1.Prognostic value of intracranial pressure monitoring for the management of hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage following minimally invasive surgery
World Journal of Emergency Medicine 2020;11(3):169-173
BACKGROUND: The incidence of hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage (HICH) has been
increasing during the recent years in low- and middle-income countries. With high mortality and morbidity
rates, it brings huge burden to the families. It lacks evidence regarding the application of intracranial
pressure (ICP) monitoring in HICH. In the current study, the authors aimed to evaluate whether ICP
monitoring could make any difference on the prognosis of HICH patients after minimally invasive surgery.
METHODS: A retrospective review of 116 HICH patients admitted to the Second Affiliated
Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine, between 2014 and 2016, was performed. The
effects of ICP monitoring on 6-month mortality and favorable outcomes were evaluated by univariate
and logistic regression analysis.
RESULTS: ICP monitors were inserted into 50 patients. Patients with ICP monitoring had a
signifi cantly better outcome (P<0.05). The average in-hospital duration in patients with ICP monitoring
was shorter than that in the patients without ICP monitoring (16.68 days vs. 20.47 days, P<0.05).
Mortality rates between ICP monitoring and no ICP monitoring did not differ significantly (16.0%
vs. 15.1%, P=0.901). On univariate analysis, age, Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) on admission and
presence of ICP monitor were independent predictors of 6-month favorable outcomes.
CONCLUSION: ICP monitoring is associated with a better 6-month functional outcome compared
with no ICP monitoring. Future study is still needed to confi rm our results and elucidate which subgroup of
HICH patients will benefi t most from the minimally invasive surgical intervention and ICP monitoring.
2.Recent research progress of traumatic optic nerve injury in rat model
International Eye Science 2014;(12):2182-2184
Traumatic optic nerve injury ( TON) is caused by direct or indirect optic nerve trauma, which is one of a serious complication of craniocerebral trauma. lts prognosis poor and usually bring permanent vision damage. At present, optic nerve injury and regeneration is hot in neurobiology research. To build an ideal experimental animal model is extremely important in research and development in the treatment of optic nerve injury. ln this article, we review the methods of making rat models of traumatic optic neuropathy, clinical similarities, advantages and disadvantages of among these models, to provide reference for more experimental study.

Objective: To explore the effect of KangXin oral solution on brain mitochondrial DNA(mtDNA) deletion mutation in aged Balb/c mice. Methods: The Balb/c mice were divided into the young group(6weeks),middle-aged group(6months) and aged group(14 months),each group has 10 mice.Brain mtDNA were obtained and polymerase chain reaction(PCR) technique was used to examine the fragment deletion of brain mtDNA,thus,to confi rm there was deletion of mtDNA in aged mice,s brain. The aged Balb/c mice were divided into two groups: the aged blank control group being given 0.9% normal sodium,KangXin oral solution group. After being treated for four months, the brain mtDNA were obtained and polymerase chain reaction(PCR) technique was used to amplify wild-type and deletion from of mtDNA.Gel imaging meter was used to detect optical density, then,to compare the optical density ratios of deletion from mtDNA/ wide type mtDNA in two groups. Results: There were 304bp mtDNA deletion in brain mitochondrial of aged Balb/c mice, but same mtDNA deletions were not detected in brain mitochondrial of young and middle-aged mice.Compared with aged blank control group, the mtDNA deletion of aged Balb/c mice in KangXin oral solution group decreased obviously(P〈0.001).Conclusion: mtDNA deletion mutation accumulates with the increase of age.KangXin oral solution can inhibit mtDNA deletion of aged mice.
6.Advances in research on oncolytic adenoviruses in tumor therapy.
Chinese Journal of Virology 2014;30(3):318-324
Oncolytic adenoviruses (Ads), which are live, replication-competent viruses that can selectively replicate in tumor cells and lead to cell lysis, have been used in tumor therapy. But due to the complexity and high mutability of human tumors, it becomes a major strategy to improve the selectivity, efficacy, and safety of oncolytic Ads. The oncolytic Ads that can express short hairpin RNA, cytokines, suicide gene, and matrix-modulating proteins have higher antitumor activity than the wild type. Tumor-specific promoters, especially hTERT and HRE promoters, increase the selectivity of oncolytic Ads for tumor cells. Moreover, oncolytic Ads surface-modified by polyethylene glycol (PEG), liposomes, biodegradable nanoparticles, and polypeptides have reduced immunogenicity and hepatotoxicity and improved antitumor activity when systemically administered, and the selectivity of oncolytic Ads can be significantly increased when linking PEG to antibodies, small peptides, cytokines, and ligands. Therefore, engineered oncolytic Ads combining the advantages of viral and non-viral vectors, as well as immunotherapy, are a promising strategy for improving the efficacy of targeted virotherapy.

Chinese Journal of Behavioral Medicine and Brain Science 2008;17(6):523-524
Objective To study the relation between chronic stressful, the neural changes in prefrontal cortex and depression. Methods Adapt chronic unpredictable stress with separate model to make depression model rats. After 22 days all the rats were killed and use immunohistochemistry method and computer image analysis to detect BDNF. To analysis the date with SPSS11.5 software. Results After 21 days stress, body weight ( t =2.915, P < 0.05), ambulation ( t = 6. 245, P < 0. 01 ), rearing( t = 2.693, P < 0. 05 ) and grooming ( t = 2. 685, P<0.05) decreased and stopping time in center( t=2. 388, P<0. 05) ,defecation( t =3. 846, P<0. 01 ) increased in experimental group. BDNF expressed obviously in control group and the prefrontal cortex expressed highly than that of the experimental group. BDNF expressions of experimental group were lower than that in control group ( P< 0.01 ) especially in right prefrontal cortex. Conclusion There was no difference of BDNF distribution in prefrontal cortex between both groups ,but after 21 days stress ,the BDNF levels of experimental rats obviously descent, especially in right prefrontal cortex.

Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice 2010;16(2):130-133
Because of spine structure and location importantance, spine artificial surgery is not only high-risk but also require proficiency of doctors. Image navigation system for spinal surgery could reduce risk and postoperative complications, and spinal image segmentation and registration methods are the key steps. This paper summarized spinal image segmentation and registration methods. Based on analysis of existing methods, we pointed out the shortcoming in the field, thus forecasts future development.

International Eye Science 2015;(4):717-719
AIM: To evaluate the efficacy of vitrectomy and pan-retinal photocoagulation followed with Ahmed implantation in management of neovascular glaucoma ( NVG) retrospectively.
METHODS: Vitrectomy combined with pan retinal photocoagulation and Ahmed implantation was performed on 15 cases ( 15 eyes ) with NVG. All patients were followed up for 12 ~ 36mo. The change of intraocular pressure (IOP), visual acuity, neovascularization of iris, complications were observed.
RESULTS: The visual acuity of 10 eyes was improved postoperative. IOP of postoperative 1, 6 and 12mo were decreased significantly compared with preoperative ( P<0.01 ) . Neovascularization of iris was reduced dramatically. No serious complications occurred.
CONCLUSION: Vitrectomy combined with pan retinal photocoagulation followed Ahmed implantation can manage NVG effectively.
