Objective To investigate the preventive effect of Indomethacin for post-ERCP pancreatitis and hyperamylasemia. Methods A total of 600 patients, who were undergoing ERCP,were randomly divided into 3 groups to receive anal Indomethacin (n=200),intravenous octreotide (n=200) or no special medication (n=200) before ERCP.The level of serum amylase before and 24h after ERCP were measured, and the rate of acute pancreatitis and hyperamylasemia after ERCP were assessed. Results Serum amylase levels before ERCP of all groups were normal. The mean serum amylase level of Indomethacin group (101.3±77.7 U/L) after ERCP was significantly lower than those of octreotide group ( 176.6±138.3 U/L,P =0.040 ]and control group (227.2±264.9 U/L,P=0.048),while there was no difference between octreotide group and control group ( P>0.05 ).The incidence of post-ERCP pancreatitis in Indomethacin group (2.5%) was significantly lower than that of control group (9.5%,P=0.003),while there was no difference between octreotide group (4.5%) and control group ( P=0.05 ).The incidence of hyperamylasemia after ERCP in Indomethacin group (5.5%) was significantly lower than that of control group ( 13.5%,P=0.006 ),while there was no difference between octreotide group (10.0%) and control group ( P>0.05 ).Conctusion Anal administration of Indomethacin before ERCP can effectively reduce the incidence of acute pancreatitis and hyperamylasemia after ERCP.

Objective To investigate the iodine nutritional status of targeted population in the high-risk areas of iodine deficiency disorders in Chongqing, so as to provide scientific evidence for establishing prevention and remedial measures. Methods Six towns were selected in Chengkou and Wuxi Counties to found suspected dementia patients born after first Jan, 1997. Two hundred children aged 8-10 years were investigated in every town. The thyroid volume, intelligence quotient(IQ) and urinary iodine of the children were examined. Forty women (pregnant and nursing women) were investigated in every town. The iodine content of salt from their home was measured. The thyroid volume was examined by palpation and B-uhrasound. IQ was measured by combined Raven Test in China(CRT-RC2). Urinary iodine was determined using the acid digest arsenic-cerium contacting method, and iodined salt was detected using direct titration method. Results Six suspected dementia patients were found in the local town hospital. Five eases were excluded. There was 1 case born in other place. The rates of goiter by palpation and B-ultrasound were 9.58%(92/960) and 8.89%(65/731), respectively. The median of urinary iodine of children and women was 319.15 μg/L and 248.42 μg/L, respectively. The mean of IQ of the children was 103.32. The coverage rate of iodine salt from residents was 98.82%(336/340). Conclusions The iodine nutrition of children was good and there is no newly occurred cretinism in Chengkou and Wuxi Counties. Goiter rate and median of urinary iodine aged 8-10 years and of women, coverage rate of iodine salt from resident has meet the standard set for basical elimination iodine deficiency disorders.

Microbiology 1992;0(06):-
We isolated 61 endophyte isolates from the bark of 4 plants, Ginkgo biloba L, Albizzia julibrissin Durazz, Ailanthus sltissima (Mill) Swingle and Melia azedarach L. At the test concentration of 200 ?g/mL, higher than 50% of antitumor activities were demonstrated with crude extracts from 45.9% of fungal culture in MTT assay. Six isolates, YX5, YX17, YX36, KL1, CC1 and CC5, still showed higher cytotoxicity at 50 ?g/mL. No isolates from A. julibrissin had inhibitory effect towards EC109 at the test concentration of 50 ?g/mL; while about 15.8% of isolates from G. biloba were active. IC50 of the extract from the most active isolate YX5 against EC109, HONE1 and HeLa were 18.3 ?g/mL, 3.6 ?g/mL and 6.5 ?g/mL, respectively. Our results indicate that endophytes from G. biloba could be regarded as a potent source of antitumor drugs.

Chinese Journal of Radiology 2001;0(01):-
Objectives To discuss the CT features of primary tuberculosis in adults Methods CT images of 39 adult patients with primary tuberculosis were retrospectively analyzed and 30 cases were also examined after injection of contrast materials Results 39 patients had both mediastinal tuberculous lymphadenitis and parenchymal infiltration There were 25 cases (64 1%) with primary lesions involving the right lung and 14 cases (35 9%) in left side 28 cases(71 8%) appeared as patchy shadows, nodules, and lobular consolidation; 11 cases (28 2%) were with segmental or lobar consolidation In 30 cases with contrast enhanced CT,the mediastinal tuberculous lymphadenitis appeared as homogenous enhancement in 10 cases, irregular enhancement in 18 cases, central low attenuation and peripheral rim enhancement in 20 cases 14 cases showed that the nodes were confluenced with inhomogenous enhancement There were 26 cases with acute bronchogenic spread tuberculosis Conclusion The parenchymal infiltration and mediastinal tuberculous lymphadenitis are the basic features in adult primary tuberculosis Acute bronchogenic spread into other fields and the features of node enhancement after injection of contrast materials are very important findings in the diagnosis of primary tuberculosis

Objective:To investigate association of the new polymorphism G352A in the dopaminetransporter gene(DAT1)exon 15 with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder(ADHD)in Han Chinesechildren. Methods:The new mutant polymorphism G352A in the dopamine transporter gene(DAT1)ex-on 15 was found by the fluorescently-labeled dye-terminators assay. The study samples were comprised of337 ADHD children,207 unrelated controls and 201 integrated ADHD trios(included proband and bio-logical parents).Associations of polymorphisms with ADHD and its subtypes were examined by:(i)comparing cases and controls;and(ii)using family-based association study in transmission-disequilibri-um test(TDT).Results:The allele frequencies at the DAT1 G352A locus in the control samples were79.5% for 352G and 20.5% for 352A respectively.Association studies revealed no association betweenG352A in exon 15 of DAT1 and ADHD.But after a stratification by gender, there was possible associationbetween G352A and ADHD girls:the 352G allele had a tendency to be preferentially transmitted toADHD girls. Conclusion:There is no association between G352A,the new polymorphism,in exon 15 ofDAT1 and ADHD.The 352G allele has a tendency to be preferentially transmitted to ADHD girls, but thefindings require replication before drawing a definitive conclusion.
