Annals of Dermatology 1994;6(1):31-36
BACKGROUND: Pemphigus foliaceus(PF) and pemphigus vulgaris(PV) have different target antigens which belong to the desmoglein(DG) subfamily of the desmosomal cadherins; DG in the case of PF and PV antigen(PVA) in the case of PV. OBJECTIVE: Because DG is also a normal major component of the intercellular adhesive core, we investigated the immunohistochemical distribution of DG in PF to compare and contrast the findings with those of PV. METHODS: Immunohistochemical analysis using streptavidin-biotin complex method with anti-DG monoclonal antibody was done in six cases of PF and six cases of PV, as well as two samples of normal skin as control. RESULTS: Both disorders showed abnormal intense diffuse cytoplasmic staining patterns in the lesional skin. Contrary to PF, showing complete loss of normal, rim-like, membranous staining, two of six cases of PV showed the relatively well preserved normal staining pat-terns in the upper epidermis. CONCLUSION: The differences in the expression of DG in the lesional skins between PF and PV suggest that PVA is distinct from DG, although an overlapping of antigens between PF and PV could exist.

Journal of the Korean Radiological Society 1981;17(2):340-347
In 1951, Leborgen pointed out the special diagnostic importance of punctate calcifications in the diagnosis of breast cancer by mammography. Calcifications within the breast may occure in both malignant and benign diseases, the characteristic findings have been reported subsequently by many other investigators. This study was done toreevalute the significance and diagnostic value of calcifications of female breast cancers. The clinical materals were 980 cases of those underwent mammography, and 76 cases of those histopathologically diagnosis was confirmed. Fine calcifications were radiologically found in 24 cases of these 76. A morphological analysis was made inregards to the relationship between the calcific particles and various mammary diseases. The results were asfollows; 1. The irregularly fine spiculate and punctate calcifications were found in 11 cases (45.8%) of cancergroup, and rather uniformly fine smooth calcifications were found in 14 out of 52 cases (26.9%) of benign conditions. 2. In cancer group, the calcifications were finely punctate or spiculate in shape and in numerable innumber with a tendency toward formation of densely packed clusters within and adjacent to the lesional areas. Nospiculate calcifications were observed in benign conditions. There were, however, no difference in either size ordensity of particles in both benign and malignant conditions. 3. These fine calcifications of the breast detectedby mammography seem to be a useful marker in localizing so small a lesion as not to be palpable and in obtaining proper biopsy specimen.

In Korea, Kerion celsi caused by T. verrucosum was first reported by Kim et al in the Honam province in 1986. Since then three mare cases have been reported in the Young Nam province. Herein present a case of kerion celsi caused by T. verrucosum from Chungcheong province. The patient, a 7-year old female, showed a 4x 4cm sized, oval, yellow crusted and boggy patch with alopecia on the scalp. She was living on a farm in a rural area of Chungcheong province. Cows on the farm also exhibited similar skin lesions on the buttock. The same T. verrucosum was identified by a characteristic colony morphology on Sabourauds dextrose agar and chains of chlamydoconidia with mycologic stain from scales of lesions of patient and cows. This skin lesion was successfully treated with griseofulvin.

Clinics in Shoulder and Elbow 2015;18(2):102-104
In this report, a case of a 70-year-old man with a large ganglion cyst formed after anterior transposition of the left ulnar nerve is presented. Three months after the index surgery, the patient presented with a painless superficial ovoid, soft mass measuring 5x4x2 cm in size located at the posteromedial aspect of the left elbow, the previously operated site. Magnetic resonance imaging showed a well demarcated cystic mass with a stalk connecting to the elbow joint. Excisional biopsy was performed and pathologic findings showed that the cystic wall had no definite lining cells with myxoid degeneration compatible with findings of ganglion cyst.

Journal of the Korean Radiological Society 1981;17(2):328-331
The diagnostic importance of finding an appendicolith in the plain x-ray of the abdomen has been well documented. However, most of the papers so far published have stressed x-ray findings of the preoperative abdomenin acute appendicitis. In the present study we have attempted to correlate incidences of appendicoliths insurgical specimen and plain x-ray of the abdomen. The materials were 37 surgical specimens of the appendix removed for acute appendicits at St. Mary's Hospital, St. Paul's Hospital, Kang Nam Hospital, Holy Family Hospital and Our Lady of Mercy Hospital of Catholic Medical College during the period of 6 months from August 1980. Each surgical specimen was subjected to soft tissue radiography to detect calcified appendicolith. Then the preoperative x-raysof abdomen were retrospectroscopically analysed for the presence of radiographically demonstrable appendicoliths. Our study revealed that in as many as 32% of 37 surgical specimens one or more calcified appendicoliths were demonstrated radiographically whereas only one of these was identified as such in the preoperative x-ray film ofthe abdomen. Such a great discrepancy between the incidences of appendicoliths in the surgical specimen andpreoperative x-ray films of the abdomen are ascribed to (1) relative smallness of appendicoliths (87% of the stones measured less than 1cm in diameter in radiographs of surgical specimen in our series), (2) overlapping of these small stones on the right iliac bone and (3) underpenetrating of the iliac bone area in x-ray films of theabdomen. For improving detctability of appendicoliths therefore it is recommended that the technique of radiography of plain abdomen should be such that a small appendicolity overlying the iliac bone can be brought outof trabecular shadows.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1996;34(4):664-667
Isotopic response is the occurrence of a new unrelated disease that appears at the same location as a previously already healed disease. In 1995, Wolf et al defined a this new phenomenon and reported eight new cases with fiftyeight cases corresponding to the definition for this phenomenon in literiture. We report two cases considered as isotopic response, urticarial vasculitis and erythema multiforme developed on striae distensae, respectively.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1993;31(1):47-57
Trichomoniasis, a common and sometimes distressing condition in women, is caused by infection of the genitourinary tract by the pathogenic protozoan Trichomonris aginalis(T. vaginalis). Men may also be infected, although frequently without any symptoms, and most cases of trichomoniasis are sexually transmitted. The best evidence for an etiologic role for T. vaginalis is in nongonococcal urethritis(NGU). In epidemiologic studies, T,ginalis has been isolated from 1 to 68 percent in men with NGU. The nurnber of NGU is increasing rapidly than gonorrhea in deeloped nations, and in some developing countries, especially in Korea, In view of the difficulties in findng trichomonads by direct microsco by in men, urine culture and serodiagnosis plays an important role in the diagnostic work. Urine culture, indirect fluorescent antibody test(IFAT) and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) were used to elecect T.vaginalis in 221 patients with male NGU. These patients visited the VD Clinic of ChoongKu Public Health Center in Seoul from May to August, 1989 and from March, 1990 to December, 1991. The results obtained were as follows.: 1. T. vaginalis was grown from only one of the 221 samples on TPS-1 meida. 2. In 208 NGU patients, there were 10(4.8%) positive reactions on IgG antibody in IFAT. 3. In 208 NGU patient, there were 14(6.7%) positive reactions to IgG antibody in ELISA. 4. No statistical significant correlation was found between then sults of IFAT and ELISA in individual patients. In conclusion, 1. Male trichomoniasis in patients with NGU was detected at a, significantly low rate. Due to the small number of patients in the test, further epidemiologic stidies of trichomoniasis in male NGU patient are necessary. 2. Serologic studies (IFAT and ELISA) have detected sorre trichomoniasis in male patients with NGU. These tests seem to be helpful in the diagnosis of male t-ichomoniasis.

9.Laparoscopic Extracorporporeal Knot Thying Using an Instrument for Knot Pushing and Tightening.
Journal of the Korean Surgical Society 1997;53(4):470-472
Priciples of kont-tying have assumed a new and enhanced role in operative laparoscopy. The surgeon should be familiar with extracorporeal knot-tying techniques. For extracorporeal knot-tying, a knot pusher is used to properly secure the knot. But a knot pusher has some limitation for tightening of the knot. I developed an instrument which has a slit and hole.(slit for knot pushing and hole for knot tightening) for a secure knot. By using this instrument(Lee's knot presser) it is very easy and secure for knot-tying. The surgeon can confirm and control the knot tightening.

Korean Journal of Pathology 2000;34(7):534-536
Adenoid basal cell tumor of the prostate is a rare tumorous lesion that can be misdiagnosed as adenocarcinoma of the prostate. The malignant potential of adenoid basal cell tumor remains uncertain due to small number of reported cases. This 66-year-old man presented with symptoms of urinary tract obstruction. Under the impression of benign prostatic hyperplasia, a transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) was performed. The patient was alive with no evidence of recurrence or metastasis 15 months after TURP. Microscopically, most of the lesions were composed of nodular collections of small nests of basaloid cells with peripheral palisading, and clusters of tumor cells forming cribriform pattern. Multiple areas of basal cell hyperplasia and atypical basal cell hyperpalsia were also observed. The coexistence of basal cell hyperplasia, atypical basal cell hyperpalsia, and adenoid basal cell tumor with cribriform pattern in this case supports a morphologic continuum from the benign hyperplastic lesion to malignant neoplasia.
