Objective To assess the hearing, language and intelligence in prelingually deafened children with multichannel cochlear implant ,and to analysie the basic pattern of speech recognition and language development. Methods 42 prelingually deafened children with cochlear implant participated in this study. The “Evaluating method on hearing and language rehabilitation in deafened children” was used as test material. Results The average hearing of these deafened children with cochlear implant was 35 dB HL.The correct recognition rate and language ability were escalating with prolonging the implanted time. Subjects showing significant progress half year after operation indicated that the cochlear implant could promote prelingually deafened children to develop their hearing and language level. Conclusion With scientific and systemic rehabilitation training, prelingually deaf children, who have ordinary intelligence, will have significant progress half year after the operation.

This paper reports 23 cases of the large vestibular aqueduct syndrome. All cases are sensori-neural hearing loss,23.91% is moderately severe hearing loss,54.35% is severe hearing loss, and 21.74% is profound hearing loss. The contour of audiogram in high frequency dctcrioration is 74%,che flat contour of audiogram is 13%,the islanded contour audiogram is 13%.Some cases are progressive hearing loss, and the others are sudden hearing loss, two cases among whole cases were found vestibular dysfunction after examination. After high resolution CT scan in inner ear,27 ears were found pathological changes only in vestibular aqueduct enlargement,in addition to these changes,12 ears were found malformation of vestibule and semicircular canals, and 7 ears were showed cochlea malformation. It is said that the disease is caused by abnormal development on endolymphatic duct in early embryonic stage, and the principal inducement is infectious factor. There is not an effective treatment, but the better results can be reached in deaf children with residual hearing, after they wearing hearing aids and getting the auditory-verbal training in the early period of time.If the hearing aid can not reach effective hearing compensation for these patients, cochlea implantation is considered and suggested.

Herpes simplex virus (HSV) is a double-stranded DNA virus that can infect skin and mucosal epithelial cells. It can establish latency in sensory neurons and sporadically reactivate from these cells. In order to reply to attacks of the host and evade the immunity surveillance during infection and reactivation, HSV has developed a multitude of clever strategies. Dendritic cells (DCs), one of the most important antigen-presenting cells (APC), can recognize pathogens at the infection sites and activate specific T cells, thus playing a crucial role in the host immunity against virus infection. This paper reviewed the mechanism of the host immunity against HSV, especially the role of DCs in HSV-induced immune responses and the future research perspective.

ObjectiveTo analyze the relative influential factors of hearing rehabilitation of the deafened children with multichannel cochlear implant. Methods42 prelingually deafened children who accepted multichannel cochlear implant were evaluated with their hearing ability, hearing thresholds and talent level, while their family and usage of the multichannel cochlear were investigated. Results and ConclusionThe result shows that the factors influencing the hearing rehabilitation are the occupations of the parents, income of the family, the time between diagnosing deaf and the operation, the time after the cochlear implant operation and the talent level. The results of the logistic regression show that the deafened children can gain their hearing developing rapidly if they living in a family with high income, their mothers have accepted more education, and they accepted longer time of continuing hearing-aid, etc.

Objective To determine the effect of age, body figure and risk framing in making treatment decision for female patients with breast cancer. Methods Two groups of healthy female:one group of 60 female ages 18-24 from undergraduate student and the other group of 60 female ages 35-60 from the university community.Healthy women imagined that they had been diagnosed with breast cancer and received information regarding lumpectomy versus mastectomy and recurrence rates.Participants indicated whether they would choose lumpectomy or mastectomy and reasons. Results The different concern levels of body appearance between younger and older women influences treatment selection of lumpectomy versus mastectomy.Facing the risk information, older women were unlikely to select the breast conserving operation. Conclusions The factors of age and the attention to body figure would effect the choice of breast conserving operation or mastectomy.Risk information on the selection of treatment would not affected directly, but the effects of risk information on younger and older female is different.Nurses should provide the age-appropriate information who recently have been diagnosed with breast cancer regarding treatment alternatives to ensure their active participation in the decision-making process, female who have different levels of investment in body figure also may have different concerns about treatment, and should be alert on empathetic of such concerns.

Objective To investigate the applications of antibacterial agents to outpatients in primary hos -pitals in Hefei City of Anhui Province, and to provide reference for rational use of antibacterial agents. Methods In 2011, fourty-five primary hospitals in Hefei City were selected randomly ,including urban community health service centers (Group A) and township hospitals(Group B),and thirty or fourty outpatient prescriptions were analyzed monthly . Results In Group A, the percentage and intensity of antimicrobial usage , the proportion of the combination and injectable formulation were ( 45.36 ±20.02 )%, ( 89.73 ±25.50 ) DDDs · ( 100 cases ) -1 · d-1 , 13.34%, 23.16%,respectively,and the data in Group B were (61.36 ±17.18)%,(108.46 ±32.27)DDDs· (100 cases) -1 · d-1,29.13%,46.39%,respectively,which the former were significantly lower than the latter. Conclusion In primary hospitals, the applications of antibacterial agents to outpatiants are not rataional ,including high percentages of usage and unreasonable selection of species ,and more supervision and training need to be given to the medical staff , especially in township hospitals .

A promising alternative to supply bone substitutes is to develop living tissue substitutes based on biodegradable materials, which is called bone tissue engineering. One of the research high-lights of bone tissue engineering is to design and manufacture scaffolds for cell attaching, migrating, and proliferating. A process which consists of a solvent casting stage, a compression molding stage and a leaching stage has been used to fabricate macroporous composites of poly(l-lactic acid)(PLLA) and β-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP). The effects of the weight fraction of porogen-NaCl, of the weight ratio of PLLA to β-TCP and of the diameters of β-TCP on the porosities, the average pore diameters and the compressive yield strength and compressive modulus have been studied. The results showed that the porosities and the average pore diameters increased and the compressive yield strength and modulus decreased when the weight fraction went from 50% to 90%. The compressive yield strength and compressive modulus could be improved by changing the weight ratio of PLLA to β-TCP and the diameters of β-TCP in low-porosity composites (lower than 70%). But high-porosity composites (90%) were not reinforced by changing the weight ratio.
