Chinese Journal of Geriatrics 2012;31(10):847-849
Objective To investigate the correlation between benign prostate hyperplasia(BPH) and atherosclerotie related indicators. Methods Totally 125 patients were divided into two groups based on prostate volume(PV):50 cases without BPH (PV≤30 ml) and 75 cases with BPH (PV>30 ml).Age,body mass index (BMI),triglycerides (TG),total cholesterol,low-density lipoprotein cholesterol,high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, glycosylated hemoglobin, prostate specific antigen (PSA),HOMA-IR,bilateral ankle brachial index (ABI) and cardio-ankle vascular index (CAVI) were measured and calculated. All these indicators were compared between two groups. The correlations of these indicators with PV were analyzed. Results BMI,TG,PSA,HOMA-IR and right-CAVI in BPH group were higher than in group without BPH (t=2.177,2.033,3.060,2.859,3.085,all P<0.05),and right ABI was lower in the BPH group than in group without BPH (t=2.557,P<0.05).The incidences of diabetes and coronary diseases in BPH group were increased compared with those without BPH (52% and 36% vs.30% and 10%,x2 =5.917,10.648,P =0.015,0.001,respectively).PV was positively correlated with BMI,TG,PSA,right CAVI,left CAVI(r=0.336,0.216,0.556,0.295,0.389,all P<0.05)by Pearson analysis. Conclusions BPH is closely correlated with insulin resistance and atherosclerosis.Atherosclerosis might cause prostate chronic ischemia and hypoxia, which may play a role in the pathogenesis of BPH.

Objective To explore the value of high frequency echocardiography to evaluate cardiac structure and function of rat with acute myocardial infarction (AMI).Methods The rat AMI model was established by ligating the proximal left anterior descending coronary artery. The cardiac structure and function of model rats were examined with high frequency echocardiography in the 2nd and 8th week after ligation successfully. Another 20 healthy rat were selected as the sham operative group. Results The survival rat is 82.0% beyond 24 hours. At 2nd week, the model animals had an increased end-diastolic diameter (EDD), end-systolic diameter (ESD), end-diastolic volume (EDV), and further end-systolic volume (ESD), compared with the sham operative group. Ejection fraction (EF) and fraction shortening (FS) of model rats decreased. The ratio of E/A was higher. At 8th week, these parameters deteriorated left atrial diameter (LA) increased ( P<0.05). EF and FS were relevant to dp/dtmax.Conclusion High frequency echocardiography can evaluate left ventricle remodeling of rat dynamically.

Objective To evaluate the effect of ilaprazole enteric tablets on intragastric pH in duodenal ulcer patients. Methods A randomized, double blind, positive controlled clinical trial was carried out. A total of forty-two patients with duodenal ulcer were randomized into low dose ilaprazole group (5 mg/d), medium dose ilaprazole group (10 mg/d), high dose ilaprazole group(20 mg/d) and omeprazole group(20 mg/d). An ambulatory 24 hour intragastric pH study was performed at the fifth treatment day. Fraction time pH above 3, 4 or 5, median values of 24 hour diurnal pH and 12 hour nocturnal pH, the percentage of patients with total time pH above 3, 4 or 5 at least for 18 hours were evaluated. Results There were no significant differences of fraction time pH above 3 or 4, median values of 24 hour diurnal pH and 12 hour nocturnal pH and the percentage of patients with total time pH above 3, 4 or 5 at least for 18 hours among all the groups with different doses of ilaprazole and the omeprazole group. The fraction time pH above 5 in medium and high dose ilaprazole groups were (87.96 ± 12. 29)% and (89.86±15. 18)% respectively, which was higher than that in low dose ilaprazole group [(67. 17± 30. 16)%] and omeprazole group[(76. 14 ± 16. 75)%], P <0. 05. Conclusion Ilaprazole has a strong effect on intragastric acid control with a dose dependent trend.

Objective To investigate the etfect of microenvironment simulated by colon carcinoma homogenate supernatant on the differentiation and development of human dendritic ceils (DCs), and to investigate the function of vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A) during this process . Methods Fresh colon carcinoma and peri-cancer tissues were collected to prepare homogenate supernatant. The pe-ripberal blood mononuclear cells were isolated and cultured with 1640 medium including rhGM-CSF and rhIL-4. Then the colon carcinoma homogenate supernatant, peri--carcinoma homogenate supernatant and VEGF-A were added to the cultures at day 2. Antigen of colon carcinoma cell line SW620 was added at day 4 and lipopolysaccharide (LPS) was added at day 6. DCs were collected at day 8 for further study. The con-tent of VEGF-A was tested by ELISA. The morphology and the immunopbenotype of DCs were checked by microscope and flow cytometry, respectively. The expression of CDIa was tested by RT-PCR, and the prolif-eration and killing rate of T cell was measured by CCK-8. Results The content of VEGF-A in the homoge-nate supernatant of colon carcinoma was significantly higher than that of the peri-carcinoma (P < 0. 05). Compared with normal DCs, the cell morphology of colon carcinoma homogenate aupernatant group was in-hibited, and the cell number was decreased. Besides, the positive expression rate of DC surface markers de-creased (P < 0.01). The capacity of mixed lymphocyte reaction (MLR) and killing capacity of T cells de-creased(P <0.01). However, there was almost no difference between VEGF-A group and normal DCs on the cell morphology and cell number, and VEGF-A had no obvious inhibition on the expression of DCs sur-face markers (P > 0.05). But VEGF-A group had significantly inhibitory effect on the MLR and T cells kill-ing. Conclusion The tumor microenvironment simulated by the colon carcinoma homogenate supernatant obviously has inhibitory effect on the differentiation and function of DCs, and VEGF-A has the inhibitory effect on DC function, but the inhibitory effect is not through the inhibition of the expression of DC costimu-lators.

When having completed the treatments of acute disease ,the hospitalized elderly patients are often not able to return home immediately due to poor physical and mental conditions. They need a period of integrated medical care for recovering independent living ability. Intermediate care provides appropriate treatment and intensive rehabilitation for elderly patients in a relatively short period after acute diseases to restore optimal health ,reduce readmission ,and return self-care ability as far as possible. Intermediate care can fill the gap between acute-term treatment and long-term care. This review is about the development of intermediate care ,the mode and the research of intermediate care in different countries ,equipment configuration and human resource allocation ,and the outlook for intermediate care.

Objective To develop a digital signal processing method for magnetic positioning of electronic capsules according to the theory of multiple alternating magnetic field source electromagnetic positioning, so as to reduce the volume and power consumption of electronic capsules. Method Based on STM32 MCU, software algorithms such as fast digital filtering, peak detection and frequency detection were designed to replace the corresponding analog hardware circuits such as analog filtering, peak detection and comparison circuits. Results The experimental results showed that the average relative error of the peak detection and frequency detection of the digital signal processing system were 1.51% and 0.28% , respectively. The linear relationships of theoretical amplification factor and actual amplification factor of the programmable amplifier were basically consistent, and the average ratio difference was 4.51 dB. Conclusions The proposed digital signal processing system can replace some analog hardware circuits, providing a basis for reducing the size and power consumption of electronic capsules.
