Objective To observe the efficacy and security of Chinese Medicine fumigation based on tension balance acupuncture on spasticity after ischemic stroke. Methods From June, 2014 to June, 2017, 258 patients with spasticity after ischemic stroke were assigned into control group (n=130) and observation group (n=128). All the patients received routine rehabilitation and tension bal-ance acupuncture, and the observation group received Chinese Medicine fumigation in addition, for six weeks. They were assessed with modified Ashworth Scale (MAS), Fugl-Meyer Assessment (FMA), modified Barthel In-dex (MBI) and Neurological Deficit Scale (NDS) before, three weeks and six weeks after treatment. The inci-dence of side-effect was recorded. Results There was no significant difference in scores of FMA, MBI and NDS between two groups three weeks after treatment (P>0.05). Six weeks after treatment, the scores of FMA, MBI and NDS improved in both groups (t>7.382, P<0.05), and improved more in the observation group than in the control group (t>4.412, P<0.05), while the clinical efficacy on spasm was also better (χ2=11.121, P=0.001). The side-effect was slight in both groups. Conclusion Combination with Chinese Medicine fumigation can ameliorate the spasticity of upper limb in ischemic stroke patients, to promote the recovery of motor function and activities of daily living.

AIMTo investigate the stage-specific localization of transforming growth factor (TGF) beta1 and beta3 during spermatogenesis in adult human testis.
METHODSThe localization of TGFbeta1 and beta3 was investigated by immunohistochemical staining method employing specific polyclonal antibodies.
RESULTSBoth TGFbeta1 and beta3 and their receptors were preponderant in the Leydig cells. TGFbeta1 could not be detected in the seminiferous tubules. TGFbeta3 and TGFbeta-Receptor (R) I were mainly seen in the elongated spermatids, while TGFbeta-RII in the pachytene spermatocytes and weak in the spermatogonia, spermatids and Sertoli cells. Only TGFbeta-RII was detected in the Sertoli cells. TGFbeta3, TGFbeta-RI and TGFbeta-RII showed a staining pattern dependent upon the stages of the seminiferous epithelium cycle.
CONCLUSIONTGFbeta isoforms and their receptors are present in the somatic and germ cells of the adult human testis, suggesting their involvement in the regulation of spermatogenesis.

Chinese Medical Journal 2016;129(3):284-288
BACKGROUNDVolumetric-modulated arc therapy (VMAT) can only be implemented on the new generation linacs such as the Varian Trilogy® and Elekta Synergy®. This prevents most existing linacs from delivering VMAT. The purpose of this study was to investigate the feasibility of using a conventional linear accelerator delivering constant dose rate and constant angular spacing intensity-modulated arc therapy (CDR-CAS-IMAT) for treating cervical cancer.
METHODSTwenty patients with cervical cancer previously treated with intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) using Varian Clinical 23EX were retreated using CDR-CAS-IMAT. The planning target volume (PTV) was set as 50.4 Gy in 28 fractions. Plans were evaluated based on the ability to meet the dose volume histogram. The homogeneity index (HI), target volume conformity index (CI), the dose to organs at risk, radiation delivery time, and monitor units (MUs) were also compared. The paired t-test was used to analyze the two data sets. All statistical analyses were performed using SPSS 19.0 software.
RESULTSCompared to the IMRT group, the CDR-CAS-IMAT group showed better PTV CI (0.85 ± 0.03 vs. 0.81 ± 0.03, P = 0.001), clinical target volume CI (0.46 ± 0.05 vs. 0.43 ± 0.05, P = 0.001), HI (0.09 ± 0.02 vs. 0.11 ± 0.02, P = 0.005) and D95 (5196.33 ± 28.24 cGy vs. 5162.63 ± 31.12 cGy, P = 0.000), and cord D2 (3743.8 ± 118.7 cGy vs. 3806.2 ± 98.7 cGy, P = 0.017) and rectum V40 (41.9 ± 6.1% vs. 44.2 ± 4.8%, P = 0.026). Treatment time (422.7 ± 46.7 s vs. 84.6 ± 7.8 s, P = 0.000) and the total plan Mus (927.4 ± 79.1 vs. 787.5 ± 78.5, P = 0.000) decreased by a factor of 0.8 and 0.15, respectively. The IMRT group plans were superior to the CDR-CAS-IMAT group plans considering decreasing bladder V50 (17.4 ± 4.5% vs. 16.6 ± 4.2%, P = 0.049), bowel V30 (39.6 ± 6.5% vs. 36.6 ± 7.5%, P = 0.008), and low-dose irradiation volume; there were no significant differences in other statistical indexes.
CONCLUSIONSPatients with cervical cancer treated with CDR-CAS-IMAT using Varian Clinical 23EX can get equivalent or superior dose distribution compared to those treated with IMRT. CDR-CAS-IMAT has a less treatment time and MU, which can reduce the uncertainty factor and patient discomfort in treatment.

Objective To study the mlationship between dietary soy isoflavones and blood lipids among residents of 40-65 years old,in Guangzhou. Methods Dietary soy isoflavones and other nutrients intakes were assessed with quantitative food frequency questionnaire(FFQ).Total cholesterol(TC),triglycerides(TG),HDL cholesterol(HDL-C)and LDL cholesterol(LDL-C)in plasma were measured with colorimetry. Results Ranges of dietary soy isoflavones intake among 134 males and 261 females were fxom 0 mg/day to 61.96 mg/day and 0 mg/day to 82.52 mg/day,with means of 11.95 mg/day,14.90 mg/day,respectively.After adjusted for total energy intake and fat percent energy, difiefences of TC,LDL-C in total population and TC in women were statistically significant between groups(P value was 0.002,0.008,0.004,respectively) and dose-effect relationships(P value was <0.001.0.012.0.001,respectively)were observed between dietary soy isoflavones intake and the upper mentioned three indices.Compared with the low-intake group, tbese three indices lowered 7.06%,10.13%and 7.48%,respectively in high-intake group.Critical significance of LDL-C was observed both in women and men between groups.Further controlled for age,BMI and WHR,no obvious change of the results was observed. Conclusion Moderate intakes of soy isoflavone as part of a regular diet seemed to be associated with favorable blood lipid levels.
7.Correlation between the new lung adenocarcinoma classification and epidermal growth factor receptor mutation.
Journal of Peking University(Health Sciences) 2018;50(4):640-644
OBJECTIVE:
To evaluate the association of the histological subtype of lung adenocarcinoma with epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutation.
METHODS:
A total of 94 patients with resected lung adenocarcinoma in the Department of Thoracic Surgery of China-Japan Friendship Hospital from January 2010 to December 2014 were enrolled in the study. All specimens were tested for EGFR mutation by a company. In the 94 patients, histological subtypes were classified according to the 2011 International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer and American Thoracic Society and European Respiratory Society classification. We compared the association with the histological subtype of lung adenocarcinoma with EGFR mutation frequency by the χ2 test, with SPSS 20.0.
RESULTS:
The 94 patients of surgically resected lung adenocarcinomas were included in this analysis, of whom, 47 were male and 47 female (male:female=1:1). The median age was 61 (range: 24-79) years, and 48 of the 94 patients were 60 years and above. Regarding the pathological staging, 34 patients were diagnosed as Stage I of the disease, 17 as Stage II,24 as Stage III, and 19 as Stage IV. Among the 51 patients with EGFR mutation, exon 19 mutation was 22, exon 20 mutation was 2, exon 21 mutation was 26, exon 20 and 21 mutation were 1, and the total EGFR mutation rate was 54.3% (51/94). The cases of EGFR gene mutation of acinar predominant lung adenocarcinoma, lepidic predominant lung adenocarcinoma, papillary predominant lung adenocarcinoma, solid predominant lung adenocarcinoma, micropapillary predominant lung adenocarcinoma and mucious adenocarcinoma were 24, 14, 5, 5, 3, and 0, respectively. The rate of EGFR gene mutation of acinar predominant lung adenocarcinoma was higher than that of non-acinar predominant lung adenocarcinom, but there was not statistically significant (66.7% vs. 46.6%, P=0.057). The rate of EGFR gene mutation of solid predominant lung adenocarcinoma was lower than that of non-solid predominant lung adenocarcinom (26.3% vs. 61.3%, P=0.005). The rate of EGFR gene mutation of mucious adenocarcinoma was lower than that of non-mucious adenocarcinom (0 vs. 57.3%, P=0.018).
CONCLUSION
There is heterogeneity of EGFR mutation in lung adenocarcinoma. The presence of lung adenocarcinoma with acinar indicates a higher EGFR mutation rate, while the solid and mucinous component indicates a lower EGFR mutation rate.

China Tropical Medicine 2023;23(1):83-
Human-animal parasitic diseases caused by medical helminths are hazardous to human health. Genetic polymorphism studies on medical helminth populations can not only understand the biological characteristics and genetic structure of their populations, but also help reveal how they adapt to their parasitic environment, thus contributing to deepen our understanding of the epidemiological patterns of parasitic diseases and improve our understanding of accurate prevention and control of parasitic diseases. With the development of molecular biology, molecular markers such as DNA barcodes, simple sequence repeats, and single nucleotide polymorphism markers have been widely used to study the genetic relationships among parasite populations and individuals, and to reveal the genetic variation of parasite populations and the evolution of species origins. In this paper, we systematically review the application of three molecular markers commonly used in the study of genetic polymorphism in medical helminths, with a view to laying the foundation for related research.

National Journal of Andrology 2024;30(3):261-265
According to the theory of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM),benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH)belongs to the category of"Jing Long".Clinical management of BPH in TCM is root-aimed and kidney-targeted,in combination with the treatment of other viscera based on the syndrome differentiation of zang-fu organs. The neuro-endocrine-immune network of modern medicine is simi-lar to the holistic concept of TCM.Based on the study of the neuro-endocrine-immune network, with kidney deficiency as the root of pathogenesis, and starting from the classification of viscera, this review elucidates the etiologic mechanisms of BHP from the perspec-tive of Chinese and Western medicine and provides some reference for medication.
