Objective To identify the nursing interventions and activities for hemiplegic patients in various functions suffered from stroke, and guide clinical practice. Methods Review rehabilitation of evidence-based clinical practice and literature of hemiplegic patients, stroke patients in different functional states were continuously cared and recorded by a researcher.Nursing program was identified according to patients' functions and the sixth edition of Nursing Interventions Classification,8 experts were consulted by a questionnaire survey, which was based on the initial screened nursing interventions and activities,30 nurses and 41 experts were consulted then. Results The established nursing program included 20 interventions and 307 activities.80%-100% nurses' opinions culminated in consensus on the selected interventions. The selected activities scored 4.00-5.00 in average, with the coefficient of variations ranging from 0.00 to 0.25.Conclusions The established nursing program is convenient to communication and could be a tool to guide the clinical nursing practice.

Heuristic teaching is propitious to cultivating students' ideation. We have used different heuristic modes for example problems, stories, contrast, associationin and so on to cultivate medical students' ideation in pathobiology and immunology teaching and acquired good effect.

This paper discusses the relationship between stimulating pulse width and the threshold of electrically evoked compound action potential (ECAP). Firstly, the rheobase and chronaxy from strength-duration curve of nerve fiber was computed using the shepherd's experiment results. Secondly, based on the relationship between ECAP and the action potential of nerve fiber, a mathematical expression to describe the relationship between stimulating pulse width and ECAP threshold was proposed. Thirdly, the parameters were obtained and the feasibility was proved to the expression with the results of experiment using guinea pigs. Research result showed that with ECAP compared to the action potential of nerve fiber, their threshold function relationship with stimulating pulse width was similar, and rheobase from the former was an order smaller in the magnitude than the latter, but the chronaxy was close to each other. These findings may provide meaningful guidance to clinical ECAP measurement and studying speech processing strategies of cochlear implant.

BACKGROUND: Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) of the lower limbs is one of the severe complications of total hip replacement (THR)during the perioperative period. The incidence rate was high. The effect of primary disease on the DVT after THR in the elderly remains poorly understood.OBJECTIVE: To explore the effect of primary disease on DVT after THR in the elderly.METHODS: 147 cases with unilateral THR aged 64-93 years, were included and divided into two groups. Fracture group contained 68 cases, which of them were all traumatic femoral neck fracture ones. Osteopathia group contained 79 cases, and they had no traumatic injury. We selected total hip prostheses according to their physiological age, preoperative socialization ability, substantia ossea and life expectancy. Biological prosthesis in 5 cases and mixed prosthesis in 12 cases were used, while the others used bone cement prosthesis. If the patient had pain and/or swelling on the injured limb, with or without Homans/Neuhofs sign, we did the pressurized ultrasonic Doppler to examine whether the patient had got DVT.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: In the fracture group, 32 cases had swelling in the injured limbs, and 20 cases with pain, 15 cases with Homans/Neuhofs sign, and 29 DVT cases were confirmed by the pressurized ultrasonic Doppler. One femoral neck fracture case of THR had no DVT clinical signs and was dead 17 days later. The autopsy found that it was an mixed type combined of pulmonary embolism; Osteopathia group: 20 cases had swelling in the injured limbs, and 11 cases of pain, 9 cases of Homans/Neuhofs sign, 20 DVT cases were confirmed by the pressurized ultrasonic Doppler. The blood coagulation state was greater, and the incidence rate of DVT in the lower limbs was greater in the fracture group compared with osteopathia group (P < 0.05). These indicated that femoral neck fracture is a high risk factor for DVT development in lower limb affer THR in the elderly.

Objective To study the association of TCF7L2 gene rs11196218,rs290487 polymorphisms with metabolic syndrome in type 2 diabetes mellitus population. Methods According to the diagnostic criteria of international diabetes federation (IDF),680 cases of type 2 diabetes patients were divided into metabolic syndrome (MS) group and non metabolic syndrome (control) group.DNA was extracted from peripheral mononuclear cells, and then PCR was performed to specifically amplify TCF7L2 gene fragments.Gene polymorphisms were determined by connected enzyme detection reaction. After population representative was checked by Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium, statistical analysis was completed by software SPSS 13.0.Results The population was accorded with Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium and possessed the population representative.Frequency distributions of genotypes (GG,AG and AA) in TCF7L2 gene rs11196218 in MS and control groups were 55.6%(233/419),35.8%(150/419),8.6% (36/419) and 54.8% (126/230),39.1% (90/230),6.1% (14/230),respectively.Frequency distributions of alleles(G and A) in TCF7L2 gene rs11196218 in MS and control groups were 73.5%(616/838),26.5%(222/838)and 74.3%(342/460),25.7%(118/460),respectively.Frequency distributions of genotypes (GG,AG and AA) in TCF7L2 gene rs290487 in MS and control groups were 14.8%(62/418),42.3%(177/418),42.9%(179/418) and 15.0%(34/226),48.2%(109/226),36.8%(83/226),respectively.Frequency distributions of alleles(G and A) in TCF7L2 gene rs11196218 in MS and control groups were 36.0% (301/836),64.0% (535/836) and 39.1% (177/452),60.9% (275/452),respectively.Frequency distribution of allele and genotype in TCF7L2 genes rsl 1196218 and rs290487 between the two groups were not associated with metabolic syndrome in type 2 diabetes population (P > 0.05).Conclusions TCF7L2 gene rs11196218,rs290487 polymorphisms has not association with metabolic syndrome of type 2 diabetes.

Chinese Acupuncture & Moxibustion 2006;26(6):392-394
OBJECTIVETo explore an ideal program for acupuncture treatment of Tourette's syndrome (TS).
METHODSOne hundred and two cases of TS were randomly divided into a treatment group of 68 cases and a control group of 34 cases. The treatment group were treated with acupuncture at Taichong (LR 3) and Hegu (LI 4) as main, and the control group with oral administration of heloperidol. Their therapeutic effects were compared, and changes of somatosensory evoked potentials (SEP) before and after treatment were investigated in the treatment group.
RESULTSAfter treatment for 3 courses, 56 cases were cured, 10 improved and 2 ineffective with an effective rate of 97.1% in the treatment group; and 15 cases were cured, 11 improved and 8 ineffective with an effective rate of 76.5% in the control group, with a very significant difference in the effective rate between the two groups (P < 0.001); after treatment, the abnormal rate of SEP decreased by 41.1% in the treatment group (P < 0.001).
CONCLUSIONAcupuncture is a very effective therapy for TS and has a certain restoring action on mild abnormal change of SEP.

This article was aimed to explore the method of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) health maintenance knowledge base building. TCM health maintenance knowledge classification method was studied under the guidance of TCM health maintenance classification system to construct a special literature database to store TCM health maintenance knowledge. Based on TCM literature resources, TCM health maintenance knowledge service platform was designed and developed for the static display and dynamic query support of TCM health maintenance knowledge. The content of knowledge base will be accessed to the whole society. The results showed that the construction method can be a system arrangement and modern interpretation of TCM health maintenance knowledge, in order to support TCM health maintenance knowledge base and its update and service system. It was concluded that under the guidance of TCM theories, the construction of TCM health maintenance knowledge base will realize the health maintenance knowledge-sharing and service requirement of TCM.
