and 2 cases with rib and calvarial bones. The result was very excellent without any significant complications.

There are various complex formations between immunoglobulin and serum enzymes in the body. Of these, LD-Immunoglobulin complex is most common. It has reported that LD-IgG or LD-IgA complex existed in the serum of healthy person or many patients who have various clinical disorders. The clinical significance of complexes is not known, but it results in the increase of total LD activity and interference to the LD isoenzyme electrophoresis interpretation due to its anomalous pattern. We have reported a case of LD-Immunoglobulin complex in AILD(Angioimmunoblastic lymphadenopathy with dysproteinemia) with reference. The patient was admitted with fever, chills and cervical LN enlargement, in LN biopsy, diagnosed AILD, and during treatment expired by sepsis. Since admission, serum total LD activities were increased and serum LD isoenzyme EP showed that LD3-5 fractions was not separated in broad single band. Its pattern was due to LD-immunoglobulin complex, LD-bound immunoglobulin was IgG ,lamda. For the identification of immunoglobulin, we at first did serum protein immunoelectrophoresis. then stained the plate with tetrazolium dye for LD activity.

We evaluated the result of treating myopia and compound myopic astigmatism in 50 eyes using the SCMD turbokeratotome and Visx 20/20 excimer laser with vision key card system. Manifest and cycloplegic refraction, uncorrectedand spectacle corrected visual acuity, corneal topography, pachymetry, slit lamp microscopy, fundus examination, and applanation tonometry were recorded preoperatively and at 1 week, 1, 2, 3 and 6 months postoperatively. The mean spherical epuivalent was changed from -9.1+/-2.47D to -1.37+/-1.28D at 3 month after surgery. 93.3% of eyes had uncorrected visualacuity of 20/40 or better at 3 months follow-up. No eye had visually significant ecntral cornealhaze. Complications such as over- or under correction, interface metallic debris, astigmatism, corneal erosion, incomplete flap, and total cutted flap were occurred. Conclusively, LASIK has good resuls but it is not complication-free procedure, and there is definitely a learning curve.
