Microbiology 1992;0(03):-
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), which consist of two or more fused aromatic rings, are ubiquitous pollutants in the environment, and are of concern because of their toxic and carcinogenic poten- tial. In nature, the aerobic bacterial bio-treatment of contamination with PAHs is of the major route. It is ob- vious that the degraders are more useful for the bioremediation of contaminated environments and may be potentially used in a wide of application. Therefore, many researchers have been focusing on the biodegra- dations of PAHs by various aerobic bacteria. In the last two decades, the mechanism of degradation in bacte- ria capable of aero-biotic utilizing PAHs has been well investigated in genetic studies such as diversities of genes of PAHs metabolism, the genes which participate directly in PAHs metabolism and the genetics me- chanism of bacterial population and so on. In brief, most of PAH-catabolic genes are classed into two groups according to their identity. One group is called "the nah-like genes", the other group, i.e. "the nah-unlike genes" is different from the nah-like genes. The different molecular genetics mechanisms of bacterial popu- lation adapted to PAH compound will be dealt with in three groups: (i) point mutations, (ii) gene transfer, and (iii) DNA rearrangements and absentation. In this review, some genetic knowledge about aerobic bacte- ria with the mechanism for the degradation of PAHs is summarized.

BACKGROUND:The incidence rate of peripheral T cel lymphoma is high in Asia, and peripheral T cel lymphoma is aggressive with generaly poor prognosis. However, there is no standard treatment strategy. OBJECTIVE:To retrospectively analyze the therapeutic effect of autologous hematopoietic stem cel transplantation on peripheral T cel lymphoma as wel as relevant toxic and side effects. METHODS:A retrospective review was conducted in 35 patients with peripheral T cel lymphoma who underwent autologous hematopoietic stem cel transplantation from March 2003 to April 2014, including 22 cases of extranodal NK/T-cel lymphoma (nasal type), 1 case of angioimmunoblastic T-cel lymphoma, 8 cases of peripheral T cel lymphoma (non-specific), 3 cases of ALK-positive anaplastic large cel lymphoma, and 1 case of ALK-negative anaplastic large cel lymphoma. Al of 35 patients were classified pathologicaly according to WHO pathological type in 2001 and 2008, and received the high-dose chemotherapy with vincristine, cytarabine, etoposide, mitoxantrone, semustine, cyclophosphamide, and total body irradiation. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: After a median folow-up of 54 (9-120) months, the probabilities of overal survival and disease-free survival after transplantation were 80% (n=28) and 71% (n=25), respectively. Eight cases (23%) relapsed after transplantation, seven of which died. It was safe with mild and moderate transplantation related side-effects on opportunistic infections, oral cavity mucosa and bladder responses and so on, and there were no severe, life-threatening late complications. Autologous hematopoietic stem cel transplantation may be an effective and safe treatment for peripheral T cel lymphoma, and there is a better benefit in peripheral T cel lymphoma patients with first complete remission.

Objective To research the relation between the time-dependent appearances of myofibroblasts during the repair of contused skeletal muscle in rat and wound age determination. Methods A total of 35 SD male rats were divided into the control and six injured groups according to wound age as fol-lows: 12 h, 1 d, 5 d, 7 d, 10 d and 14 d after injury. The appearances of myofibroblasts were detected by HE staining, immunohistochemistry and confocal laser scanning microscopy. Masson’s trichrome staining was utilized to examine collagen accumulation in the contused areas. Results Immunohistochemical stain-ing showed that α-SMA+ myofibroblasts were initially observed at 5 d post-injury. The average ratio of myofibroblasts was highest at 14 d post-injury, with all samples, ratios more than 50%. In the other five groups, the average of α-SMA positive ratios were less than 50%. The collagen stained areas in the contused zones, concomitant with myofibroblast appearance, were increasingly augmented along with ad-vances of posttraumatic interval. Conclusion The immunohistochemical detection of myofibroblasts can be applied to wound age determination. The myofibroblasts might be involved in collagen deposition during the repair of contused skeletal muscle in rat.
