Objective To study the factors that limited the microsurgical total resection on meningiomas of tentorium and confluence of sinuses Methods Twenty three cases of meningiomas on tentorium and confluence of sinuses,which were removed by application of microsurgery from 1983 to 2001,were analysed retrospectly and reviewed. Results In all 23 cases,tumors in 17 cases were removed totally,and 6 cases were removed subtotally In the 6 cases whose tumors were resected subtotally,there were 4 cases related with major sinus and its venous flow uncompleted compensation, 2 cases related with adhering compactly to the brain stem invaded by tumors,major vessels or cranial nerves Conclusions Heading factors restricting microsurgical total resection of menigiomas on tentorium and confluence of sinuses may be related with major sinus invaded by tumor and its venous flow uncompleted compensation, tumors adhering compactly to the brain stem,major vessels or cranial nerves

Praziquantel ( PQT ) concentrations in plasma after iv 20 mg/kg decayed rapidly with tip of 0.36 h. The absorption of PQT was rapid following the intramuscular doses of 10,20,40mg/kg or intragastic dose of 100mg/kg, but the phase of elimination was much longer than that after iv. Both of MAT1m and MATig were greater than MRTiv. The bioavailability of ig was 13.2%, suggesting a strong first-pass effect. The kinetics of PQT elimination was linear after intramuscular dose of either 10 or 20 mg/kg, but nonlinear process was found when the dose was increased to 40mg/kg.By any route of iv, im and ig administration, the concentrations of PQT in the bile were much lower than the peripheral plasma concentrations and changed in parallel to the later with high levels after iv, medium levels after im and much low levels after ig.

Objective To discuss the methods of primarily repairing scalp,skull and dura defects of separated type D craniopagus Methods The huge defects in craniopagus was primarily repaired by the application of scalp expander, transferring scalp flap, repairing dura with pedicle periosteums, repairing skull defects with Titanium plates Results The survival baby has a good sharp of skull and well healing of scalp postoperatively Conclusions Defects of separated type D craniopagus can be primarily repaired

Objective To evaluate the effect of mining waste water on drinking water quality and tumor mortality of villagers. Methods Analyse quality of drinking water sampled from well which only supply water to a family which the well belongs to and survey the death reasons of whole population in the polluted area and the control area. Results Mining waste water discharged by a mine contaminated the nearby river and impacted the drinking water quality of the nearby village also. Compared with the control, the concentration of lead, arsenic and mercury in drinking water of polluted area was much higher. The 5,year total mortality in polluted area and in the control was 3.09% and 1.55% respectively. Tumor mortality in polluted area was 50%, esophagus cancer mortality was 54.24%. Tumor mortality in the control area was 20% only and most tumors were liver cancer. Conclusion The adverse effect of mining waste water on drinking water quality and human health in polluted area has been seen.

Objective To evaluate the enhancing effect of MRI with Gd DTPA F(ab)′ 2 in nude mice models with LS 174T tumor, and to investigate the influence of Gd labeling on the immunocompetence of the fragments (ab)′2 of CL 3. Methods (1)Antibodies and tumor models preparation: Monoclonal antibodies (McAb) fragment F(ab)′ 2 against LS 174T colonic adenocarcinoma cell were prepared with hybridoma cell CL 3. Twenty BALB/C nude mice were used as tumor models by subcutaneous injection of LS 174T cells. (2)Gd 3+ Labelling: DTPA anhydride and F(ab)′ 2 fragments were conjugated. Two groups were classified: group A, with C/P=2∶1; group B, with C/P=5∶1. Then, Gd was added into DTPA F(ab)′ 2 solution. Gd DTPA F(ab)′ 2 was formed. Free Gd 3+ and DTPA were removed by dialysis. Purified Gd DTPA F(ab)′ 2 was available. (3) MR scanning techniques: MRI was performed with a GE Signa Horizon LX MR scanner. The nude mice were immobilized and divided into three groups: routine plain scan group, enhanced scan group A(C/P=2∶1)and group B(C/P=5∶1). Results When pH=8.0 ,[F(ab)′ 2]=4.6 mg/ml, and C/P=2∶1 or C/P=5∶1, immuno conjugated rates of group A and B were 74% and 62%, respectively. Immunocompetence of fragment F(ab)′ 2 reduced approximately 12% when C/P increased from 2∶1 to 5∶1.The enhancing effects of two groups of nude mice were both poor, and that of group B(C/P=5∶1) was better than that of group A(C/P=2∶1). Conclusion While C/P increasing, immunocompetence of fragment F(ab)′ 2 reduced, and the enhancing effects of group B was better than group A. The enhancing effect of Gd DTPA F(ab)′ 2 was tumor specific.

ObjectiveTo observe the treatment effect of seveve acute pancreatitis (SAP) with gabexate combined with Xuebijing after local infusion. MethodsForty-four patients with SAP were randomly divided into receiving intravenous gabexate or Xuebijing alone (control group) group and receiving local infusion with gabexate combined with Xuebijing( experimental group) group. At 1,7,14 days of testing in diamine oxidase (DAO), lipopolysaccharide, IL-18, TNF-α, APACHE- Ⅱ score, T lymphocyte subpopulation and monocyte HLA-DR expression and single change in the number of nuclear cells were tested. ResultsBetween two patients groups at 1,7,14 days diamine oxidase, lipopolysaccharide, IL-18, TNF-α, APACHE-Ⅱ score showed a downward trend; T suppressor cells (Ts) reduced in their percentage; total T lymphocytes, T helper cell (Th), monocyte HLA-DR expression (percentage) and mononuclear cells showed an upward trend in the experimental group than control group, the differences being statistically significant (P ＜ 0.05). In the experimental group and control group, the pain relief time, intestinal function recovery time, the withdrawal of ventilator time, the incidence of sepsis, the rate of conversion to open surgery were statistically significant different (P ＜ 0.05 ). Conclusions Compared with intravenous drug use alone the implementation of gabexate combined with Xuebijing local infusion can reduce the early course of SAP patients intestinal permeability and reduce endotoxin translocation, protect intestinal barrier function of patients with SAP, improve the patients' immune function, symptoms, signs and reduce the rate of sepsis and transit operations.

Objective To investigate the role of mitochondrial respiratory chain (MRC) in induction of reactive oxygen species (ROS) by hyperbaric oxygen (HBO).Methods Superoxide anion (O·-2) specific fluorescence probe DHE and mitochondrial O·-2 probe Mito-SOX were used to label ROS in human umbilical vein endothelium cells(HUVEC) microscopically after HBO exposure.Results After HBO exposure, O·-2 increased (31±8)% and (137±19) % in whole cells and in mitochondria, respectively (P<0.01).These increments were suppressed by MRC complex Ⅱ inhibitor TTFA for (55±11)% in whole cells (P<0.05)and (61±8) % in mitochondria(P<0.01).Conclusion MRC may be the main source of ROS induced by HBO in HUVECs.
