Objective To compare the long-term results of hypospadias surgery and analyze the influencing factors. Methods Sixty-four hypospadiac patients were followed up, cosmetic and sexual functional results were assessed by hypospadiac patients and surgeon using a designed questionnaire and 5-item version of the international index of erectile function (IIEF-5). Selected 35 adult as normal controls. Maximum flow rate and average flow rate Were used to assess evaluation of voiding function. Results All cases were followed up for 3-11 (7.5 ± 2.3) years. The satisfaction with the long-term results of penile appearance had significant differences between hypospadiac patients and surgeon, hypospadiac patients were less satisfied than surgeon (P< 0.05 or < 0.01). No significant differences were noted between hypospadiac patients and normal controls regarding the maximum flow rate [(23.37 ±2.92), (24.41 ±2.94) ml/s], average flow rate [(16.84± 1.75), (17.34 ±2.14) ml/s] and erectile function [(22.31 ± 1.94), (22.80 ± 1.73) pointe](P> 0.05). The average penile lengths[(5.93 ± 1.06) cm] and circumferences[(6.17 ±0.83) cm] of hypospadiac patients under flaccid conditions after operation were significantly shorter than those of normal controls [ (7.38 ± 0.79 ), ( 7.53 ± 0.75 ) cm ] ( P < 0.01). The important factors to influence the results including the age at which surgery was completed, hypospadiac severity, the number of operation and complication. ConclusionsIt is useful to improve the long-term efficacy by minimizing the number of operation and complication, and treating hypospadiac patients earlier. Surgeon should pay more attention to the long-term cosmetic results of hypospadias surgery.

Objective Near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy was used as a fast analytical technique in the ethanol reflux-extraction process of red ginseng. Methods The NIR spectra of the extracting solution of red ginseng were obtained and the reference measurements of the active constituent in the extracting solution were performed by the colorimetric method. Firstly, the interference information in the spectra was detected by orthogonal signal correction (OSC) method. Then a calibration model between NIR spectra and reference measurements was established by partial least square regression. Results The results showed that the predictive accuracy of NIR calibration model used for the determination of ginsenoside in ethanol extracting process of red ginseng was good. Conclusion NIR Spectroscopy could be applied to the fast analysis for ethanol extracting processes of red ginseng.

Journal of Central South University(Medical Sciences) 2023;48(11):1739-1745
Amyloidosis is a local or systemic disease caused by the deposition of misfolded proteins outside the cell, with rapid progression, and dire prognosis.Common types of cardiac amyloidosis are monoclonal immunoglobulin light chain amyloidosis(AL-CA)and transthyretin cardiac amyloidosis(ATTR-CA).Nuclear medicine examinations can be accurate, rapid, and non-invasive to help diagnose diseases and can effectively predict the prognosis of patients with CA.Technetium(99Tcm)-labeled bisphosphonate imaging has been included in the consensus of experts and has become the first-line imaging method for the diagnosis of ATTR-CA.123I-metaiodoenzylguanidine(MIBG)as a norepinephrine analogue can effectively assess cardiac sympathetic innervation in patients with CA.Aβ-amyloid imaging agents such as 11C-pittsburgh compound B and 18F-flubetaben are expected to be new techniques for diagnosing AL-CA and incorporating them into cardiac staging systems for AL-CA patients in the future.New imaging agents such as 18F-NaF has been widely used in the diagnosis, treatment response monitoring, and prognosis assessment of CA.Summarizing the research value of nuclide imaging in CA may provide new ideas for clinical realization of early detection of CA and accurate assessment of disease prognosis.

Candidiasis has a high morbidity and mortality worldwide, and its main causative agent is Candi-da albicans. At present, the treatment effect of candidiasis is not ideal due to the shortcomings of antifungal drugs, such as toxicity, drug resistance, single route of administration, and high price. In order to overcome this situation, metal nanoparticles with antifungal activity and the potential to deliver antifungal drugs have been extensively studied. In this paper, the mechanism and application of gold, silver, copper and iron nanoparticles against Candida albicans are reviewed.Compared with traditional antifungal drugs, metal nanoparticles exert antifungal effects through a multi-target mechanism, which minimizes the emergence of antifungal resistance.Cytotoxicity limits the application of metal nanoparticles, but green synthesis can reduce the cytotoxicity of metal nanoparticles and improve antimicrobial properties.
