BACKGROUND:
The role of inflammation in the development of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) has recently become a focus of research. The systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) and systemic inflammation response index (SIRI), novel indices, reflect the body's chronic immune-inflammatory state. This study aimed to investigate the associations between the SII or SIRI and GDM.
METHODS:
A prospective birth cohort study was conducted at Beijing Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital from February 2018 to December 2020, recruiting participants in their first trimester of pregnancy. Baseline SII and SIRI values were derived from routine clinical blood results, calculated as follows: SII = neutrophil (Neut) count × platelet (PLT) count/lymphocyte (Lymph) count, SIRI = Neut count × monocyte (Mono) count/Lymph count, with participants being grouped by quartiles of their SII or SIRI values. Participants were followed up for GDM with a 75-g, 2-h oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) at 24-28 weeks of gestation using the glucose thresholds of the International Association of Diabetes and Pregnancy Study Groups (IADPSG). Logistic regression was used to analyze the odds ratios (ORs) (95% confidence intervals [CIs]) for the the associations between SII, SIRI, and the risk of GDM.
RESULTS:
Among the 28,124 women included in the study, the average age was 31.8 ± 3.8 years, and 15.76% (4432/28,124) developed GDM. Higher SII and SIRI quartiles were correlated with increased GDM rates, with rates ranging from 12.26% (862/7031) in the lowest quartile to 20.10% (1413/7031) in the highest quartile for the SII ( Ptrend <0.001) and 11.92-19.31% for the SIRI ( Ptrend <0.001). The ORs (95% CIs) of the second, third, and fourth SII quartiles were 1.09 (0.98-1.21), 1.21 (1.09-1.34), and 1.39 (1.26-1.54), respectively. The SIRI findings paralleled the SII outcomes. For the second through fourth quartiles, the ORs (95% CIs) were 1.24 (1.12-1.38), 1.41 (1.27-1.57), and 1.64 (1.48-1.82), respectively. These associations were maintained in subgroup and sensitivity analyses.
CONCLUSION
The SII and SIRI are potential independent risk factors contributing to the onset of GDM.

Chinese Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology 2020;55(1):36-44
Objective:
To investigate the effects of cancer susceptibility candidate gene 19 (CASC19) regulating the expression of microRNA-449b-5p (miR-449b-5p) on the proliferation, apoptosis and radiation sensitivity of cervical cancer cells.
Methods:
(1) HeLa cells of cervical cancer cell line were cultured. HeLa cells were irradiated with X-ray at different doses (0, 2, 4, 6, 8 Gy, respectively), then the expression level of CASC19 mRNA and miR-449b-5p were detected by real-time quantitative PCR. (2) HeLa cell proliferation, apoptosis, radiation sensitivity (expressed as a survival fraction) and its related protein expression included cyclin D1, cleaved-caspase-3, and histone variant H2AX (γ-H2AX) were examined after different treatment including silencing CASC19 expression, over-expressing miR-449b-5p, down-regulating miR-449b-5p and silencing CASC19 expression. (3) The dual luciferase reporter gene experiment and real-time quantitative PCR technology were used to verify the targeting relationship between CASC19 and miR-449b-5p.
Results:
(1) With the increase of X-ray irradiation different dose (0, 2, 4, 6, 8 Gy), the expression level of CASC19 mRNA in HeLa cells gradually increased (

Chinese Journal of School Health 2020;41(6):889-892
Objective:
To explore determinants of childhood trauma among college students with left-behind experience, and to provide a reference for effective intervention among students with left-behind experience.
Methods:
A total of 2 468 students selected from 5 universities and 2 higher vocational colleges in tianjin by stratified cluster sampling method were investigated by self-compiled questionnaire and childhood trauma questionnaire.
Results:
The scores in emotional abuse, sexual abuse, emotional neglect, physical neglect and childhood trauma of students with left-behind experience were significantly higher than those without left-behind experience(t=3.01,3.13,3.24,2.27,3.60,P<0.05);parental separation times and the frequency of parental return had significant interaction effect on the total score of childhood trauma of students with left-behind experience (F=2.37, P<0.05);the gender had a significant major effect on the total score of childhood trauma of students with left-behind experience under the interaction with the place of origin, age at first separation, the cumulative time of leftbehind experiences and the frequency of parents contacting (F=4.49,5.23,5.93,5.11,P<0.05);the age of subjects when parents going out under the interaction with the place of origin, the gender, if only-child,parental separation times and the frequency of parental return;as well as the frequency of parents contacting under the interaction with the place of origin, the household registration, the gender, if only-child and the cumulative time of left-behind experiences also had significantly main effect(F=3.88,4.25,3.32,2.86,3.45;3.82,4.02,2.64,3.29,P<0.05).
Conclusion
It is necessary to attach great importance to demographic and context information regarding left-behind experiences, which lead to more specific and effective prevention and intervention strategy for individual with left-behind experiences.
