2.Research progress of CD+4 CD+25 Foxp3 Treg cells in the hematological malignancies
Journal of Leukemia & Lymphoma 2008;17(3):237-240
Thymus derived CD+4; CD+25 regulatory T cells (Treg) are thought to be specific T cells that play an important role in controlling autoimmunity, preventing transplant rejection, restraining anti-infectious immune response, suppressing allogeneic immune respons. More recently, these cells are reported to have the ability of suppressing antitumor immune response. Foxp3 are the most specific protein of Treg. In this review, we will discuss the expression of CD+4 CD+25 Treg in patients with hematological malignancies and its implication for immunotherapy.
3.Clinical observation of acupuncture and traction plus Ba Duan Jin (Eight-brocade Exercise) for improving discogenic low back pain
Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2020;18(5):384-389
Objective: To observe the short-term and long-term efficacy of acupuncture and traction plus Ba Duan Jin (Eight-brocade Exercise) in treating discogenic low back pain (DLBP). Methods: Sixty patients were divided into an observation group and a control group using the random number table method, with 30 cases in each group. The control group was intervened by acupuncture and traction, while the observation group was given additional Ba Duan Jin (Eight-brocade Exercise) practice. The intervention lasted for a total of 1 month, with a follow-up study conducted 6 months later. The visual analog scale (VAS) and Oswestry disability index (ODI) scores in the two groups were compared before and after treatment, and the efficacy was compared at the end of the treatment between the two groups; the relapse rate was compared at the 6-month follow-up between the two groups. Results: The pain VAS and ODI scores decreased after treatment in both groups, and the intra-group differences were statistically significant (all P<0.05); the pain VAS and ODI scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group after treatment with statistical significance (both P<0.05). At the 6-month follow-up, the relapse rate was 10.3% in the observation group versus 48.0% in the control group, and the between-group difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion: The combination of acupuncture, traction and Ba Duan Jin (Eight-brocade Exercise) is an effective method for DLBP and patients who received this method are less likely to relapse.

Journal of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University 2006;0(02):-
[Objective]The intervention of electroacupuncture (EA) on chronic inflammation and cyclooxygenase-1/-2 mRNA expressions in rats with II collagen-induced arthritis was observed in vivo, so as to discuss the effect of EA on chronic inflammation and its pivotal mechanism. [Method]Wistar rats immunized intradermally with bovine type II collagen, were served as the animal models of chronic inflammation. EA stimulation, begun on day 11 after the injection, was applied at the acupoint equivalent to ST36 for continuous 10 times. Indomethacin and refecoxib were used respectively as the control treatments of NSAID inhibitor and COX-2 selective inhibitor. The arthritic index, swelling volume of paw and concentrations of prostaglandin E_2 (PGE_2) of local tissue were investigated. Furthermore, we investigated the impact of EA on the levels of COX-1 mRNA and COX-2 mRNA in synovial tissues and gastric mucosa of inflammatory rats by using reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). [Results]All collagen-injected rats developed chronic inflammation of paws. EA remarkably reduced the paw swellings of rats on day 16 and day 21 and attenuated the severity of arthritis from the day 14 to day 21. The levels of PGE_2 in the inflammatory tissues of swollen paws were also lowered by EA. EA stimulation obviously down-regulated the expression of COX-2 mRNA in synovial tissue, but did not influence the level of COX-1 mRNA expressed in gastric mucosa. Indomethacin and refecoxib also strongly down-regulated COX-2 expression in synovial tissue. However, either indomethacin or refecoxib strongly affected the COX-1 mRNA expressions in gastric mucosa. [Conclusion] EA has a pronounced anti-inflammatory effect on collagen-induced arthritis, and the pivotal mechanism and also the advantage of its therapeutic result may be due to selective suppression of COX-2 gene activation, without destroying COX-1 activity in stomach.

Journal of Experimental Hematology 2009;17(1):1-7
As unrelated allogeneic umbilical cord blood transplantation (UCBT) has been developed for 20 years already since 1988, more than ten thousands cases have cumulatively undergone UCBT over the world. A huge number of clinical data confirmed that UCBT had unique characters with low rate of severe GVHD. The efficacy and data on TRM, relapse and EFS of allogeneic UCBT with HLA 0-1 mismatched are similar to those in HLA matched BMT. UCBT has become the optimal choice for source of hematopoietic stem cells for allogeneic stem cell transplant especially when HLA-matched or haploidentical donors are not available in time. In most developed countries, unrelated allogeneic UCBT developed successively, and in recent years HLA mismatched UCBT with double units performed in adults increased even more rapidly than in children. Another recent trend of UCBT has been extending to treat some non-malignant but refractory diseases in pediatrics, such as severe combined immunodeficiency, thalassemia major, bone marrow failure syndrome and metabolic disorders. The clinical successful practice of double units for cord blood transplantation inspires to ponder over questions remaining mystery. What is the conflict like between two mismatched donor cells in vivo, which does not spoil the whole transplantation but enable the patient to be engrafted successfully without any increment of the dosage by the sum of two doses together? How can they both be taken at the same time firstly by the recipient, but why does only one predominate later? What are the factors enable the donor cells of the winner to sustain? With the references of the international experiences, how to solve the clinical encountered problems, perspective of unrelated allogeneic UCBT and proper strategies to be enacted are reviewed.

Chinese Journal of Behavioral Medicine and Brain Science 2008;17(3):193-195
Objective Using apomorphine, a potent dopamine receptor agonist and rotating T-maze, the effect of apomorphine on the visual discrimination learning and reversal learning in rats was investigated. Methods All rats were trained in a visual discrimination task (food reward and light stimulus) in rotating T-maze. After reaching the acquisition criterion, rats were trained in a reversal task (food reward and without light stimulus) in the same maze. During the period of visual discrimination task, apomorphine was administrated either 30 minutes prior to learning or after learning immediately. Results The results showed that apomorphine, which was given either 30 minutes prior to visual discrimination learning or after learning, could impair the acquisition of discrimination learning( 259.20±26.29 and 264.00±16.97, compared to 168.00±16.97 and 163.20±20.08) and apomorphine, which was given only after visual discrimination learning, could impair the acquisition of reversal learning (451.20±39.44 compared to 360.00±29.39). Conclusion The results showed that apomorphine, which was given either 30 minutes prior to visual discrimination learning or after learning, could impair the acquisition of discrimination learning and apomorphine, which was given only after visual discrimination learning, could impair the acquisition of reversal learning.
