1.Nursing of slit-lamp anterior segment processing system in treatments of corneal foreign body
Chinese Journal of Modern Nursing 2010;16(15):1808-1809
Objective To explore the application and nursing of slit-lamp anterior segment processing system in treatments of corneal foreign body. Methods Totally, 120 cases were divided into the control group and the experimental group randomly, the 60 cases of control group received the traditional treatment and the other 60 cases received the Canon PowerShotA720IS numerical code camera (12,000,000 picture elements)SLM slit lamp to show the position of corneal foreign body, and were carried on some photographs under different angles ( the enlargement ratio ×10, ×16, ×20). Results The rate of credibility and satisfaction to the medical care personnel in experimental group were higher than that in control group, the difference has statistical significance. Conclusions The application of slit-lamp anterior segment processing system provides the direct qualitative basis for the patients. It's convenient for patients to understand their state of the illness, and at the same time, it will achieve the ideal effect when carrying on the relative nursing.

BACKGROUNDMutations in PAX6 gene have been shown to be the genetic cause of aniridia, which is a severe panocular eye disease characterised by iris hypoplasia. However, there is no study to do genetic analysis of aniridia, although there are several case reports in China. Here, we describe a mutation analysis of PAX6 in a large Chinese family with aniridia.
METHODSGenomic DNA from venous blood samples was prepared. Haplotype analysis was performed with two genetic markers (D11S904 and D11S935). Fourteen exons of the PAX6 gene were amplified from genomic DNA. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) products of each exon were analysed by single strand conformational polymorphism (SSCP). The PCR products having an abnormal pattern were sequenced to confirm the mutation.
RESULTSSignificant evidence for allele sharing in affected patients was detected suggesting that PAX6 mutation links to aniridia in this family. An extra band corresponding to exon 9 in PAX6 was found by single strand conformational polymorphism analysis in all the aniridia patients in this family, but not detected in the unaffected members. A mutation of C to T was detected by sequencing at the nucleotide 1080 that converts the Arg codon (CGA) to the termination codon (TGA).
CONCLUSIONSAniridia is caused by a nonsense mutation of PAX6 gene in the large Chinese kindred. Genetic test is important to prevent the transmission of aniridia to their offsprings in the kindred by prenatal diagnosis.

Objective To understand the pathogen-carrying status of hand-foot-mouth disease (HFMD) among healthy people in Guangdong province. Methods Stool specimens were collected randomly on 7 age groups from 7 cities in Guangdong province.Real-time RT-PCR was used to detect enterovirus (EV),enterovirus 71 (EV71) and coxsackie virus A16 (CA16).Results Altogether,1285 stool specimens were collected. The positive rates of EV71,CA16 and other enterovirus were 0.39% (5/1285),0.23% (3/1285) and 7.00% (90/1285),respectively.The highest EV71 positive rate (1.79%) was among the 4-6-year-old group, followed by the age group 0-3 with positive rate as 0.67%.EV71 was not found among the rest age groups. The highest CA16 positive rate (1.35%) was among the 4-6 year-olds group, but the CA16 was not found among the rest age groups.EV71 was only found among native population, with the positive-rate as 0.47%.CA16-positive rate was 0.19% among the native population and 0.85% among floating population, with no significant difference found (P>0.05).The EV71 positive rate was 0.36% among rural residents and 0.54% among urban residents, but with no significant difference (P>0.05).All CA16 was found among the urban residents. Conclusion Recessive infection of EV71 and CA16 were only found among 0-6 year-old group but not found among other groups, which suggested that the approaches on prevention and control should be targeted to all children especially on pre-school children.
