UNLABELLEDOBJECTIVE To investigate the effect of Nepsilon-(carboxymethyl) lysine albumin (CMLs), a primary advanced glycation end products (AGEPs) isoform in diabetic body, on the function and angiogenesis of adipose tissue-derived stem cells (ADSCs) and the protective effect of Danhong Injection (DH). METHODS Human ADSCs were cultured and separated from human subcutaneous fatty tissue using enzymatic digestion and centrifugation. The morphology was observed using optical microscope and differentiation capacities assessed. Cells were exposed to 5 different interventions respectively for 24 h, i.e., PBS, 60 1 microg/mL BSA, 60 microg/mL CML-BSA, 100 microL/mL DH, and 60 micro./mL CML-BSA +100 microL/mL DH. Their effect on the proliferation, migration, apoptosis, and secretion were observed using WST-1 assay, Transwell assay, Annexin V-FITC/PI flow meter test reagent kit, human VEGF reagent kit, ELISA reagent kit, respectively. The effect on ADSCs angiogenesis was observed by in vitro angiogenesis test.
RESULTSCompared with the BSA group, the capacities of proliferation and migration could be significantly inhibited by CML-BSA, the apoptosis promoted, the secretion of VEGF reduced, and the angiogenesis of ADSCs weakened (P < 0.05). Compared with the blank control group, 100 microL/mL DH could significantly promote the proliferation and migration capacities of ADSCs, inhibit apoptosis of ADSCs, increase the secretion of VEGF, and improve the angiogenesis of ADSCs (P < 0.05). Compared with the CML-BSA group, the inhibition of CML-BSA on the proliferation and migration capacities of ADSCs could be significantly reversed, the promotion of CML-BSA on the apoptosis of ADSCs improved, the secretion of VEGF increased, and the angiogenesis of ADSCs elevated (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONclusion CMLs could significantly inhibit the proliferation and migration capacities of ADSCs, promote their apoptosis, and inhibit their angiogeneses, which could be improved by DH.

Objective To evaluate the effects of Guhong Injection on motor dysfunction in rats after cerebral ischemia- reperfusion. Methods The middle cerebral arteries were occluded for 2 hours and re-perfused in Sprague-Dawley rats. They were divided in sham group, model group, Aceglutamide group, Safflowere group and Guhong group, which were intravenously administrated with normal saline, Aceglutamide, Safflower or Guhong 24 hours after operation, and continued for 14 days. They were tested with the beam-walking test after treatment. Tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) immunohistochemical staining was used to investigate the viability of neurons in the substantia nigra. Results The model group spent more time in the beam-walking test than that in the sham group (P<0.01), and it decreased in the Safflower group and Guhong group compared with that in the model group (P<0.05). The TH-positive neurons decreased in the model rat compared with that in the sham group (P<0.001), and increased in both Safflower and Guhong groups compared with that in the model group (P<0.01). Conclusion Guhong administration could significantly improve the motor dysfunction in rats after cerebral ischemia- reperfusion, which might be related to provent the neurons from injury in the substantia nigra.

West China Journal of Stomatology 2007;25(2):149-152
OBJECTIVETo investigate root canal curvatures of human maxillary first premolars in buccolingual directions.
METHODSOne hundred extracted permanent maxillary first premolars were used. After access preparation, a K-file was inserted into the canals and gently advanced until it reached the apical foramen. Then standardized periapical radiovisiography (RVG) images were taken from mesiodistal direction. The angle of curvature was determined according to the method described by Schneider. The radiu of curvature and length of the curved part of the root canal were calculated.
RESULTS1) The total 50.00% (88/176) of root canal curves were in buccolingual directions, and 53 curves were showed in apical 1/3 of root region. 11.93% (21/176) of S-shaped canals were detected, and the first curves were mostly showed in middle 1/3 of root region, the secondary curves were totally showed in apical 1/3 of root region. 2) There was no difference of curvatures between buccal and lingual root canals, but the secondary curves of S-shaped canals were more complicated than other root canals. 3) There was no correlation between the angle of curvature and the radius of curvature (r=0.002, P>0.05), but significantly correlation between the angle of curvature and length of the curved part of the root canal (r=0.489, P<0.01).
CONCLUSIONThe occurrence of curved root canals in buccolingual directions may be high in human maxillary first premolars, and the curvatures of S-shaped canals were more complicated than others.

West China Journal of Stomatology 2007;25(2):125-128
OBJECTIVETo estimate the diagnostic potential of the dental operating microscope used for locating the second mesiobuccal canal (MB2) orifice in maxillary first molars.
METHODS120 extracted maxillary first molars were used, all the access cavities were prepared and fixed on the dental study model. MB2 orifices were examined with naked eye and under a dental operating microscope (DOM). The examination was repeated by another dentist with the same methods. Then Indian ink was injected into the pulp chamber and all the teeth were treated to be transparent to determine if it had a real MB2.
RESULTSThe sensitivity and accuracy of the DOM group were 0.78 and 0.76, higher than 0.61 and 0.65 of the naked eye group (P<0.05). The correspondency of Kappa index between observers by naked eye and DOM was 0.701 and 0.819, respectively.
CONCLUSIONThe use of DOM can increase the detection rate of MB2.

Chinese Journal of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2010;45(4):282-286
OBJECTIVETo explore the relationship between the sub-typing of full-frequency sudden deafness and its effect in treatment.
METHODSA series of 87 cases that have full-frequency sudden deafness were studied from Aug, 2005 to Mar, 2008. All cases were treated with methylprednisolone, Batroxobin and Xueshuantong.
RESULTSBased on the frequency of hearing loss, the objectives were divided into sudden-drop-down type and slow-drop-down type. The effective percentage and significant effective percentage in sudden-drop-down type were 84.4% (27/32) and 68.8% (22/32), respectively. The effective percentage and significant effective percentage in slow-drop-down type were 52.7% (29/55) and 32.7% (18/55), respectively. Slow-drop-down type showed a higher effective and significant effective percentage respectively (P < 0.01). According to the degree of hearing loss, objectives were divided into flat-type and profound-type. The effective percentage and significant effective percentage in flat-type were 73.3 % (44/60) and 53.3 % (32/60) respectively. The effective percentage and significant effective percentage in flat-type were 44.4% (12/27) and 29.6% (8/27) respectively. The flat-type showed a higher effective (P < 0.01) and significant effective percentage (P < 0.05) for treatment.
CONCLUSIONSThe sudden deafness needs a further classification. According to the frequency of hearing loss, it can be divided into sudden-drop-down and slow-drop-down type. According to the degree of hearing loss, it can be divided into flat-type and profound-type. It would be appropriate to using 90 dB(average hearing threshold) as a criteria for the classification of hearing loss.
