OBJECTIVE:
To analyze the rules of acupoint selection in the acupuncture treatment of cervical spondylotic radiculopathy by data mining.
METHODS:
The randomized controlled trials (RCTs) regarding acupuncture for cervical spondylotic radiculopathy published from July 15 of 2009 to July 15 of 2019 were retrieved from databases of CNKI, VIP, Wanfang, SinoMed, PubMed and EMbase. A database was established with Microsoft Excel 2016. The frequency and total effective rate of high-frequency acupoints, meridians and acupoint combinations were analyzed, and the association rules of acupoints and meridians were analyzed by Apriori algorithm.
RESULTS:
A total of 87 RCTs were included, involving 104 acupoints with a total frequency of 921. Among them, the high-frequency acupoints were cervical Jiaji (EX-B 2, 87 times), Fengchi (GB 20, 70 times), Houxi (SI 3, 54 times), etc. The frequently-used acupoints were mainly distributed in the hand
CONCLUSION
It is feasible to explore the acupoint selection and compatibility rules of acupuncture for cervical spondylotic radiculopathy by data mining. This study could provide corresponding reference for clinical treatment.

With the effects of activating blood and resolving stasis, and moving Qi to relieve pain, Jingtong Granules is widely used in the treatment of cervical radiculopathy in China. Long-term clinical application and related evidence have shown that the prescription has ideal effect in alleviating the pain in neck, shoulder, and upper limbs, stiffness or scurrying numbness, and scurrying pain caused by this disease. However, there is a lack of consensus on the clinical application of Jingtong Granules. Therefore, clinical first-line experts and methodology experts from all over the country were invited to compile this expert consensus. This expert consensus is expected to guide clinicians to use Jingtong Granules in a standardized and reasonable way, improve clinical efficacy, reduce medication risks, and benefit patients. First, according to the clinical experience of experts and the standard development procedures, the indications, syndrome characteristics, clinical advantages, and possible adverse reactions of Jingtong Granules were summarized. Then, through face-to-face interview of clinical doctors in traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine and survey of the clinical application, the clinical problems were summed up, and the consensus was reached with the nominal group method to form the final clinical problems. Third, evidence retrieval was carried out for the clinical problems, and relevant evidence was evaluated. The GRADE system was employed to rate the quality of evidence. Fourth, 5 recommendation items and 3 consensuses items were summarized with the nominal group method. Opinions and peer reviews on the consensus content were solicited through expert meetings and letter reviews. The final consensus includes the summary of evidence on the clinical indications, effectiveness, and safety of Jingtong Granules, which can serve as a reference for clinicians in hospitals and primary health institutions.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the therapeutic effects of acupotomy-injection with FENG Tian-you spinal manipulation (FSM) for treating cervical spondylotic radiculopathy (CSR).
METHODSSeventy-two patients with CSR were randomly divided into two groups (n = 36 respectively): treatment and control group. The patients in treatment group were treated with acupotomy-injection combined with FSM, and patients in control group were treated with traction. All the patients were followed up for 3 months after treatment and the therapeutic effects were evaluated.
RESULTSTotally there were 72 patients and 69 completed the treatment and the other 3 patients withdraw from treatment. In treatment group, 24 patients were cured, 6 patients had remarkable effects, 4 effective and 2 ineffective; as well in control group, above data were 15, 3, 10 and 8 respectively. The comprehensive effects and the cured patients in the treatment group were obviously better than those of control group (P < 0.05). The comparison of scales for assessment of symptoms and short-form McGill Pain Questionaire before and after treatment in two groups had significant differences (P < 0.001).
CONCLUSIONThe method of acupotomy-injection combined with FSM for treating CSR is better than conventional traction method.

Chinese Acupuncture & Moxibustion 2013;33(5):407-410
OBJECTIVETo compare the efficacy differences among electroacupuncture with penetration needling method, Jiaji electroacupuncture and Jing fukang granule for cervical spondylotic radiculopathy (CSR) and to explore the best therapeutic method.
METHODSOne hundred and sixty patients with CSR were randomly divided into 3 groups. Sixty patients in electroacupuncture with penetration needling method group (group A) were treated by electroacupuncture with penetration needling method, and C4 Jiaji-to-C7 Jiaji, Jianwaishu (SI 14)-to-Quyuan (SI 13), Tianzong (SI 11)-to-Naoshu (SI 10), Shousanli (LI 10)-to-Xialian (LI 8) were selected, once a day. Sixty patients in Jiaji electroacupuncture group (group B) were treated by Jiaji electroacupuncture at C4 Jiaji-to-C7 Jiaji, once a day. Fourty patients in Jing fukang granule group (group C) were treated by oral administration of Jing fukang granule, 1 bag each time, twice each day. Six days as a course, the 3 groups were all treated for two courses. The simplified MPQ (SF-MPQ) scale which was internationally accepted was adopt to evaluate the improving situations in pain.
RESULTSAfter treatment, pain rating idex (PRI), visual analogue scale (VAS), present pain intensity (PPI) and the total pain score were significantly improved in the group A and B compared with those before treatment (all P < 0.01), which was also improved in the group C (all P < 0.05). Compared with the group C, all the scores were significantly improved in the group A (all P < 0.01), the improvement of PRI, VAS, PPI and total pain score in the group B was superior to those in the group C (all P < 0.05), and all the improvements in the group A were superior to those in the group B (P < 0.05, P < 0.01).
CONCLUSIONElectroacupuncture with penetration needling method can relive pain rapaidly in patients with CSR, which is superior to Jiaji electroacupuncture and Jing fukang granule in improving the comprehensive pain scores.
