1.Traditional Medicine in the treatment of headache
Journal Reasearch of Vietnam Traditional Medicine and Pharmacy 2003;0(11):8-13
According to the traditional medicine, headache was due to exopathy or internal injury. Hereafter was the treatment of headache based on the differential diagnosis: Headache (H) due to wind-cold pathogen, treatment is relieving the exterior syndrome with drugs pungent in flavor and warm in property, expelling wind and cold pathogens; H due to pathogenic wind-heat, treament is relieving the exterior syndrome with drugs pungent in flavor and cool in property, expelling wind and clearing away heat; H due to pathogenic wind-dampness, treatment is dispersing pathogenic wind, resolving dampness. H due to hyperactivity of the liver-yang, treatment is calming the liver, suppressing yang hyperactivity of the liver. H due to phlegm-dampness, treatment is resolving phlegm; H due to the kidney-yin (or-yang) deficiency, treatment is nourishing yin (or yang) and supplenenting the kidney; H due to deficiency of qi, treatment is reinforcing the spleen to replenish qi; H due to deficiency of blood, treatment is nourishing the blood, alleviating pain; H due to blood stasis, treatment is removing blood stasis to promote blood circulation, alleviating pain. The diagnosis and treatment of the three forms of migraine were also reported

2.Evaluation on the efects of Livcol in patients with chronic hepatitis B
Journal Reasearch of Vietnam Traditional Medicine and Pharmacy 2005;0(14):6-9
The study aimed to analyse the effects of Livcol, a herbal medication, on chronic hepatitis B. The patients were divided into two groups: the study group using Livcol, the control group using Fortec for 1 months. Results: Almost clinical menifestations reduced or disappeared, transaminase level was lowered equally in both groups with statistic significance. There was 1 case of seroconversion of HBeAg seen in both group. Livcol showed no adverse effects in this trial

3.The cerebral protective effect of a medicinal formulation in mice with ischemic/reperfusion induced brain injuries
Journal Reasearch of Vietnam Traditional Medicine and Pharmacy 2005;0(14):16-21
An animal model to initiate anl oxidative stress in brain has been successfully applied in vitro condition. Temporary brain ischemia is conducted by two carotid arterie occlusion for 20 min. Then a reperfusion is followed for 20 min. aiming to produce oxidative damage. MDA measurements are used to assess the levels of brain damage and protective effects of studied extracts. One formulation for "activating the blood and clearing the obstruction" has been tested for the protective activity against the ischemia/repelfusion-induced injuries to brain. The extract was given to mice in doses of 200, 300 and 500mg/kg for 10 continuous days prior to the induction of brain ischemia. This application showed a remarkable protective effects by limiting the elevated MDA levels in brain homogenates, resulted from ischemia/reperfusion (P<0.001). Corresponding to the increased oxidative stress in ischemia/reperfusion, SOD activity (an antioxidant enzyme) was found to be reduced in this model, while the studied extract almostly reversed the decrease of SOD activity when it was given to mice in the dose of 500 mg/kg body weight

4.The indispensability, objectiveness and science of the integration of modern and traditional medicines
Journal Reasearch of Vietnam Traditional Medicine and Pharmacy 2005;15():2-8
Having the common objectives is human being – health, modern medicine should coordinate with traditional medicines in order to promote ability of medicines in protecting people’s health. Combination of these two major medicines is the high step of inheritance process, as it is necessary to select the quintessence, good features and to reject the backwardness, superstition and harmfulness to human being. This combination process happens naturally, popularly in society and medicine. This is an appropriate, stable development and it will be seen as a right choice in the future
