AlM: To investigate expressions of matrix metalloproteinase-2 ( MMP-2 ) and extracellular matrix metalloproteinase inducer ( EMMPRlN) in retinoblastoma (Rb) and the relationships between MMP-2, EMMPRlN and tumor development.METHODS:lmmunohistochemical technique was used to detect expressions of MMP-2 and EMMPRlN in 39 cases of paraffin embedded Rb samples. Quantitative analysis of expressions of MMP-2 and EMMPRlN were assessed by measuring the mean gray scale of Rb tissue with LElCA lM50 Color Pathologic Analysis System. The differences of expressions of MMP-2 and EMMPRlN in each clinical and pathological stage were statistically analyzed, and the same step was also undertaken to study the relationship between Rb with MMP-2 positive expression and that with EMMPRlN positive expression.RESULTS:The positive expression rate of MMP-2 was 90% (Gray value: 109. 64 ± 14. 52; 35/39), and that of EMMPRlN was 85% (Gray value:108. 01±13. 60;33/39). The expressions of MMP - 2 and EMMPRlN were significantly higher in tumors of glaucomatous stage (Gray value:108. 21±11. 47 and 107. 56±14. 32) than those in intraocular stage ( Gray value: 121. 13 ± 11. 32 and 119. 34 ± 12. 66; P<0. 01 and P<0. 05). And the same conclusion can be concluded between those in extraocular stage (Gray value: 91. 03 ± 11. 71 and 92. 26 ± 12. 93) with those in glaucomatous stage (P<0. 01 and P<0. 05). The expressions of MMP-2 and EMMPRlN were significantly higher in tumors with optic nerve invasion (Gray value:103. 89±13. 39 and 105. 23±14. 00) than those without optic nerve invasion ( Gray value: 118. 39 ± 15. 11 and 117. 53±16. 13) (P<0. 01 and P<0. 05).CONCLUSlON:The positive expression levels of MMP-2 and EMMPRlN may correlate with tumor infiltration and metastasis.

The role of autophagy is known to be highly complex and context-dependent, and may be characterized as both tumor suppression and tumor promotion in some tumors, such as breast cancer and prostate cancer. This review outlines recent advances in the studies of the involvement of autophagy in the development, progression and treatment of prostate cancer, focusing on autophagy modulation during androgen deprivation, with a special discussion on the regulatory effect of androgens on the autophagy of prostate cancer cells. A critical evaluation and analysis of the studies suggests that autophagy inhibition combined with androgen deprivation therapy is a promising approach to the treatment of prostate cancer.

Objective To explore the efficacy, safety and life quality of patients of morphine hydrochloride sustained-release tablets combined with celecoxib in the treatment of advanced lung cancer with moderate to severe cancer-induced pain. Methods A total of 247 patients of advanced lung cancer with moderate to severe cancer-induced pain were randomly divided into combination therapy group (n =127) and morphine monotherapy group (n =120) using simple random sampling digital table method. The differences of dose, efficacy, adverse drug reactions and life quality between the two groups were analyzed. Results In achieving similar analgesic effect, the average maintenance dose of morphine in combination therapy group was (52.51 ±19.92)mg/d,lower than that in monotherapy group [(58.75 ±20.64)mg/d,t =-2.414,P =0.017].The incidence of constipation in combination therapy group was 34.6%,lower than that in monotherapy treatment group (47.5 %,x2 =4.218,P =0.040).The life quality of the two groups were improved, and the life quality improvement rate in combination therapy group was 59.8%,higher than that in monotherapy treatment group (43.3%,x2 =6.736,P =0.009).Conclusion Morphine hydrochloride sustained-release tablets combined with celecoxib is effective in the treatment of moderate to severe cancer pain, which can reduce the dosage of morphine and reduce adverse reaction,so as to improve the life quality of the patients with advanced lung cancer.

To explore the expression potential of heterogeneous genes using the backbone of infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) Beaudette strain, the ectodomain region of the Spike gene (1,302 bp) of IBV H120 strain was amplified by RT-PCR and replaced into the corresponding location of the IBV Beaudette strain full-length cDNA. This recombinant was designated as BeauR-H120(S1). BeauR-H120(S1) was directly used as the DNA template for the transcription of viral genomic RNA in vitro. Then, the transcription product was transfected into Vero cells by electroporation. At 48 h post-transfection, the transfected Vero cells were harvested, and passaging continued. A syncytium was not observed until the recombinant virus had passed through four passages. The presence of rBeau-H120(S1) was verified by the detection of the replaced ectodomain region of the H120 Spike gene using RT-PCR. Western blot analysis of rBeau-H120 (S1)-infected Vero cell lysates demonstrated that the nucleocapsid (N) protein was expressed, which implied that rBeau-H120(S1) could propagate in Vero cells. The TCIDs0 and EIDs0 data demonstrated that the titer levels of rBeau-H120(S1) reached 10(590+/-0.22)TCID50/mL and 10(6.13+/-0.23)EID50/mL in Vero cells and 9-day-old SPF chicken embryos, respectively. Protection studies showed that the percentage of antibody-positive chickens, which were vaccinated with rBeau-H120(S1) at 7 days after hatching, rose to 90% at 21 days post-inoculation. Inoculation provided an 85% rate of immune protection against a challenge of the virulent IBV M41 strain (103EID50/chicken). This recombinant virus constructed using reverse genetic techniques could be further developed as a novel genetic engineering vaccine against infectious bronchitis.

Aim The therapeutic effect of "shen-bing NQ 5", a preparation of traditional Chi-nese medicine on adenine-induced chronic nephritis in rats was studied. MethodsChronic nephritis in rats was induced by giving adenine 80 mg?kg-1?d-1 orally. Themodel rats were treated by "shen-bing No 5" in different dosages. Levels of urea ni-trogen(BUN), creatinine (Cr), total protein(TP), and Na+ in serum and or urine weredetected and the changes of kidney were obseraed. Results The "shen-bing No 5"markedly lowered the levels of urine protein in 24 hours, BUN in urine and BUN, Na+in serum (P
