[Objective]To investigate the expression of collagen type I and III at mRNA and protein level in the ligamentum teres of developmental dislocation of the hip(DDH) and the normal hip. [Method]There were 6 pairs joint laxity of patients of DDH group and normal control group with paired control of same sex and age.Semiquantity RT-PCR method was used to detect the COLlal and COL3al in the ligamentum teres at mRNA level. Western-Blot method was used to detect the COLlal and COL3al in the ligamentum teres at protein level. The quantitative analysis of the COLlal and COL3al were performed by professional image software and the results were analyzed with standard statistical methods.[Result]At both mRNA and protein level COLlal expression were decreased in the DDH group compared to the control group(P0.05).[Conclusion]The decreased collagen I expression at mRNA and protein level in the ligamentum teres of the children with DDH may lead to hip joint laxity.Hip joint laxity in DDH may be independent to the content of collagen III.
3.Ultrasonic Features of Wilms′ Tumor in Children
Journal of Applied Clinical Pediatrics 2004;0(07):-
Objective To study the ultrasonographic characteristics of Wilms′tumor (WT), aims at elevating the diagnostic level. Methods We retrospectively studied sonographic features in 30 cases of WT proved by operation and pathology. Results The tumors with heterogeneous pattern of solid and cystic tissue were shown in 22 cases.Seven cases demonstrate predominantly echogenic tumor. A huge cystic mass with numerous septas was shown in 1 case. The tumor extended into renal pelvis in 4, into renal vine in 1.The tumor metastasized to lymphnod in 1, to bilateral lungs in 1. Among 30 cases, the tumor was huge and grew beyond the renal profile in 26 cases, in 3 cases the tumors took up the renal sinus and made its structure turbulence, the renal shape was approximately normal. One case was extrarenal WT,the tumor located in retroperitonemu. Conclusions Sonographically, typical WT is a large heterogeneous mass within or without cystic areas, it also can be a pure cyst. It is easy to diagnose. When the tumor is limited to renal outline, it is easy to confusion with renal cancer. In addition, there are bilateral WT and extrarenal WT. The sonographic characteristics is similar among WT, clear cell sarcoma of kidney, malignant rhabdoid tumor and congenital mesoblastic nephroma. It is difficult to distinguish them from ultrasonography.

Objective To explore the clinical significances of leukocyte (WBC ) ,C‐reactive protein (CRP ) and procalcitonin (PCT) in early diagnosis of bacterial bloodstream infections (BSI) ,in order to provide references for early diagnosis of BSI . Methods The detection results of WBC ,PCT and CRP from 48 cases of patients with positive blood culture(positive blood culture group) and 50 cases of patients with negative blood culture(negative blood culture group) were retrospectively analysed .Then com‐pared the detection results between the two groups ,and between patients with gram‐positive bacteria infection and those with gram‐negative bacteria infection in the positive blood culture group .The diagnostic performance of WBC ,PCT and CRP were determined by drawing the receiver operator characteristic(ROC) curves ,and areas under ROC curves(ACUs) were calculated .The perform‐ance of the three indicators in predicting BSI were evaluated by using the binary logistic regression analysis .Results The levels of PCT and CRP in positive blood culture group was significantly higher than those in negative blood culture group ,had statistically significant differences(P<0 .05) ,while no statistically significant difference was found in WBC count between the two groups(P>0 .05) .In the positive blood culture group ,statistically significant difference was only found in PCT level between patients with gram‐positive bacteria infection and patients with gram‐negative bacteria infection(P<0 .05) .The AUCs of WBC ,PCT and CRP were 0 .579 ,0 .746 and 0 .624 ,respectively .The result of the binary logistic regression analysis showed that only PCT made a unique statistically significant contribution to the model(P=0 .013) for predictive diagnosis of BSI .And the positive predictive rate of joint detection of these three indicators was 71 .4% .Conclusion WBC ,PCT and CRP could be indicators for early diagnosis of BSI ,while PCT and CRP might have much more important significance ,moreover ,PCT could distinguish between gram‐positive bacterial in‐fection and gram‐negative bacteria infection .
8.Effect of triiodothy ronine on neurogenesis in subventricular zone after bilateral common carotid artery occlusion in adult rats
International Journal of Cerebrovascular Diseases 2011;19(8):589-592
Objective To investigate the effect of triiodothyronine (T3) on neurogenesis in after bilateral common carotid artery occlusion in adult rats. Methods Fifteen adult male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were randomly divided into sham operation, 2-vessel occlusion (2VO) and T3 intervention groups (n = 5 in each group ). A chronic cerebral ischemia model was established by the bilateral common carotid artery permanent ligation. Seven days after modeling 5-bromo-2'-deoxyuridine (BrdU) was injectied intraperitoneally and the new proliferating cells were labeled. The BrdU positive cells in SVZ were observed using immunofluorescence staining. Results The numbers of BrdU positive cells in the sham operation, 2VO, and T3 intervention groups were 174. 8 ± 18. 5, 325.0 ± 51.0, and 499. 4 ± 30. 8, respectively. There were significant differences among all the groups (F = 101.68, P < 0. 001 ). The numbers of BrdU positive cells in the T3 intervention group were significantly higher than those in the 2VO and sham operation groups (all P <0. 001 ). The numbers of BrdU positive cells in the 2VO group were also significantly higher than those in the sham operation group (p <0. 001). Conclusions Thyroid hormones may promote neural progenitor cell proliferation in SVZ in adult 2VO rats.

Chinese Journal of Orthopaedics 2010;30(4):325-329
Objective To measure the vertebral rotational centers in sagittal and transverse plane. These data may be quite valuable for the design of artificial disc. Methods Ten healthy volunteers of 40-60 years old were recruited under IRB approval and informed consent. Three-dimension lumbar spine models of L_2, L_3 and L_4 were reconstructed from MR scans. Spine motions were then reproduced using combined dual fluoroscopic imaging system (DFIS) and MR scan technique during flexion-extension and left-right twisting of the body. Based on the geometrical features of the vertebrae, ranges of motion (ROM) of 3 representative lo-cations were measured from anterior to posterior, the vertebral body center, the spinal cord canal center and the spinous process tip. Rotational centers of the vertebral segments were then located by calculating the point of zero ROM. Results Motion patterns: The ROMs of L_2 with respect to L_3 (L_(2,3)) and L_(3,4) increased pro-portionally from anterior to posterior locations. During flexion-extension motion, the vertebral body center moved within a range of 0.6 mm, while the spinous process tip moved within 7.5 mm in the sagittal plane. During left-right twisting, the vertebral body center moved within 1.0 mm, while the tip moved within 1.6 mm in the transverse plane. No statistical differences were found in the ROMs between L_(2,3) and L_(3,4). Rotational centers: the rotational centers of flexion-extension in sagittal plane for both L_(2,3) and L_(3,4) segments were located at posterior one-third of the vertebral body. The rotational centers of both L_(2,3) and L_(3,4) segments were located approximately 30 mm anterior to the front edge of the vertebral body. Conclusion The anterior portion of the vertebrae was found to have smaller ROM than the posterior portion. The vertebra rotates with the center of rotation located at approximately the posterior one-third of the vertebral body in sagittal plane. However, the vertebra rotates in transverse plane with respect to a point about 30 mm in front of the vertebra. The data indicated that the different portions of the vertebra have distinct motion characters during different motions.
