1.Treatment of cervical opening wound (report of 43 cases).

OBJECTIVE:
To summarize our experiences on surgical saving of the cervical opening wound.
METHOD:
Retrospectively analyze 43 cases with cervical opening wound in department of otolaryngology, suizhou central hospital from 1992-2010.
RESULT:
Forty-one among 43 cases healed with no complications, 1 case died of obstruction of air way and hemorrhagic shock, and 1 case occurred secondary laryngostenosis and resulted in fine prognosis af ter treating with laryngotracheoplasty in higher hospital.
CONCLUSION
It is very important to give the appropriate treatment on the injuries of large cervical vessels, nerves, laryngeal cartilages, throat mucosa and complications. It is important to repair the wounds primarily. Correct diagnosis and treatment at first time, and well nursing are crucial for good prognosis.

2. Association between polymorphism in notch signaling pathway and lung cancer risk

Objective:
To analyze the relationship between single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) of Notch signaling pathway and susceptibility to lung cancer.
Methods:
The present study was a hospital-based case-control study. All 1 121 patients of lung cancer diagnosed by histopathology three hospitals in Fujian and Nanjing were selected as cases from January 2006 to December 2012. At the same time, 1 121 healthy population from other departments of the hospital to visit patients or community, excluding those with tumor, chronic disease, and immediate family members of lung cancer, were enrolled in control group. A uniform questionnaire was used to collect general information. Matrix-assisted laster desorption ionization time of flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF-MS) was used to identify the polymorphisms of 9 SNP (Notch3 rs3815188, Notch4 rs915894, Notch4 rs520692, DLL1 rs1033583, JAG1 rs8708, JAG2 rs9972231, HEY1 rs1046472, HEY2 rs3734637, HES2 rs11364) in 1 121 lung cancer patients and 1 121 healthy controls. The association between SNP and lung cancer was analyzed by χ2 and logistic regression model.

The purpose of this study was to use the data on lung cancer in Han Chinese in Fujian province to explore the value of a generalized,linear model and to investigate the impact related to environment factors on lung cancer as well as the independent and interaction effects on the development of lung cancer.SAS 9.2 was used to build a generalized linear model to evaluate the influence factors and interaction of lung cancer on both smokers and non-smokers.Results showed that the relationship of the factors was multiplied.Under the logistic regression analysis,seven risk factors and nine risk factors were noticed in smokers or in non-smokers,respectively.Heavy smokers and lung diseases appeared a positive multiplying effect on smokers while passive smoking and fresh fruits showed positive multiplying effects on non-smokers.The generalized linear models could filter suitable models thus facilitating further research on the interaction between the two.It seemed easy to carry on the comprehensive and rational analysis on related epidemiological data.
4.Increased autophagy of peripheral blood neutrophils and neutrophils extracellular traps formation in systemic lupus erythematosus.

Objective To explore the role of autophagy, apoptosis of neutrophils and neutrophils extracellular traps (NET) formation in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Methods Thirty-six patients with SLE were recruited as research subjects, and 32 healthy controls matched accordingly were enrolled as control subjects. The expression levels of microtubule associated protein 1 light chain 3B (LC3B), autophagy-related gene5(ATG5), P62, B-cell lymphoma 2(Bcl2), Bcl2-related X protein (BAX) in neutrophils were detected by Western blot analysis. Flow cytometry was employed to analyze the expression of LC3B on neutrophils. The expression level of myeloperoxidase(MPO) in plasma was estimated by ELISA. Furthermore, neutrophils were cultured in vitro and stimulated by 100 nmol/L rapamycin and 10 μg/mL lipopolysaccharide (LPS) for 6 hours, respectively. And then, the expression levels of LC3B, ATG5, P62, Bcl2 and BAX in neutrophils were detected by Western blot analysis. The level of MPO in culture supernatant was detected by ELISA. The change of fluorescence intensity of NET in culture supernatant was assayed by SytoxTM Green staining combined with fluorescence spectrophotometry. Results Compared with healthy controls, the levels of autophagy and apoptosis of neutrophils and NET formation in SLE patients were increased. The level of apoptosis and NET formation was positively associated with neutrophil autophagy. The level of autophagy showed an increase but had no effect on apoptosis and NET formation for neutrophil stimulated by rapamycin. The levels of autophagy and NET formation also increased with no significant effect on apoptosis for neutrophil induced by LPS. Conclusion The autophagy, apoptosis and NET formation of neutrophils increase in SLE patients. The activation of autophagy and NET in neutrophils possibly result from the inflammatory internal environment in SLE patients.
