Objective To investigate the effects of recombinant human growth hormone (rhGH) on tumor growth and tumor angiogenesis factor relevant to Janus kinase 2-signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 of human gastric carcinoma xenografts in nude mice with different expressions of growth hormone receptor (GHR).Methods Immunocytochemical method was used to pick out one GHR-positive and one GHR-negative cell line. The cells were subcutaneously injected into 26 nude mice separately, then the patterns of xenografts in nude mice with different expressions of GHR were established. The nude mice bearing two different kinds of human gastric caicinoma were equally randomized into control group, low-dose rhGH group, and high-dose rhGH group, and were treated with drugs for 14 days. Changes of tumor volumes and body weight of nude mice were record. The protein and mRN A expressions of tumor angiogenesis factor in tumor tissue were detected by RT-PCR and Western blot, respectively. Results GHR was highly expressed in SGC-7901 celk but negative in MKN-45 cells. For nude mice bearing GHR+ SGC-7901 xenografts, the tumor volumes were significantly larger in low-dose rhGH group [(1. 141 ±0. 234) cm3] and high-dose rhGH group [(2. 106 ±0. 260) cm3] than in control group [(0.612±0. 156) cm3] (P = 0. 034, P = 0. 001), and the high-dose rhGH group revealed greater effect (P =0. 043 ). Body weight was not significantly different among three groups. Compared with the control group, the mRNA expressions of tumor angiogenesis factor were significantly increased in low-does rhGH group, and the P values of GHR, Janus kinase 2, signal transducer and activator of transcription 3, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α), fibroblast growth factor, and matrix metalloproteinases-2 (MMP-2) was 0.001, 0.011, 0.042, 0.045, 0.040, 0.002, and 0.003, respectively; however, the high-does rhGH group did not show the greater effects. The protein expressions were significantly increased in low-does rhGH group, and the P value of phosphorylation-signal transducer and activator of transcription 3, signal transducer and activator of transcription 3, VEGF, HIF-1α, and MMP-2 was 0. 015, 0.003, 0.010, 0.008,and 0. 005, respectively; furthermore, the high-does group revealed the further greater effects, and the P value of VEGF, HIF-1α, and MMP-2 was 0.012, 0.025, and 0.046, respectively. On the contrary, for nude mice bearing GHR- MKN-45 xenografts, the body weights of low-dose rhGH group [(24.94 ±0. 517) g] and high-dose rhGH group [(26.97 ±0.686) g] were significantly higher than that of control group [(22.78 ±0.418) g] (P =0. 040, P = 0.012 ) , while tumor growth as well as the expressions of mRNA and protein of tumor angiogenesis factor in tumor tissue were not significantly different Conclusions rhGH can promote tumor growth and up-regulate the expression of tumor angiogenesis factor in the GHR-highly-expressed SGC-7901 xenograft tumor model; However, such effects do not exist in GHR-negatively-expressed MKN-45 xenograft tumor model. The existence of GHR may be a key target by which rhGH influences the tumor growth and the expressions of tumor angiogenesis factor, which is probably achieved through Janus kinase 2-signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 activation.

AIM:To study the human brain hemodynamics responses induced by acupuncturing foot shaoyang gallbladder meridian point GB37 and visual stimulation, and to analyze the effect of acupuncture to activate the cerebral functional area in visual stimulus. METHODS:Twenty five normal subjects were divided into two groups:15 subjects for electro -acupuncture GB37 in visual stimulus group and 10 subjects for electro-acupuncture GB37 groups. The blood oxygen level dependent functional magnetic resonance imaging (BOLD-fMRI) was carried out under the condition of two dif-ferent stimulation patterns (including a vision stimulation task and point GB37 acupuncture under the vision stimulation condition). A scintillating chessboard grid was applied as the vision stimulation task and the frequency was 8 Hz. The activation of cerebral functional areas of tested people under the conditions of the vision stimulation task and acupuncture were analyzed, respectively. RESULTS:Out of 15 subjects of electro -acupuncture GB37 in visual stimulus groups, twelve health volunteers were enrolled. When the vision stimulation task was carried out,the alarge area of brainstem and posterior lobe of cerebellum was seen to be activated. The areas of limbic lobe, hippocampus, middle temporal gyrus and inferior temporal gyrus were also activated. Under the condition of acupuncture only, the areas of posterior central gyrus, inferior parietal lobule, parietal lobe precuneus and the middle frontal gyrus were activated. When doublesided points of gallbladder meridian of foot-shao-yang were electroacupunctured under the visual stimulus status, the areas of superior frontal gyrus, inferior frontal gyrus, parietal precuneus and occipital gyrus lingualis were activated. CONCLUSION:The functional MRI shows the activation of cerebral functional area after acupuncture. Visual stimulus causes significant changes of brain conduction path connection. Under the visual stimulus status, the acupuncture to the points of gallbladder meridian of foot -shao -yang,GB37 has an extent of influence to conduction path conformity of the vision system and with the treat-ment of ophthalmocace. Furthermore, the external stimulation has prominent influence to the acupuncture therapy possibly.

OBJECTIVETo compare the clinical effects between hip anterior S-P approach combined with iliac bone flap transplantation with deep circumflex iliac artery and posterior K-L approach combined with quadratus femoris bone flap transplantation for the treatment of femoral neck fracture of Garden III-IV in young and middle-aged patients.
METHODSFrom January 2004 to January 2011,46 patients with femoral neck fractures were treated by two kinds of operation. Among them, 20 cases were treated with anterior S-P approach combined with iliac bone flap transplantation with deep circumflex iliac artery, included 12 males and 8 females with an average age of (32.1 ± 7.3) years old, involved 12 cases of Garden III and 8 cases of Garden IV. The other 26 cases were treated with posterior K-L approach combined with quadratus femoris bone flap transplantation, included 20 males and 6 females with an average age of (37.8 ± 6.9) years old, involved 16 cases of Garden III and 10 cases of Garden IV. The index of hospitalization (hospitalization time, total cost, operative time, intraoperative blood loss, postoperative complications), the quality index of operation (fracture reduction, position of internal fixation, fracture healing time, nonunion and femoral head necrosis) of two groups were observed and compared. Hip joint function were evaluated by Harris score.
RESULTSAll patients were followed up from 28 to 41 months with an average of 36 months. The intraoperative blood loss of group S-P (92.3 ± 10.4) ml was less than that of group K-L (132.4 ± 11.2) ml, there was significant difference between two groups (P < 0.05). The operation time of group S-P (81.4 ± 9.2) min was more than that of group K-L (67.1 ± 4.5) min, the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). One case in group S-P and 9 cases in group K-L appeared postoperative complications, there was significant difference between two groups (P < 0.05). The fracture healing time of S-P group (83.5 ± 7.3) d was shorter than that of group K-L (103.2 ± 12.6) d, there was significant difference between two groups (P < 0.05). At 30 months after operation, there were significant difference in Harris scoring between two groups (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONAnterior S-P approach combined with iliac bone flap transplantation with deep circumflex iliac artery for treatment of femoral neck fracture of Garden III-IV of young and middle-aged patients, it has characteristics in clear anatomic and easy to operate. As compared with K-L approach, S-P approach can better reserve residual blood supply of femoral neck. While combining with the iliac bone flap transplantation with deep circumflex iliac artery, it could better reconstruct the blood supply of femoral neck to promote fracture healing.

OBJECTIVETo research the clinical application of lower cervical pedicle screw fixation procedure.
METHODSFrom September 2011 to July 2013,32 patients underwent posterior pedicle screw-rod system fixation were retrospective analyzed includinig 20 males and 12 females with an average age of 56.4 years old ranging from 21 to 78 years. Among them, 10 patients were traumatic cervical spinal injury, 9 patients were cervical spinal canal tumors, 7 cases were posterior longitudinal ligament ossification of cervical vertebrae, 6 cases were multiple segmental cervical spondylopathy. Preoperatively, X-ray, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging and magnetic resonance angiography of the vertebral artery were performed in all patients. After the operation and during the follow-up,X-ray and computed tomography were performed to confirm the pedicle screw position. The accuracy of the pedicle screw placement was evaluated by 4 grades classification from Lee. The spinal cord function was assessed by ASIA impairment scale for traumatic patients and JOA score for non traumatic patients.
RESULTSTotally 144 pedicle screws performed on 32 patients from C3 to C7 involving 132 screws of grade 0,5 screws of grade 1,5 of screws grade 2 and 2 screws of grade 3 according to postoperative CT. There were 12 screws penetrating the pedicle cortex including 8 screws at lateral,2 screws at caudal, 1 screw at medial and 1 screw at cranial. The follow-up time was 12 to 33 months with an average of (21.0±1.5) months. The spinal cord function was not improved in 6 complete cervical spinal cord injury patients, but their paraplegic level descended 1 to 3 segments. Four incomplete cervical spinal cord injury patients' ASIA impairment scale was increased by 1 to 2 grades in average. The JOA score of 22 atraumatic patients increased from preoperative 11.5±0.8 to 15.9±0.6 of postoperative at 6 months (P<0.01). There were no screw loosening, screw pullout and screw-rod breakage.
CONCLUSIONThe lower cervical pedicle screw fixation can provide excellent 3D stability of the vertebral column. The operation risk and Complication could be minimized by adequate preoperative evaluation for appropriate cases and individual pedicle screw placement. It deserved the clinical expansion.
