Chinese Journal of Medical Instrumentation 2006;30(4):268-270
This paper presents a machine learning method to select best geometric features for deformable brain registration for each brain location. By incorporating those learned best attribute vector into the framework of HAMMER registration algorithm, The accuracy has increased by about 10% in estimating the simulated deformation fields. At the same time, on real MR brain images, we have found a great deal of improvement of registration in cortical regions.

Objective:
To evaluate the accuracy of automated classification of ICD-O-3 morphology code from pathology reports by text-mining and support vector machine ( SVM ) , in order to provide basis for automated tumor coding in Chinese.
Methods:
The tumor report cards of Zhejiang residents from 2017 to 2019 were collected from Chronic Disease Surveillance Information Management System of Zhejiang Province. According to ICD-O-3, the keywords of the pathology reports were extracted, and SVM was used for automatic classification. The classification results were compared with those of 16 professionals with more than two years of experience in tumor coding, and the accuracy rate, recall rate and F-score were calculated for effect evaluation.
Results:
Totally 83 082 cases from 2017 to 2019 were included and were categorized into 17 morphological classifications, with 52 877 ( 63.65% ) cases of adenocarcinoma, squamous carcinoma and transitional cell carcinoma. A total of 1 090 keywords were enrolled into main corpus. The total F-score, accuracy rate and recall rate are 85.69, 77.20% and 96.27%, respectively.
Conclusion
Text-mining combined with SVM can improve the efficiency of ICD-O-3 morphology coding; however, the accuracy needs to be further improved.

OBJECTIVETo explore the operative methods and effects of treatment of old acetabular fractures.
METHODSFrom October 2001 to October 2007, 26 patients with old acetabular fractures were treated with operation including 21 males and 5 females with an average age of 34 years ranging from 18 to 65 years. On the basis of the three-dimensional computed tomography, all cases were diagnosed and classified according to Letourne-Judet classification, 9 cases were posterior wall fracture, 3 cases were lateropulsition fracture, 7 cases were lateropulsition and posterior wall fracture, 2 cases were posterior column and posterior wall fracture, 2 were T-shape fracture, 3 were dual column fracture. These patients were treated through the anterior, posterior, combined anterior-posterior approaches. The time from injured to operation was 33 to 141 days (averaged 36.4 days). All the fractures were fixed with screws and AO reconstruction plates.
RESULTSAll patients were followed up for 6 to 96 months, with an average time of 32.4 months. Evaluated according to Matta criteria, the results of scores was (5.04 +/- 1.04) on pain, (5.23 +/- 0.76) on range of motion, (4.92 +/- 1.16) on walking, and tatal (5.06 +/- 0.99) on average; The functional results of hip joints were excellent in 6 cases, good in 10 cases, fair in 6 cases, and poor in 4 cases. Sciatic nerve injury was found in 2 patients, lateral femoral cutaneus nerve injury in 3 patients, necrosis of femoral head in 1 patient, infection in 1 patient, and ectopic bone formation in 6 patients.
CONCLUSIONGood clinical results can be obtained by careful selection of operative indications of old acetabular fractures in combination with proper operative approach and correct reduction and fixation.

Endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS) is an adaptive process in response to circumstantial changes, but excessive and/or prolonged ERS can induce cell apoptosis. C/EBP homologous protein (CHOP) is a very important marker participating in ERS-associated cell apoptosis, while the role of the myocyte apoptosis induced by CHOP remains unclear in the development of hypertrophy. The present study aimed to investigate the effect of CHOP-mediated ERS-associated apoptosis on myocardial hypertrophy induced by abdominal aortic constriction in rats. Healthy male Wistar rats were randomly divided into model group (n=45) and control group (n=40). The rats in model group received abdominal aortic constriction. Hemodynamic changes, whole heart weight/body weight (HW/BW) and left ventricular weight/body weight (LVW/BW) were measured on 1 d, 3 d, 7 d, 14 d and 28 d after surgery, respectively. The mRNA expression of glucose-regulated protein 78 (GRP78), calreticulin (CRT) and CHOP, which are important markers of ERS, were detected by RT-PCR, and Western blot was used to assess the protein level of GRP78, CRT, CHOP, and apoptosis-associated proteins, Bax and Bcl-2. The results obtained were as follows. Compared with control group, the blood pressure, LVW/BW, and HW/BW of rats in model group increased significantly and cardiac function enhanced compensatively on 7 d after surgery, and increased progressively during the experiment. As early as 1 d after surgery, the mRNA level of CRT in model group increased by 136% (P< 0.01) compared with control, while the protein expression increased by 69.2% on 7 d after surgery (P<0.01). Both mRNA and protein expression of GRP78 increased by 20% and 186% (P<0.01) respectively on 7 d after surgery, and the expression sustained high level during the experiment afterwards. Correlation analysis indicated a positive correlation between +dp/dt(max) and CRT protein expression (r=0.780, P<0.01) as well as GRP78 protein expression (r=0.694, P<0.01). Prolonged ERS triggered myocyte apoptosis, as both the mRNA and protein level of CHOP in model group increased by 22.2% (P<0.01) and 76.0% (P<0.01) respectively compared with control on 7 d after hypertrophy (14 d after surgery), and meanwhile, the protein expression of pro-apoptotic Bax increased by 41.1% (P<0.01) and anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 protein expression decreased by 25.5% (P<0.01). Correlation analysis indicated a positive correlation between CHOP and Bax expression (r=0.654, P<0.01), and a negative correlation between CHOP and Bcl-2 expression (r=-0.671, P<0.01). These results suggest that abdominal aortic constriction induces a significant up-regulation in ER molecular chaperones at early stage of post-surgery, indicating that ERS response is activated in the rat heart; while prolonged ERS could lead to myocyte apoptosis, and CHOP-mediated ERS-associated apoptosis may contribute to myocardial hypertrophy. We speculate that cell apoptosis may take part in the regulation of myocardial hypertrophy and heart failure, and determine the progression of decompensated hypertrophy.
