OBJECTIVETo examine the prognosis of preretinal hemorrhage following vitrectomy and silicone oil tamponade for severe proliferative diabetic retinopathy.
METHODSClinical data of 76 cases of proliferative diabetic retinopathy treated with vitrectomy and silicone oil infusion tamponade in Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital from October 2006 to September 2013 were retrospectively reviewed. Intraoperative bleeding, postoperative preretinal bleeding, blood reabsorption time, and preretinal fibrosis were assessed.
RESULTSAll preretinal hemorrhage developed within 1 week after surgery, blood was distributed in thin and scattered patterns (32 cases), thick and localized patterns (25 cases) or thick and scattered patterns (19 cases). The preretinal hemorrhage was ceased in 1 day after operation in 35 cases, in 2 days after operation in 18 cases, in two weeks after operation in 23 case. Recurrent hemorrhage occurred within 1 week after operation in 15 cases. Thin blood was largely reabsorbed in about two weeks, and thick blood was largely reabsorbed in about five weeks. Fibrosis tissue was resulted in 15 cases(34.1%) with thick blood.
CONCLUSIONMost of preretinal hemorrhage occurs within 1 week after surgery and is reabsorpted with 5 weeks in patients with proliferative diabetic retinopathy undergoing vitrectomy and silicone oil tamponade. The major complication of preretinal bleeding is the formation of preretinal fibrosis.

Chinese Medical Journal 2017;130(3):365-371
OBJECTIVEOvarian fibrosis is characterized by excessive proliferation of ovarian fibroblasts and deposition of extracellular matrix (ECM) and it is one of the principal reasons for ovarian dysfunction. This review aimed to investigate the pathogenetic mechanism of ovarian fibrosis and to clarify the relationship between ovarian diseases and fibrosis.
DATA SOURCESWe searched PubMed for English language articles published up to November 2016. The search terms included ovarian fibrosis OR fibrosis, ovarian chocolate cyst OR ovarian endometrioma, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), premature ovarian failure, ECM, matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), tissue inhibitors of matrix metalloproteinases (TIMPs), transforming growth factor-beta 1 (TGF-β1), connective tissue growth factor (CTGF), peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPAR-γ), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), endothelin-1 (ET-1), and combinations of these terms.
STUDY SELECTIONArticles were obtained and reviewed to analyze the pathogenic mechanism of ovarian fibrosis and related ovarian diseases.
RESULTSMany cytokines, such as MMPs, TIMPs, TGF-β1, CTGF, PPAR-γ, VEGF, and ET-1, are involved in ovarian fibrogenesis. Ovarian fibrogenesis is associated with various ovarian diseases, including ovarian chocolate cyst, PCOS, and premature ovarian failure. One finding of particular interest is that fibrogenesis in peripheral tissues around an ovarian chocolate cyst commonly causes ovarian function diminution, and therefore, this medical problem should arouse widespread concern in clinicians worldwide.
CONCLUSIONSPatients with ovarian fibrosis are susceptible to infertility and tend to have decreased responses to assisted fertility treatment. Thus, protection of ovarian function should be a priority for women who wish to reproduce when making therapeutic decisions about ovarian fibrosis-related diseases.

Progress in Biochemistry and Biophysics 2024;51(10):2621-2636
The clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR)/CRISPR-associated protein 9 (Cas9) is widely used for targeted genomic and epigenomic modifications, transcriptional regulation and real-time cell imaging, and has already demonstrated great potential for applications in agriculture, industry and medicine. The promise of the technology depends upon the five intrinsic properties of CRISPR/Cas: targeting, target unwinding, target cutting, target residence, and collateral cleavage. Here, mainly using Streptococcus pyogenes CRISPR/Cas9 as example, we will focus on the target residence of CRISPR/Cas in applications of the CRISPR/Cas technology, summarize the recent progress, and discuss the effect of CRISPR/Cas target binding and residence on DNA double strand break repair pathway choices and the opportunities that CRISPR/Cas target residence presents to optimize the CRISPR/Cas technology.

OBJECTIVE:
To compare accuracy of anterior cervical pedicle screws between assist of rapid prototyping 3D guide plate and free-hand insertion, and evaluate the safety of two methods.
METHODS:
Eight adult cervical cadaver specimens after formaldehyde immersion, including 4 males and 4 females, aged 32 to 65(40.3±5.6) years old. After X-ray examination to exclude bone damage and deformity, 4 of them (3D guide plate group) randomly selected were for CT scan to obtain DICOM format data, and the data was imported into Mimics software for model, designed the ideal entry point and nail path for anterior cervicaltranspedicular screw (ATPS). After obtaining the personalized guide plate of the nail channel, it was exported as STL data, and the individual guide plate was printed by rapid prototyping and 3D printing technology. In turn, with the assistance of 3D guide plates, one-to-one personalized ATPS screws were placed on the four lower cervical cadaver specimens. Another 4 (free-hand group) lower cervical cadaver specimens were implanted with ATPS screws using free-hand technique. All specimens were performed CT thin-layer scanning and three-dimensional reconstruction after operation. The Tomasino method was used to evaluate the safety of the screws on the CT cross-sectional and sagittal images, to determine whether there was a cortical puncture of the lower and inner edges of the pedicle. According to the CT rating results, gradeⅠandⅡwere safe, and grade Ⅲ- Ⅴ were dangerous. And the accuracy of screws was recorded and analyzed between two groups.
RESULTS:
Two screws were inserted in each segment from C

Chinese Journal of Hematology 2011;32(6):363-367
OBJECTIVETo investigate the effect of deferoxamine (DFO) and DFO in combination with arsenic trioxide (ATO) on inhibition of HL-60 cells xenograft tumor growth in nude mice and its mechanism.
METHODSXenograft tumor model of HL-60 cell line in nude mice was established by inoculating HL-60 cells subcutaneously into nude mice. The tumor-bearing mice were randomly divided into four groups: 50 mg/kg DFO group (group I), 3 mg/kg ATO group (group II), combination group (50 mg/kg DFO + 1.5 mg/kg ATO (group III) and normal saline control group. The drugs were administered intraperitoneally from the day of inoculation (once a day for 10 days). The inhibitory effects on the tumor growth were compared. NF-κBp65 expression levels of the tumors were detected by immunohistochemistry (24h after the last administration).
RESULTS(1) Tumors growth could be observed in all of the nude mice on day 7 to day 8 after inoculation, 0.5 - 1.0 cm in diameter, and then grew rapidly; (2) Tumor weight of control group, group I, group II and group III were (2.62 ± 0.54) g, (2.55 ± 0.82) g, (2.34 ± 0.79) g and (1.95 ± 0.39) g respectively, and the growth inhibition rates in group I, group II and group III were 2.67%, 10.69% and 25.57% respectively. Both DFO alone and in combination with ATO could inhibit the growth of transplanted tumors, and the combination group exhibited more effects, with no vital organ damages in the tumor-bearing mice. (3) There was significant difference in mean value of NF-κBp65 expression among the three experimental groups (P < 0.05), with a descending order of control group > group II, > group I > group III.
CONCLUSION(1) Both DFO and ATO have antitumor activities on tumor-bearing mice, and their combination has an obvious and significant effect. (2) DFO combined with ATO, is well tolerated with no significant adverse effects in the nude mice. (3) Both DFO and ATO can downregulate NF-κBp65 expression of transplanted tumors, especially for their combination.

Biomedical and Environmental Sciences 2014;27(5):391-395
The effect of sterilization methods on biological activity of fibronectin on the surface of biomaterials was elaborated in the present study. Sterile protein- modified biomaterials were fabricated by microfilter filtration and UV irradiation, respectively. UV irradiation altered the conformation of surface- adsorbed fibronectin and further affected the attachment, morphology and biological function of endothelial cells. However, microfilter filtration did not to change the normal conformation of fibronectin, or the proliferation and biological function of endothelial cells, indicating that microfilter filtration sterilization is the most suitable method for protein-substrate.
