Objective To estimate curative effect of reconstruction of rabbit knee joint cartilage defect with the homogeneitic tissue engineered cartilages.Methods The chondrocytes were isolated and collected from articular cartilages of eight New Zealand white rabbits.The tissue engineered cartilages after culturing chondrocytes and atelocollogen for two days.Cartilage defects were created in both keen joint of twenty-six rab- bits.Complexes of chodrocytes and atelocollagen was grafted into the defect of left knee joint at once as experi- mental group,and no implantation were served as control.General and histological examination were respec- tively performed in both group at four weeks and eight weeks after surgery.Results After implantation,the defects were filled with cartilaginous tissue in experiment group,while there were only tissue in control group. Histologically,defective areas were filled with chondrocytes in experiment group,but only fibroblast in control group.Conclusion The implantation of the tissue engineered cartilages contenting with chondrocytes and atelocollogen can effectively improve reconstruction of rabbit knee joint.

The aim of this study was to design a simple, economic, with high Common Mode Rejection Ratio (CMRR), preamplifier and multi-channel masticatory muscle surface electromyography (sEMG) signal acquisition system assisting to diagnose temporomandibular disorders (TMD). We used the USB interface technology in the EMG data with the aid of the windows to operate system and graphical interface. Eight patients with TMD and eight controls were analyzed separately using this system. In this system, we analyzed sEMG by an optional combination of time domain, frequency domain, time-frequency, several spectral analysis, wavelets and other special algorithms under multi-parameter. Multi-channel sEMG System of Masticatory Muscles is a simple, economic system. It has high sensitivity and specificity. The sEMG signals were changed in patients with TMD. The system would pave the way for diagnosis TMD and help us to assess the treatment effect. A novel and objective method is provided for diagnosis and treatment of oral-maxillofacial disease and functional reconstruction.

Objective To observe whether calreticulin-induced mitochondrial dysfunction is involved in cardiomyocyte hypertrophy induced by angiotensin Ⅱ (AngⅡ).Methods Primary culture of neonatal rat cardiomyocytes was further confirmed by immunocytochemistry.The cardiomyocytes were randomly divided into model group,valsartan group and control group.The model group was subdivided into three groups which were separately treated with 1 0-8 mmol/L, 1 0-7 mmol/L, and 1 0-6 mmol/L Ang Ⅱ. Calreticulin expression, mitochondrial membrane potential level, enzyme activities, cell surface area and protein synthesis rate were observed.Results Cell surface area and protein synthesis rate were both increased in model groups compared with control group.Mitochondrial membrane potential level and enzyme activities were lower in model groups than in control group,while calreticulin expression was up-regulated.Pretreatment with valsartan partially reversed all the above changes.Conclusion Mitochondrial dysfunction induced by calreticulin may be an important mechanism of myocardial hypertrophy.

To understand Lophatherum gracile plant community's structural characteristics, a survey of community structure and species diversity was conducted through quadrat sampling in Yongchuan district of Chongqing. The results showed that there were 386 species vascular plants, belonging to 117 families and 229 genera. Based on habitat, community structure and species composition, L. gracile were found in three community types: Pinus massoniana community, banboo community, shurb community. Vertical structure was composed of three layers, including tree layer, shrub layer and herb layer. Species in shrub layer was the richness. P. massoniana is the only dominant species of the community, it can not regenerate naturally, the shrub layer has a greater effect on the community of L. gracile in the future. In addition, the banboo community and shurb community is not stable because of human's activity. Therefore, the community characters of L. gracile should be taken care of conservation when the resources are utilized.

This study examined the protective effect of ischemic postconditioning (IPoC) and minocycline postconditioning (MT) on myocardial ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury in atherosclerosis (AS) animals and the possible mechanism. Forty male healthy rabbits were injected with bovine serum albumin following feeding on a high fat diet for 6 weeks to establish AS model. AS rabbits were randomly divided into 3 groups: (1) I/R group, the rabbits were subjected to myocardial ischemia for 35 min and then reperfusion for 12 h; (2) IPoC group, the myocardial ischemia lasted for 35 min, and then reperfusion for 20 s and ischemia for 20 s [a total of 3 cycles (R20s/I20s×3)], and then reperfusion was sustained for 12 h; (3) MT group, minocycline was intravenously injected 10 min before reperfusion. The blood lipids, malondialdehyde (MDA), superoxide dismutase (SOD), soluble cell adhesion molecule (sICAM), myeloperoxidase (MPO), and cardiac troponin T (cTnT) were biochemically determined. The myocardial infarction size (IS) and apoptosis index (AI) were measured by pathological examination. The expression of bcl-2 and caspase-3 was detected in the myocardial tissue by using reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). The results showed that the AS models were successfully established. The myocardial IS, the plasma levels of MDA, sICAM, MPO and cTnT, and the enzymatic activity of MPO were significantly decreased, and the plasma SOD activity was significantly increased in IPoC group and MT group as compared with I/R group (P<0.05 for all). The myocardial AI and the caspase-3 mRNA expression were lower and the bcl-2 mRNA expression was higher in IPoC and MT groups than those in I/R group (all P<0.05). It is concluded that the IPoC and MT can effectively reduce the I/R injury in the AS rabbits, and the mechanisms involved anti-oxidation, anti-inflammation, up-regulation of bcl-2 expression and down-regulation of caspase-3 expression. Minocycline can be used as an effective pharmacologic postconditioning drug to protect myocardia from I/R injury.

Objective To study the current status of spontaneous abortion of primigravid women in Jiaxing areas of Zhejiang province of China. Methods We analyzed the data from both perinatal healthcare surveillance program and spontaneous abortion, collected in Jiaxing areas by the Institute of Reproductive and Child Health, Peking University. The study population consisted of 14 769 primigravid women (excluding induced abortion, ectopic pregnancy and molar pregnancy as outcomes) attempting to become pregnant who registered between 1993 and 1995. Results 1454 spontaneous abortion cases were identified, with the spontaneous abortion rate as 9.8% (95% CI:9.3%-10.3%). The mean gestational weeks at pregnancy diagnosis were 7.6±2.1 weeks, the mean gestational weeks at miscarriage were (10.1±3.1) weeks and the incidence of first-trimester (≤12 weeks) spontaneous abortion was 7.3%(95%CI: 6.8%-7.7%), accounting for 73.7% of all the spontaneous abortion cases. A peak for risk of miscarriage was around 8-13 weeks, accounting for 37.7% of all spontaneous abortion. The observed multiple Cox regression model showed that increased spontaneous abortion rates were observed in women with age at pregnancy ≥30, being peasants and with higher education level. Conclusion The spontaneous abortion rate of primigravid women in Jiaxing areas was higher than in other areas of China. The maximum occurrence of spontaneous abortions was during period of 8-13 gestation weeks.

Objective To observe the effects of culture medium of a mn iotic cells on NO and NOS in retinal tissues of rabbits in vitro in order to pro vide a protective method for antioxidation in retina transplantation. M ethods Thirty adult healthy rabbits (30 right eyes) were divided into 3 groups. Group Ⅰ: fresh retinal tissue; group Ⅱ: routine culture medium; group Ⅲ: culture medium of amniotic cells. The retinal tissues in group Ⅱ and Ⅲ we re cultured in the corresponding culture medium for 1 week. The content of NO an d NOS in retinal tissues in the 3 groups were determined. Results Compared with group I, the content of NO and NOS of group Ⅱ increased obvio usly (t=3.821, 3.854; P0.05) . Conclusion Culture medium of amniotic cells may remove free r adicals and enhance the ability of antioxidation.

Effects of selective dopamine-1 (DA1) receptor agonist fenoldopam and dopamine-2 (DA2) receptor agonist propy1-butyl-dopamine (PBDA) on the cAMP generation system in renal, pulmonary, mesenteric and femoral arteries of rabbits were studied. The results are as follows. (1) Fenoldopam increased the cAMP production in a dose-dependent manner in pulmonary, renal and mesenteric arteries. This effect of fenoldopam was markedly blocked by specific DA1 receptor antagonist SCH23390, but not at all by specific DA2 receptor antagonist domperidone. (2) PBDA induced a dose-dependent decrease in cAMP content in femoral artery. However, the antagonist also moderately increased a dose-dependent cAMP production in mesenteric, pulmonary, and renal arteries. (3) Domperidone significantly decreased the inhibitory effect of PBDA on cAMP production in femoral artery, while it stimulated cAMP production in mesenteric artery but was of no effect on that in renal and pulmonary arteries. (4) SCH23390 had no effect on the inhibitory action of PBDA in decreasing cAMP content in femoral artery, while it markedly decreased the stimulatory action of PBDA on cAMP production in renal, pulmonary and mesenteric arteries. These findings suggest the presence of DA1 receptors mediating the cAMP generation system in renal, pulmonary and mesenteric arteries, but only DA2 receptors in femoral artery, and both DA1and DA2 receptors in mesenteric artery. PBDA inhibits the AC activity via stimulation of DA2 receptors and increases the AC activity via stimulation of DA1 receptors.

Abstract: Objective - - To establish a pre column derivatization high performance liquid chromatography method for detecting Methods dimethyl sulfate (DMS) in workplace air. DMS in workplace air was collected with mercaptopyridine impregnated （ silicone tube. The derivative of DMS and mercaptopyridine was eluted by mobile phase phase A: water, phase B: acetonitrile, ∶ the volume ratio was 40 60) , and separated with a C18 column, then detected with diode array detector and quantitated by a Results - standard curve. The linear range of DMS was 0.17 40.00 mg/L, with the correlation coefficient of 0.999 95. The detection limit and the lower limit of quantitation were 0.05 and 0.17 mg/L respectively. The minimum detection concentration and minimum quantitation concentration were 0.02 and 0.04 mg/m³, respectively (air sample volume of 4.5 L, 1.0 mL sample - - - solution). The average desorption efficiency was 98.40% 102.00%. The within run and between run relative standard deviations - - were 0.61% 3.92% and 1.71% 6.00%, respectively. The samples could be stored at room temperature for at least 14 days. Conclusion This method can be used to detect DMS in workplace air.
