1.Spinal Locomotor Pattern Generator (review)
Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice 2006;12(12):1017-1020
It is generally accepted that locomotion in mammals, including humans, is based on the activity of neuronal circuits within the spinal cord (the central pattern generator, CPG). Recent studies indicate a plastic behavior of the spinal neuronal circuits following a spinal cord injuries (SCI). Studies have shown that body weight support treadmill training (BWSTT) is effective in restoring locomotor function in cats with a complete spinal lesion. It has become possible to regain some locomotor activity in patients with spinal cord injury through an intense training on BWSTT, as in cat. So, it is a staired problem how to take advantage of the plasticity of spinal locomotor pattern generator and design the gait training program for SCI patients.

Journal of Practical Stomatology 1995;0(04):-
Objective:To study attachment and proliferation of human periodontal ligment cells(HPDLCs) on demineralized root surface of teeth with periodontitis following EDTA gel application. Methods:44 single-rooted teeth extracted because of severe periodontitis were treated by scaling and root planing(SRP). Then the fragments(5 mm?4 mm) of experimental surfaces were prepared. The fragments were randomly divided into four groups. The root surfaces in group 1,2,3 and 4 were treated by 240 g/L of EDTA gel for 2,3 and 4 min respectively or without treatment(control). Then 1?104 cells were seeded on the surface of each fragment and routinely cultured for 1,3 and 5 days respectively after seeding, the specimens were prepared for microscopic observasion, the cells on the root surfaces were counted. Moreover the other eight fragments were prepared for SEM observasion. Results:HPDLCs attached to and proliferated on all treated surfaces.Group 1, 2 and 3 presented significantly more cells on the root surfaces than the control group did at day 1,3 and 5. The cells on the root surfaces in group 2 and 3 were more than those in group 1 at day 1, 3 and 5. There was no evident difference between group 2 and 3 at any time. The root surfaces in group 2 and 3 had a fibrillar texture associated with an increased diameter of the exposed dentinal tubule openings.Smear layer were observed on root surfaces in group 1. Conclusion:EDTA gel(at 240 g/L) application may enhance attachment and proliferation on root surface of HPDLCs.

·AIM: To investigate the effect of vitamin A on the conjunctival goblet cells of rat after corneal transplantation.·METHODS: Rat graft rejection models of corneal transplantation were established. SD rats were receptor and Wistar rats were donors. After corneal allografts were performed, 48 SD rats were randomly divided into three groups, 16 rats in each group. Group A was blank control group; group B was treated by oculotect gel (containing vitamin A); group C was treated by 1g/L dexamethasone eyedrops. Besides, group D was normal unoperated eyes.Slit-lamp microscope was employed to record and compare rejection index (RI) of corneal transplantation. Through HE,PAS staining of conjunctival histological sections and image analysis system, the number and morphology of conjunctival goblet cells were observed and analyzed between operation group and normal group.·RESULTS: The HE, PAS staining detection showed that the number of conjunctival goblet cells in oculotect gel group,1g/L dexamethasone eyedrops group and control group is lower than that in normal group after surgery (P<0.01). The number of conjunctival goblet cells in oculotect gel group and 1g/L dexamethasone eyedrops group is higher than that in control group (P<0.05). The number of conjunctival goblet cells in 1g/L dexamethasone eyedrops group is higher than that in oculotect gel group (P<0.05).·CONCLUSION: The results indicate that vitamin A may inhibit the decrease of conjunctival goblet cells after corneal allograft rejection in rats.

Objective To evaluate the possibility of keyhole approaches for surgical treatment of petroclival meningiomas. Methods We retrospectively analyzed our experience in 14 cases with petroclival meningiomas surgically treated from May 2003 to January 2004. Eight tumors involved the upper and middle clivus.five tumors were attached to the entire width of clivus and one tumor involved the middle and lower cilvus. The tumors infiltrated into parasella regions or cavernous sinus in six cases simultaneously. Retrosigmoidal keyhole approach was selected to remove the tumors in 6 cases, and subtemporal keyhole approach was selected in 2 cases, while the combined retrosigmoidal and subtemporal keyhole approaches were applied in other six cases. Results Gross total resections of the tumors were achieved in 8 cases, subtotal resections in 4 cases, large resection in two cases who had recurrent tumors. Postoperatively, neurological intact or unchanged were found in 8 cases. The main surgical complications were mild facial palsy (4 cases) , abducent dificits (3 cases) ,temporary oculomotor nerve dificits (2 cases),and lower cranial nerve palsy (1 case). One patient died from disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) two weeks after surgey. There were no CSF leakage and infections after surgery in all cases 11 to 19 months follow-up studies demonstrated the great improvement of the Ⅲ and Ⅶ nerve deficits, but minor improvement in the Ⅵ nerve deficits. Conclusion According to the location and extension of the tumors, retrosigmoidal or subtemporal keyhole approaches or their combined can be selected for surgical treatment. These keyhole approaches can expose sufficiently the petroclival region, shorten the surgical time, and minimize the complications. Combined usage of minimally invasive techniques including the keyhole approach and radiosurgey in the treatment of the petroclival meningiomas is suggested.

Chinese Journal of Experimental Ophthalmology 2012;30(8):699-703
Background Tight junctions are thought to play a significant role in the maintenance of the corneal epithelial defense for the eye,and the restoration of the tight junctions is critical during epithelial wound healing after refractive surgery. However, there are few reports about this study. Objective The aim of this study was to investigate and compare the expression of occludin in corneal epithelium following flap-free epipolis laser insitu keratomileusis (Epi-LASIK) and laser-assisted subepithelial keratectomy ( LASEK ). Methods Forty-eight clean New Zealand white rabbits were randomized into 2 groups, and 24 rabbits for each group.Flap-free Epi-LASIK and LASEK were performed in the right eyes of the rabbits in two groups, and other 2 age matched normal rabbits were as normal controls. The animals were sacrificed and the corneal samples were obtained at 1,2,3,5 days after surgery.Immunofluorescence staining was used to detect the expression of occludin in the corneal epithelium, and RT-PCR was used to identify the level of occludin mRNA in the central cornea. Results Occludin protein was expressed innormal corneal epithelium and showed the green fluorescence with the regular arrangement. The fluorescence intensity was lower in 1 -2 days in LASEK group with the irregular arrangement;while the fluorescence signal in corneal epithelium was stronger in flap-free Epi-LASIK group.3-5 days after surgery, the fluorescence intensities were bothenhanced in two groups.RT-PCR showed that the relative expression of occludin mRNA in corneal epithelium was 0.11 ±0.02,0.25 ± 0.03,0.43 ± 0.04 in LASEK group 1,2,3 days after surgery, respectively, and was lower than those of flap-free Epi-LASIK group ( 0.20± 0.04,0.44 ± 0.04,0.76 ± 0.04 ),showing significant differences between these two groups ( t =6.476,12.898,17.315,P< 0.05 ).No significant difference was seen in the expression of occludin mRNA in 5 days after surgery between two groups( t=-0.733,P>0.05).The relative values of occludin mRNA expression in corneal epithelium were gradually increased with time prolongation, presenting a significant difference among various time points ( Ftime =768.903,P =0.000). Conclusions The reformation of occludin in flap-free Epi-LASIK group is faster than that in LASEK group.Therefore,flap-free Epi-LASIK is prominant in reducing the stimulated symptoms and complication after the surgery.

Chinese Pharmacological Bulletin 2015;(8):1108-1111
Aim To investigate the periphery analge-sic effect of myricetin on a rat model of inflammatory pain and the mechanism. Methods Rat models of in-flammatory pain were induced by complete Freund ’ s adjuvant ( CFA) injection in left hindlimb plantar cen-ter. The thermal withdrawal latency ( TWL) was meas-ured before and after CFA or myricetin treatment. Elec-trophysiological method was used to identify the effect of myricetin on the action potential frequency and the voltage dependent potassium channel currents in small DRG neurons. Results Rats with CFA injected showed thermal hyperalgesia ( P <0. 05 ) and TWL in-creased significantly after myricetin intraperitoneally in-jected ( P <0. 05 ) . Current clamp recording showed the action potential frequency of small DRG neurons in rats was inhibited by myricetin ( P<0. 01 ) and voltage calmap recording showed the inhibitory effect of myr-icetin was enhanced by calcium depended potassium channel currents ( P<0. 05 ) . Conclusion Myricetin exerts periphery analgesic effect by enhancing calcium depended potassium channel currents and inhibiting excitability of small neurons of dorsal root ganglion.
