Four alkaloids were isolated from Huperzia serrata (Thunb. ) Trev., The structures of these alkaloids were identified as des-N-methyl-?-obscurine (Ⅰ),lycopodine (Ⅱ),lycodoline (Ⅲ),and 6-?-hydroxy-lycopodine (Ⅳ) by means of spectral analysis (UV, IR, NMR, MS ). Compounds Ⅰ and Ⅳ were isolated for the first time in the species.

OBJECTIVETo explore the correlation between electronic bronchus mirror and Chinese medical syndrome typing of Mycoplasma pneumonia children.

METHODSTotally 198 Mycoplasma pneumonia children inpatients were assigned to three syndrome types according to Chinese medical syndrome typing and self-formulated typing standards of electronic bronchus mirror, i.e., Fei-qi accumulation of damp and heat syndrome, Fei-qi accumulation of toxicity and heat syndrome, deficient vital qi leading to lingering of pathogen syndrome. The correlation between electronic bronchus mirror and Chinese medical syndrome typing was explored.

RESULTSAs for comparison between electronic bronchus mirror and Chinese medical syndrome typing, Kappa value (K^) was 0.645 and Spearman coefficient correlation (r) was 0.653 (P < 0.01) for Fei-qi accumulation of damp and heat syndrome; K^ was 0.724 and r(s) was 0.727 (P < 0.01) for Fei-qi accumulation of toxicity and heat syndrome; K^ was 0.506 and r(s) was 0.515 (P < 0.01) for deficient vital qi leading to lingering of pathogen syndrome.

CONCLUSIONChinese medical syndrome typing of Mycoplasma pneumonia children was moderately in line with inspection typing under electronic bronchoscope with significant correlation.

Objective: To study the alkaloid constituents of Huperzia serrata (Thunb.) Trev.. Methods: Various chromatographies were used for separation and purification of the alkaloids and spectroscopic analysis was used for determination of the chemical structure. Results: An alkaloid constituent(alkaloid A) was isolated from H. serrata . Conclusion: Alkaloid A was a new compound, named huperzinine B.

Background Cataract phacoemulsification combined with intraocular lens (IOL) implantation is a primary treatment for cataract.However,tear film stability and ocular surface structure are affected after surgery,especially some cataract patients with diabetes.Researches determined that tear film dysfunction is an important causative factor of dry eye.Objective This study was to investigate the change of tear film after phacoemulsification in cataract patient with diabetes.Methods A non-randomized cases-controlled study was designed.Thirty-six cataract patients with diabetes (54 eyes)and matched 32 patients (40 eyes)with age-related cataract were included in this study in Tianjin First Center Hospital from October,2010 to May,2011.Phacoemulsification and IOL implantation was performed on the all patients with the same topical eyedrops in both groups.Dry eye-related symptom was surveyed and scored by questionnaire,and tear film break-up time (BUT),Schirmer Ⅰ test(S Ⅰ t)and corneal fluorescein(FL) were examined 3 days before operation and 1 day,1 week,1month,3 months after operation.Written informed consent was obtained from each patient before entering this trial.Results The percentage with preoperative symptoms of dry eye was 36.2％ and postoperative dry eye symptoms accounted for 75.8％.Significant differences were seen in dry eye symptom score,FL score,BUT value and S Ⅰ t value between the diabetic cataract group and only cataract group as well as among 4 time points(dry eye symptom score:Fgroup =139.347,P =0.000 ; Ftime =342.741,P =0.000 ; FL score: Fgroup =14.073,P =0.000 ; Ftime =332.697,P =0.000 ; BUT value: Fgroup =28.198,P =0.000 ; Ftime =868.364,P =0.000 ; S Ⅰ t value: Fgroup =2.848,P =0.095 ; Ftime =564.017,P=0.000).FL scores of 2 groups were significantly higher in postoperation than those in preoperation (P＜0.05),and those of diabetic cataract group were significantly higher than only cataract group(P＜0.05),but no significant difference was found between postoperation 3 months and preoperation (P＞0.05).BUT was shorter in postoperation than that in preoperation in the diabetic cataract group(P＜0.05).S Ⅰ t values in postoperative 1 day and 1 week were significantly lower than in preoperation in both groups(P＜0.05).However,S Ⅰ t values returned to normal from 1 month through 3 months in both groups(P＞0.05).Conclusions Tear film dysfunction occurs after operationin cataract patient with type 2 diabetes.It is thought that cataract patient with diabetes is susceptible population of dry eye.Dry eye appears more early and severer in diabetes patients after phacoemulsification combined with IOL implantation.

Objective To evaluate the value of Multi-slice spiral CT angiography for spinal cord vessels.Methods 11 adult subjects with suspected of myelopathy were performed with Multi-slice spiral CT angiography,An iodine contrast agent was injected at 3.5 ml/s,for total 100 ml.The parameters were axial 16 slice mode,0.625 mm slice thickness,0.8 s rotation,delay time depending on smartprep (15—25 s), multi-phase scan.The coronal and sagittal MPR and SSD were generated on a workstation compared with spinal digital subtraction angiography (DSA) to analyze normal or abnormal spinal cord vessels.Results Normal findings at spinal CTA and digital subtraction angiography in six adult normal subjects and spinal cord vascular malformations( 1 intradural extramedullary AVF,4 dural AVFs) in five cases,Recognizable intradural vessels corresponding to anterior median (midline) veins and/or anterior spinal arteries were show in six adult normal subjects.Abnormal intradural vessels were detected in all five spinal cord vascular malformation with CT angiography ,in comparison with digital subtraction angiography these vessels were primarily enlarged veins of the coronal venous plexus on the cord surface,radiculomedullary-dural arteries could not be clearly shown in four dural AVF,only one anterior spinal artery was detected in one patient with intradural medullary AVF,which direct shunt between anterior spinal artery and perimedullary vein with tortuous draining vessel.Conclusion Multi-slice CT angiography is able to visualize the normal or abnormal spinal cord vessels.It could be used as a noninvasive method to screen the spinal cord vascular disease.

BackgroundGlaucoma associates with apoptosis of retinal ganglion cells ( RGCs).Research showed that ciliary neurotrophic factor (CNTF) can repair optic nerve trauma,but it has not reported whether CNTF has a protective effect on glaucomatous optic neuropathy.ObjectiveThis experimental study was to explore the protective effect of CNTF on RGCs in rat eyes with acute ocular hypertension.MethodsOcular acute hypertension models were induced in bilateral eyes of 24 clean Wistar rats by forced perfusion of a balanced salt solution into the anterior chamber.Two days before molding,0.5 μg recombinant human CNTF (5 μl) was injected intravitreously in the left eyes,and 5 mmol/L sodium phosphate solution (5 μl) was injected in the same way as the control group.Three other Wistar rats were used as the normal control group.The animals were sacrificed by excessive anesthesia and the retinal sections were prepared 1,3,7,14 days after molding.The morphology of the retina was examined and RGCs counting was performed by hematoxylin & eosin staining and observed under a light microscope.The expression of glutamic acid in RGCs was assessed by immunochemistry.ResultsRegular retinal structure with clearly defined cell layers were observed in normal control rats.Changes in vacuoles in RGCs were seen in the model control group.The number of degenerative RGCs decreased in the CNTF group.Compared with the model control group,number of normal RGCs increased from 1 day to 14 days after molding with a significant difference between the two groups (all P=0.000).Immunochemistry assay showed that the numbers of positive cells for glutamic acid were 5.50±1.04 and 6.00±1.41 for the average of 3 fields at 3 days or 7 days in the CNTF group,and those in the model control group were 9.00±2.91 and 10.83 ± 1.94,respectively,showing significant differences between them ( all P =0.000 ).However,no comparable differences were found in the numbers of positive cells for glutamic acid at 1 day and 14 days between the two groups( P=0.578,0.180).ConclusionsCNTF down-regulates the expression of glutamic acid in RGCs and offers neuroprotection for RGCs in an acute glaucoma rat model.

BACKGROUND: The strength and elasticity of general starch can be enhanced dramatically after plastic blends. The major characters of this material are magnitude molecular weight, many enwinded points, extreme containment of small molecules,and great gelation ability. It can be used as a biodegradable replacement of alginate. Furthermore, by adding osteoinductive factors, thermoplastics starch (TP) can be used as an organic engineering material, which can provide dual functions:anti-bleeding and bone formation. TP can also be used as intraoral tissue formation membrane and burn dressings.OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the bio-safety of TP through a cytotoxicity test.DESIGN: A controlled observation.SETTING: Beijing Research Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedics; Beijing Jishuitan Hospital; Beijing University of Chemical Technology; Peking Univesity School of Stomatology.MATERIALS: The experiment was conducted at the laboratory of Beijing Research Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedics from April to October in 2006. TP sample was obtained by plasticization of corn starch (12 wt % water content) with glycerol in a Haake Rhenmix at 110℃ and with 80 rounds per minute for 25 minutes, elongation at break from 115.3% to 245.3%. It was prepared by Beijing Key Laboratory for Preparation and Processing of Novel Polymeric Materials, Beijing University of Chemical Technology. Mouse fibroblast L-929 cell strain was provided by the cell bank of Peking University Health Science Center.METHODS: 1 × 107 L-1 cell aqueous suspension was cultured into leaching liquor ( 50% ), serving for TP group, and routine culture medium served for negative control group. Effect of TP on relative growth rate of L-929 cell strain was quantitatively measured by MTI" assay. The cytotoxicity of TP was evaluated according to GB/T16175-1996. Morphological changes and proliferation of cells were observed after2, 4, and 7 days of culture in the medium through an inverted phase contrast microscope.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Cytotoxicity, morphological changes and proliferation of cells, and cell relative growth rate.RESULTS: Cytotoxicity: After 2 and 4 days of incubation, the absorbance (A) value was lower in the TP group than in the negative control group. After 7 days of incubation, the A value was significantly higher compared to negative control group (P＜0.01). It indicated that after 2 and 4 days of incubation, the cytotoxicity in the TP group was larger than in the negative control group, while after 7 days of incubation, it was on the opposite. All the test time, TP's cytotoxicity grade ranged from 0 to 1. Morphological change and proliferation of cells: After 2 days of incubation, both groups of cells were not extended to the outside of the scope, with a majority shape of being round, triangle, and quadrangle in the TP group or fusiform cells in the negative control respectively. Four days later, there were gaps among cells in the TP group, while in the negative control group, there were hardly any distance between cells and some cells piled up. Seven days later, cells in starch medium suddenly grew up to such a degree that all the cells lapped over and presented with more bloom than the negative control. Cell relative growth rate: After 2, 4, and 7 days of incubation, relative growth rate increased with time, being 85.63%,82.22%, and 113.05%, respectively.CONCLUSION: TP has no evidence of cytotoxicity and has good bio-safety.

Orally disintegrating tablets (ODT), a kind of new solid tablet that rapidly disintegrates to work in the mouth, has became the hot form of new drug research in recent years with many advantages, such as the convenient taking, a widely applicable people, fast acting, high bioavailability, good compliance, and so on. ODT has been widely used in chemical medicines, while the application of it in traditional Chinese medicines (TCMs) is still in the stage of development The development of TCMs ODT provides a new direction for the research of Chinese medicine new dosage, accelerates the pace of connecting to the world and modernization of Chinese medicine. This dosage has a broad market prospect, and its quality control and assessment standards, taste, the disintegration time in vitro and evaluation method are the key factors that affect the industrialization, standardization of Chinese medicine ODT. Therefore, this paper reviewed the characteristics, preparation, taste masking technology and quality evaluation with new technology of ODT. Meantime, numerous application examples of ODT used in traditional Chinese medicine were described. We expect to provide the reference and utilization for the development of traditional Chinese medicine orally disinteeratine tablets.

Objective To evaluate the acute and long-term results of stenting for left main coronary artery (LMCA) bifurcation lesions. Methods Forty consecutive patients with LMCA bifurcation lesion and normal left ventricular function were included. Sirolimus-eluting stents were performed in all patients. Results (1)The average diameter of LMCA was (0.81?0.48)mm before stenting and increased to (3.53?0.22)mm after stenting.(2)The procedural success rate was 100.0%. In-hospital events including stent thrombosis,Q-wave myocardial infarction,and emergency bypass surgery did not occur in any patients,and non-Q-wave MI in one patient (2.5%).(3)Clinical follow-up was obtained in all patients at (8.43?3.24) months. There were no death and no myocardial infarction during follow-up. The major adverse cardis events rate was 20.0%.(4)The angiographic follow-up rate was 67.5% (27 of the 40 eligible patients),and the restenosis rate was 18.5% (parent vessel only 11.1%,side branch only 3.7%,and both 3.7%).(5)Different type of operation had no influence on restenosis rate during angiographic follow-up. Conclusion Sirolimus-eluting stent implantation for LMCA bifurcation stenosis appears safe and effective with regard to acute and midterm complications.
