6.Literature Study of Chinese Medicine in Treating Malignant Ascites Based on CNKI
Chinese Journal of Information on Traditional Chinese Medicine 2014;(4):22-25
Objective To summarize the herbal medication in treating malignant ascites based on literature. Methods TCM literatures concerning malignant ascites from CNKI (1989.1-2013.3) were retrieved. The herbs and those category, nature, flavor and meridian distribution were summarized by frequency method. The couple herbs were analyzed by hierarchical cluster analysis. Results Fifty-five qualified documents and 56 effective prescriptions were collected. A total of 164 herbs were used (668 frequencies). Six groups of herbs, cumulative relative frequency (CRF) of 61.83%, were used frequently in order as follows:the herbs for promoting diuresis and resolving dampness, invigorating qi, invigorating the blood and removing blood stasis, regulating qi, eliminating heat and toxin, excreting drastically water. The most frequently used herbs (>6 frequencies, CRF 53.74%) had 25 species. The first three places were the herbs for promoting diuresis and resolving dampness (5 species), invigorating qi (4 species), invigorating the blood and removing blood stasis (3 species). These herbs were mostly of warm nature (260 frequencies, 38.92%). The total frequency of herb-nature was 1055 and the sweet (354 frequencies, 33.55%), bitter (284 frequencies, 26.92%) and pungent (268 frequencies, 25.40%) herbs were used more frequently. The total frequency of meridian distribution was 1747 and these herbs were mostly attributed to spleen, lung, liver, and kidney meridians (>200 frequencies). The most frequently used couple-herbs included Poria and Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae, Radix Astragali and Ramulus Cinnamomi, etc. Conclusion Invigorating qi was emphasized in treating malignant ascites, combined with promoting diuresis. The herbs of the warm and cold nature, the sweet, bitter and pungent flavor, spleen, lung, liver and kidney meridians were most frequently used.
7.Eight therapies of resolving phlegm and dispersing nodules in treatment of gastric cancer: experience from Professor Wei Pin-kang.
Journal of Integrative Medicine 2011;9(10):1066-9
Professor Wei Pin-kang developed phlegm theory for gastric cancer. He adopted the therapy of resolving phlegm and dispersing nodules as the fundamental therapy for gastric cancer. As the symptoms may vary due to the changes of etiology and pathogenesis at different stages of gastric cancer, he further formulated eight therapies based on the fundamental therapy, namely, resolving phlegm and regulating stomach, resolving phlegm and removing stagnancy, resolving phlegm and clearing heat toxin, resolving phlegm and relieving qi depression, resolving phlegm and dredging collaterals, resolving phlegm and removing blood stasis, resolving phlegm and promoting diuresis, and resolving phlegm to soften abdominal mass. These therapies showed satisfactory effects following the principle of simultaneous treatment of disease and symptoms.
8.Treatment of non-small cell lung carcinoma by hyperthermia therapy combined with chemotherapy
Chinese Journal of Minimally Invasive Surgery 2001;0(06):-
Objective To evaluate therapeutic effects of hyperthermia therapy in combination with chemotherapy for the treatment of nonsmall cell lung carcinoma. Methods Fifty-two patients with non-small cell lung carcinoma underwent hyperthermia therapy in combination with chemotherapy(NP regimen) in this hospital between September 2003 and November 2006.The therapeutic effects were evaluated after 3 cycles of the combination therapy, and were compared with those from 16 patients receiving only chemotherapy between January 2006 and November 2006.Results The combination therapy offered significantly better curative short-term effects than the simple chemotherapy. The total response rate was 65.4%(34/52) for the combination therapy and 37.5%(6/16) for the simple chemotherapy(Z=-2.419,P=0.016).Significant pain relief was achieved in patients after the combination therapy, while no analgesic effect was noted after the simple chemotherapy, the difference between the two groups of patients being statistically significant(Z=6.486,P=0.000).There was no significant difference in the incidence of complications between the two groups, which mainly included nausea, granulocytopenia, thrombocytopenia, and abnormal liver functions. Conclusions Hyperthermia therapy in combination with chemotherapy compares favorably to simple chemotherapy in the treatment of non-small cell lung carcinoma.
9.Research on Instrument with Electricity Impulse Stimulation
Chinese Medical Equipment Journal 1989;0(03):-
Objective To design a stimulating instrument for physiology experiment. Methods A sine wave was produced by a high frequency oscillator, and then the sine wave increased in voltage by a transformer to accord with the maximal range needed.Afterwards, the increscent sine wave became a direct current signal with high voltage by a rectifier and a filter. Finally, the signal became a stimulating impulse to be exported by a switch, which was controlled by a controlling signal with adjustable frequency and width. Results Voltage range adjusted between 1 and 80V;Frequency adjusted between 0.1 and 200Hz;Impulse width adjusted between 0.1 and 5ms.Conclusion The stimulating instrument designed can be used to do electricity stimulating experiment in Physiology.
10.The influence of silencing miRNA-155 on proliferation and apoptosis of human cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma cell line A431
Tianjin Medical Journal 2017;45(9):902-906
Objective To investigate the effects of antisense oligonucleotide against miRNA-155 (AS-miRNA-155) on proliferation, apoptosis and invasion and migration abilities of human cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma cell line A431. Methods AS-miRNA-155 was transfected into human cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma A431 cells by using LipofectamineTM 2000. Blank control without transfection and transfected with non-sense sequence were used as non-sense sequence control. Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) was performed to detect the expression of miRNA-155 in A431 cells. Cell proliferation was analyzed using dimethyl thiazolyldiphenyl tetrazolium (MTT) assay. Cell cycle arrest and apoptosis were studied by flow cytometry (FCM). Invasion and migration were measured by Transwell chamber assays. Results The relative expression of miRNA-155 mRNA was lower in the transfection group than that in the blank control group and the negative control group (F=634.57, P<0.01), but there was no significant difference between the blank control group and the negative control group. After 72 h transfection, the survival rate was significantly lower in the transfection group than that of the blank control group and the negative control group, and the transfection rate decreased significantly by 120 h (P<0.05). Cells of G0/G1 phase increased, Cells of S phase reduced, the overall PI value decreased in transfection group, and the apoptosis rate of A431 cells, migration and invasion of cells increased (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in G2/M cycle between transfection group, blank control group and negative control group. There were no significant differences in A431 cell apoptosis rate, cell migration and invasive ability between blank control group and negative control group. Conclusion Antisense oligonucleotide against miRNA-155 can inhibit the expression of miRNA-155, the proliferation and promote the apoptosis of human cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma A431 cells, which indicates that miRNA-155 may become a new target for the regulation of gene expression in cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma.
