Objective To explore the method of perioperative nursing of patients with metal implants operated by high frequency electrotome in the surgery. Methods A retrospective analysis of the effect and the method of perioperative nursing for 92 patients in Tangdu Hospital of the Fourth Military Medical University from April 2010 to August 2015 with metal implants operated by high frequency electrotome in the surgery was made to summarize nursing experience. Results Effective perioperative nursing and careful protection were made for the patients with metal implants operated by high frequency electrotome in the surgery. None of adverse events such as high frequency electrome burn and metal implant damage occurred in 92 patients. Conclusions For the patients with metal implants in the body, according to the premise of the principle of safe use, the relationship between the electrodes and the negative electrode, between the power and individual differences, between the incision location and metal implants should be handled correctly. Close protection is necessary. The operating instruction and the application method of the high frequency electrome should be grasped correctly. Only if these are carried out, can the advantages of highfrequency electromebe revealed during surgery and reduce the occurrence of adverse events.
