This paper is aimed at inquiring the principles of processing Rhizoma zingiberis and the relationship between processing and clinical application. For this purpose, the histories of processing Rhizoma zingiberis recens, Exocarpium zingiberis recens, Rhizoma zingiberis, recens without peel Rhizoma zingiberis the stewed baxed and roasted Rhizoma zingiberis have beensstudied in literatures. The physical and chemical characters of their volatile oils and tissue structures were also compared. As a result, it was observed that the changes in different degree existed in content, phy sical constants and chemical compositions of their volatile oils and tissue structures of different processed products, which would be to prove it reasonable that the prepared pieces of different specifications had different curative effects.

Objective To investigate the imaging feature of hippocampal sclerosis (HS), and evaluate the diagnostic value of double inversion recovery (DIR) sequence at 3.0 T MR for its diagnosis. Methods Twelve patients with unilateral HS proven by pathology and 12 healthy volunteers were enrolled. All patients received DIR, fluid attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR) and T2 TSE sequences scans on oblique coronal plane vertical to the hippocampal axis on a 3.0 T MR scanner. Regions of interest (ROI) were set respectively in ipsilateral and contralateral hippocampi hippocampi in patients with HS, and the bilateral hippocampi in healthy volunteneers were placed respectively. Signal to noise ratio (SNR), contrast to noise ratio (CNR), ratio of signal intensity (RSI) and asymmetry index (AI) of each ROI in all hippocampi were calculated and compared among the three sequences. Statistical analysis was performed with one-way ANOVA. Results On DIR images, ipsilateral hippocampal lesions demonstrated extremely high signal intensity. Relative signal intensity of ipsilateral hippocampal lesions, contralateral hippocampi and the hippocampi in control groups healthy volunteneers were 1.50±0.05, 1.26±0.03, 1.18±0.05 (F=172.609,P=0.000), respectively. SNR of ipsilateral hippocampal lesions on DIR, FLAIR and T2 TSE sequences were 84.13±16.62, 50.90±12.38, 63.25±15.46 (F=15.185,P=0.000), respectively. CNR of hippocampus were 13.72±3.73, 6.67±3.02, 7.33±3.65 (F=14.985,P=0.000), respectively. In HS patients, RSI and AI of the ipsilateral hippocampal lesions and contralateral hippocampi among the three sequences did not show statistically significant difference(P=0.078). Conclusions HS manifests extremely high signal intensity on DIR images. On DIR images, the SNR and CNR of HS were higher than those on conventional MR sequences which provide valuable information for the diagnosis of HS.

Chinese Mental Health Journal 1991;0(02):-
Objective: To investigate the cultural and psychological adaptation of business expatriates in the Chinese mainland. Methods: The questionnaires included sociocultural adaptation questionnaire and psychological adaptation questionnaire. Results: The construct of sociocultural adaptation could be divided into three dimensions: living conditions, interaction and communication, and cognition and value system. The sociocultural adaptation pattern showed a double-U-curve and the psychological adaptation pattern showed a decreasing tendency by time. There was no significant discrepancy in sociocultural adaptation across cultural distance. Conclusion: The cultural and psychological adaptation is difficult for business expatriates in China. The reasons perhaps include insufficient cultural training and improper training time.

Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is a severe respiratory condition that is characterized by rapidly progressive hypoxemia with noncardiogenic pulmonary edema.Despite the improvement of therapeutic methods, the mortality of ARDS is in the range of 40%-50% all over the world. Some studies have shown that a significant number of patients with ARDS had acute cor pulmonale (ACP),and ACP is independently associated with the mortality of patients with ARDS,which has attracted wide attention in recent years. This paper reviewed recent related studies, summarized the prevalence, pathogenesis and diagnostic approaches of ACP in ARDS,especially echocardiography which was considered as a cornerstone for ACP diagnosis, and elucidated the beneficial effects of right ventricular protective ventilatory strategy and prone-positioning on the pulmonary vasculature and right heart,in order to provide a novel idea for the therapy of ACP in ARDS.

Objective To observe the immunosuppression function of a novel HLA-derived peptide, RDP1258, after rat renal transplantation in vivo. Methods Peptides were synthesized by Fmoc chemistry method. The rat renal heterotopic transplantation model (n=32) was established. The allograft rats were divided into 4 group: group A (n=8) receiving subtherapeutic CsA+RDP1258 peptide; group B (n=8) receiving RDP1258 alone; group C (n=8) receiving subtherapeutic CsA alone; and group D (n=8) receiving no immunosuppression. The renal allograft survival days of receptor rats were observed. Serum creatinine was measured and color Doppler flow imaging was checked. Renal tissues were harvested for light microscopic examination. The immunologic tolerance status of rat renal allografts was detected by MLR of 60th day receptor rat spleen cells cultured with the donor spleen cells and the third party. Results The allograft survival time in groups A, B, C and D were ( 63.4?30.6)days, (18.3?7.3)days, (16.9?6.4)days and (9.4?2.6)days, with the difference being significant between group A and other three groups. The results of MLR revealed that a hyporesponsiveness to donor occurred while the normal reaction to the third parity was retained. Conclusion A novel HLA derived peptide therapy combined with a sub-therapeutic dose of CsA significantly prolonged allograft survival days, and the mechanism might be that RDP1258 induced a donor-specific immunologic tolerance status in the recipients.

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and complication of endoscopic dense ligation for bleeding esophageal varices(EV). Methods 128 cases of EV experienced varcies ligation, and 16~22 points(average 18.8 points) of the varices were ligated by using dense ligation, while only 5~6 points were ligated in common ligation (common method) for varices. All patients got one to two times of ligation therapy. Results In dense ligation group, the rate of prompt hemostasis was 96.9%, rate of elimination of EV was 92.2% with one therapy, and 96.9% with twice therapy, while the rate of bleeding was 0.8%. In common method the rates were 95.7%, 42.6%, 64.7% and 7.1% respectively. Between the two groups, the rate of elimination of EV and rebleeding had significant difference (P

Objective To study the effect of embolization of gastric coronary and short veins on the control of hemorrhage from gastric fundal varices. Methods Thirty-two patients with liver cirrhosis and hemorrhage from esophagus and fundal varices, who still had variceal bleeding after endoscopic banding or sclerosing of esophageal varices were included in the study. Gastric coronary and short veins were (embolized) by percutaneous, transhepatic embolization with absolute alcohol, steel ring, or gelfoam. The follow-up of 3 to 11 months was carried out after embolization. Results The follow-up endoscopy showed that the varices of gastric fundus disappeared completely in 21 of 29 patients (72.4%), and (eleminated) partially in 8 patients (27.6%). Only one patient (3.1%) had re-bleeding due to portal (hypertensive) gastropathy in the follow-up period. No obvious complication was found in these patients. Conclusions The varices of gastric fundus could be obliterated by percutaneous, transhepatic embolization of gastric coronary and short veins.
