This study was conducted to investigate the nursing diagnosis applying to rehabilitation unit. The subject of this was consisted of 101 nurses who have been working over 1 year in rehabilitation unit. The clssification of nursing diag-nosis used NANDA's system and analysis of the validity was based on Fehring's model. In summury of this study, some dirrerences were found in related factors in nursing diagnosis between rehabilitation and general unit. Major re-lated factors of nursing diagnosis were physical factors associated with neuromuscular disorder. Valid related factors in altered nutrition: more than body requirements was not found for re-habitation unit. It is helpful for the nurses who work at re-habilitation unit to apply the nursing diagnosis validated in this study. This finding can be used as the database for accomplished nursing diag-nosis appropriate for improving the rehabilitation nursing practice.

INTRODUCTION: The purpose of this study was to investigate the changes in the concern and attitudes of Nursing students toward the disabled before and after the disability experience program. METHOD: 151 Nursing students with clinical practice in National rehabilitation hospital were conveniently selected as the subject. All subjects had experience the disability program, and their attitudes toward the disabled were measured before and after the 3hours' program. Collected data were analyzed by SPSS 11.0 with paired t-test. RESULTS: 1. The concern toward the disabled after their disability experience program was more positive than before(t= -4.930, p= .000). 2. The attitudes toward the disabled after their disability experience program was more positive than before(t=5.892, p=.000). 3. The appreciation of daily life after their disability experience program was higher than before(t=- -8.563, p= .000). CONCLUSION: In summary, the disability experience program should be effective in order to promote the positive attitude toward the disabled. Therefore expansion of this program is of profound significant.

Rate of nursing staff per bed have been about 0.3 - 0.4 for nursing facilities of provinces and cities and about 0.2 - 0.3 for that of sectors. 70% of nursing facilities are good in housing condition, equipment and environment. After 5-year renewal, it was achieved some encouraged results: rate of staffs per bed is 0.7 - 0.8; rate of professional staffs is 65%. The number of staffs who were trained for rehabilitation is rising. The strategy for establishing the network from 2001 to 2010 recommended 100% of provinces/cities would have nursing-rehabilitation hospital; each administrative sectors should establish average two to three nursing-rehabilitation hospitals; each corporations would have one or two nursing-rehabilitation hospitals.

The functions, duties and organizational structure of hospital for nursing and rehabilitation were regulated in the decision No 963/1999/QD-BYT by Minister of Health. The functions- duties include the consultation, treatment, nursing and rehabilitation, profession leading, scientific research, international cooperation and economic management. The organizational structure of hospital depends the state regulation. The hospital is directly managed by the provincial health services.

PURPOSE: To survey the present status of the rehabilitation nursing course at three year diploma programs, baccalaureate degree programs (BSN), RN-BSN, and graduate programs in Korea and to analyze the contents of the syllabus to provide the basic data in developing a standard model for rehabilitation nursing curriculum. METHOD: Data was collected from all the nursing programs in Korea from July 2005 to Nov. 2005 by mail and fax. RESULT: The rehabilitation nursing courses has been offered 12 diploma program, 16 BSN, 4 RN-BSN, and 16 graduate programs. And the credits of the rehabilitation nursing course offered by the program were as follows : one credit (6 diploma and 1 BSN), two credits (6 diploma, 14 BSN and 1 RN-BSN), and three credits (1 BSN, 3 RN-BSN and 16 graduate). CONCLUSION: Future studies need to be focused on developing rehabilitation nursing curricula reflecting the updated contents of rehabilitation nursing.

PURPOSE: This study attempted to understand patients' and nurses' perspectives on the priority of rehabilitation nursing services using Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA). METHODS: This study used descriptive research design. Data were collected from 121 patients and 144 nurses using self-reported questionnaires. Statistical analysis included an independent t-test, analysis of variance (ANOVA), and IPA conducted using SPSS/WIN 21.0 version. RESULTS: There were no statistical differences between the patients' and nurses' mean scores on perceptions of the importance (t=-0.83, p=.409) and performance (t=-0.32, p=.751) of rehabilitation nursing services. The IPA matrix showed a difference between patients and nurses in terms of their perceived priority of nursing services. Regarding the perception of patients, "helping a patient to continue to practice bedside physiotherapy and occupational therapy", "providing information on the proper care agency and community resources", and "providing education for the prevention of complications" fell in the "concetrate here" area (2nd quadrant). CONCLUSION: The results showed that the priorities of patients and nurses did not match in terms of some of the rehabilitation nursing services. Thus, rehabilitation nursing services need to be provided based on the patients' needs. Allocation of resources for the service items that fell in the "concentrate here" area of the IPA need be reconsidered for the quality in nursing care.

PURPOSE: This study compared the importance and performance of rehabilitation nursing needs perceived by stroke patients and nurses. METHODS: A total of 275 subjects were divided into two groups. One group was 136 stroke patients and the other was 139 nurses. Data were collected with the Rehabilitation Nursing Service Inventory. The data were analyzed by t-test and ANOVA using the SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. RESULTS: The degree of importance and performance in rehabilitation nursing needs perceived by the stroke patients were 3.69±0.47 and 3.48±0.50, respectively, showing a significant difference (t=21.04, p<.001). The degree of importance and performance perceived by nurses were 3.84±0.42 and 3.60±0.45, respectively, showing a significant difference (t=26.53, p<.001). A significant difference in the degree of importance and performance in rehabilitation nursing needs was also observed between stroke patients and nurses (t=-2.78, p=.006; t=-2.12, p=.035). CONCLUSION: These findings showed that there was a perception gap between stroke patients and nurses. Therefore, it will necessary to identify methods for reducing this perception gap and developing rehabilitation nursing intervention considering the rehabilitation nursing needs of stroke patients.

PURPOSE: This study was to examine the effect of morning stretching on depression and motivation of rehabilitation for stroke patients. METHOD: Design of this study was noneqivalent control pre-test post-test design. Subjects were total 62 patients (Experimental: 30 subjects, Control: 32 subjects) being hospitalized for stroke in a national medical center. Measures were CES-D for depression and PAREMO for motivation of rehabilitation. Data were collected from 1st March to 30th July, 2004. Data have been processed using SPSS/WIN 11.0. RESULTS: The results of this study were as followings: 1) Experimental group was showed lower level of depression than that of control group (t=8.934, P=.000). 2) Experimental group was showed higher motivation of rehabilitation than control group (t=-12.43, P=.000). CONCLUSION: As a result, it was confirmed that morning stretching which was intervened in this study was one of the nursing intervention that lowers the level of depression and promotes motivation of rehabilitation for stroke patients, that helps to improve their psychological and mental problems.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to define the relationships between job stress, professional self-concept, and job satisfaction among nurses in rehabilitation units and to identify factors that influence job satisfaction. METHODS: This study surveyed 240 nurses working at the rehabilitation units of 10 hospitals located in G City. To collect the data, nurses' job stress, the professional self-concept of nurses instrument (PSCNI), and the Korean-Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire (K-MSQ) were used. The data were analyzed through t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression using the SPSS/WIN 18.0 program. RESULTS: The scores for job stress, professional self-concept, and job satisfaction were 3.34+/-0.61, 72.36+/-8.64 and 3.17+/-0.39, respectively. Job satisfaction and job stress showed a low-level negative correlation with statistical significance (r=-.13, p=.042), whereas a medium-level positive correlation was found between job satisfaction and professional self-concept (r=.46, p<.001). Job stress, professional self-concept, total career length and size of working hospital explained approximately 25.8% of job satisfaction (F=17.52, p<.001). CONCLUSION: Considering the results in this study, it is necessary to develop a practical educational program to establish positive professional self-concept for nurses in rehabilitation units. Such efforts must be supported by clinical nursing administrations through policies aimed at reducing job stress and increasing job satisfaction.

PURPOSE: to test of the reliability and validity of the Disabled's Motivation for Rehabilitation Scale. which was developed in 2002. METHOD: An experimental version of the scale was distributed to a sample of 441 disabled with ages above 18 and below 80 years. The subjects of the test-retest were 60 disabled. RESULTS: revealed a satisfactory level of test-retest and internal consistency. The overall fit of the factor model to the data was good. Correlation among the subscales revealed a simple pattern that, in general. provides support for the self- determination continuum and the construct validity. In testing concurrent, criterion-validity, there was a positive correlation between the motivation scores for rehabilitation and the Health-Related Hardiness scores and a negative correlation between the motivation scores for rehabilitation and the Learned Helplessness scores. CONCLUSION: The Disabled's Motivation for Rehabilitation Scale revealed a useful instrument with a high degree of reliability and validity. In this sense, this instrument can be effectively utilized in rehabilitative nursing for the disabled.
