Objective To evaluate the usefulness of MR cisternography in epidermoids of the cerebellopontine angle (C-P angle). Methods The findings of MR cisternography of epidermoids of the C-P angle in 19 cases confirmed by surgery were analysed retrospectirey. The signal intensity of tumors, the effect on nerves and vessels by tumor were evaluated. Results MR cisternography depicted tumors as slight-medium hypointense (n=19) to CSF. 84% of patients had involvement of the trigeminal nerves (n=16); 42% of patients had involvement of the facial nerve and the acoustic nerve (n=8); 26% of patients had involvement of the internal carotid artery (n=5); 21% of patients had involvement of the vertebral-base artery (n=4). Conclusion MR cisternography contributes to show the anatomic details of the C-P angle and clearly depicte the relationship between tumors and nerves as well as vessels. Thus it can provide useful informations for the presurgical planning and approach of C-P angle epidermoids.

Objective To explore the effect of dexamethasone (Dex) given with the intention of prevention or treatment on endotoxin shock in rabbits and its relationship with tumor necrosis factor (TNF). Methods Fifty-three health rabbits were divided into 4 groups, including normal control (n=13), endoxin shock group (n=16), preventive Dex group (n=12) and therapeutic Dex group (n=12). Except normal control was given with saline, the other 3 groups were administered with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) infusion, and the preventive Dex group was treated with Dex (5 mg/kg body weight) 30 min before LPS infusion and the therapeutic Dex group 20 min after LPS infusion. Mean arterial blood pressure (MABP), survival rate, TNF level in circulatory blood and other parameters were detected. Results In preventive and therapeutic Dex groups, MABP was increased and survival rate was reduced compared with the animals from endoxin shock group (P<0.05, P<0.01), and TNF activity in the circulating blood was significantly suppressed (P<0.01). In addition, dexamethasone administration could alleviate the elevation of plasma glucagon, glucose, lactic acid, and β-glucironidase (P<0.05, P<0.01) in shocked animals. It was also found that administration of dexamethasone in vitro prevented the release of TNF by Kupffer cells. Conclusion These results indicate that the preventive and therapeutic effect of dexamethasone on endotoxin shock, which may relate to its direct inhibition of the release of TNF induced by LPS.

Objective To investigate the correlation between pathologic features and contrast?enhanced ultrasound in patients with breast ductal papilloma. Methods From January 2014 to January 2016,80 patients with breast intraductal tumor treated in our hospital were selected, including 20 cases of breast ductal carcinoma (ductal carcinoma group) and 60 cases of benign tumor (benign group). Both groups received conventional ultrasound, ultrasonic angiography, and pathological feature analysis. Results Breast surrounding hyperecho, internal micro calcification, border edge burr and posterior echo attenuation were more frequently seen onconventional ultrasound in ductal carcinoma groupthan inbenign group(P<0.05). The average scores of contrast?enhanced ultrasound were significantly higher in ductal carcinoma group than in the control group(P<0.05). In the ductal carcinoma group, there were statistical significant differences betweenpatientswith different lymph node metastasis dukes staging ,and differentiation types (P < 0.05). Spearman rank correlation coefficient analysis showed that breast intraductal carcinoma lymph node metastasis and dukes staging, differentiation types were markedly correlated with pathological features and ultrasound imaging (r=0.341,0.368,and-0.289;P<0.05). Conclusions Conventional ultrasound and contrast?enhanced ultrasound have very good imaging featuresin the diagnosis of breast intraductal cancer ,and there is correlation between pathologic features and contrast?enhanced ultrasound in patients with breast ductal papilloma, which can provide values for early diagnosis of breast ductal carcinoma.

OBJECTIVE:To study the inhibitory effects of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K) inhibitor LY29400 (“LY”) combined with indole-3-carbinol (I3C) on the proliferation of human anaplastic thyroid carcinoma FRO cells. METHODS:RFO cells in logarithmic growth phase were divided into blank control group,I3C (250 μmol/L) group,LY (10 μmol/L) group and combination (I3C of 250 μmol/L + LY of 10 μmol/L) group, which were subject to 24,48 and 72 h drug action. MTT method was used to determine and calculate the inhibitory rates of the cells in all groups, flow cytometry assay to determine the apoptosis rates after 48 h action,Western blot method to determine the expressions of Capspase-3 proteins thereafter and immunohistochemi-cal method to determine the expressions of Bcl-2 and Bax thereafter. RESULTS:The inhibitory rate obviously increased with the ex-tension of drug action time, with statistical significance at each time point in combination group (P<0.05). Compared to I3C group and LY group, combination group had higher inhibitory rate, apoptosis rate and the expressions of Capspase-3 protein and Bax,and lower Bcl-2 expression and ratio of Bcl-2 to Bax,with statistical significance (P<0.01). CONCLUSIONS:LY com-bined with I3C has synergistic inhibitory effects on the proliferation of FRO cells by a mechanism which may be related to apopto-sis induced by down-regulating Bcl-2 expression,up-regulating Bax expression and activating Caspase cascade reaction.
