Objective To analyze the clinical features of the hospitalized children with laboratory-confirmed influenza in Suzhou. Methods The demographic information, laboratory test results, clinical features, treatments and outcomes of the hospitalized children with laboratoryconfirmed influenza were collected retrospectively. The data were analyzed using chi square test,Cochran-Armitage trend test. Results Four hundred and eighty hospitalized children were diagnosed with laboratory-confirmed influenza during the period of 2005 to 2009. Among these cases, 414 were subtype A and 66 were subtype B. The positive rate was 2.66%. Four hundred and nineteen cases (87.29 %) were ≤ 5 years old. Most of the cases developed during winter (from December to April the next year) and summer (from July to August). The age and sex distribution didn't vary from year to year (x2=9. 7768,x2 = 8. 7573; both P>0.05). The mean disease course was (16.22± 9.41)days, and the mean hospitalization duration was (7.89 ±2.97) days. The percentages of patients with symptoms of fever, dyspnea and diarrhea or requiring oxygen treatment decreased with age (Z =4. 9430, Z=2. 1021, Z=3. 2073 and Z=2. 3277, respectively; all P<0.05). The percentages of cases with concomitant pneumonia and upper respiratory infection also decreased with age (Z =-3. 8762 and Z=-3. 5095, respectively; both P<0.01). Fifteen point five percent (60/387 cases)of the cases were co-infected with pneumococcus and 15. 0% (72/480 cases) were co-infected with respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). The level of C-reactive protein was significantly higher in cases with bacterial co-infection than those with viral co-infection (Z= -3.1290, P < 0. 01 ).Conclusions Hospitalized children with influenza are more common in winter and summer in Shuzhou. Many patients are co-infected with pneumococcus or RSV. The symptoms are more severe in younger children.

Objective: To discuss the clinical features of basaloid squamous carcinoma(BSC)and the factors relating to its prognosis and to compare patient survival between poorly differentiated squamous cell carcinoma(PDSC)and BSC. Methods: Clinical and pathological data of BSC and PDSC cases seen in our hospital between January 2004 and December 2008 were reviewed. Results: There were no statistical differences in demographic and clinical features between PDSC and BSC patients, with the exception that a larger proportion of BSC patients were female(P=-0.001).Additionally,higher tobacco consumption was observed among BSC male patients (P=0.003).There were no significant differences in survival rate between BSC and PDSC groups(X2=0.03,P=0.5470).The median survival time of BSC and PDSC patients was 19 months and 30 months, respectively. The 4-year survival rate was 22.4%and 36.1%,respectively(u=0.740,P=0.230).No significant difference was found in survival rate between stage Ⅰ and stage Ⅱ patients(X~2=0.109,P=0.2974).The median survival time of stage Ⅰ and stage Ⅱ patients was 19 months and 46 months, respectively;and the 4-year survival rate of stage Ⅰ and stage Ⅱ patients was 47.3% and 45.2%,respectively(u=0.122,P=0.450).Using Cox proportional hazard model,we found that surgical types and clinical stages of BSC were correlated with its prognosis.Compared with that of patients who received lobectomy, the postoperative mortality hazard of patients who received pneumonectomy and segmentectomy was increased by 1.379 times(P=0.031)and 1.634 times(P=0.061),respectively.A more advanced clinical stage was associated with an increase in the postoperative morta,ty hazard ratio(X~2=14.12,P=0.000).The postoperative mortality hazard of patients of stage Ⅲ and stage Ⅳ was 2.437 times higher than that of stage Ⅰ patients(P=0.018).There were no statistical differences in postoperative mortality risk between stage Ⅰ patients and stage Ⅱ patients(P=0.057). Conclusion: Compared with that of PDSC,the incidence of BSC is higher among females. However, there is no difference in the prognosis between BSC and PDSC.BSC can be treated with the same therapies as those for other types of non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC).

Chinese Journal of School Health 2019;40(6):827-830
Objective:
To understand secular trend of sedentary behaviors of school-aged children and adolescents in leisure time in China, and to provide theoretical basis for health behavior intervention.
Methods:
Data from China Health and Nutrition Survey (CHNS) during 2006 to 2015 were used to analyze leisure sedentary behaviors of children and adolescents aged 6-17 years. Means and medians were used for basic description and trend analysis, and nonparametric test was used for statistical comparison.
Results:
The total time of sedentary behavior during leisure time among children and adolescents aged 6-17 years showed a significant increasing trend, in which computer time contributed the most, especially among 6-11-year-old group with a five-fold increase. The time spent watching TV and doing homework slightly decreased. There was no sex difference in the total sedentary time during leisure time(Z=1.74,1.54,0.08,1.50,P>0.05), but there was sex difference in time spent in computer and homework(Z=2.00,2.01,2.84,2.92,P>0.05). Total sedentary time, as well as sedentary time spent in watching TV, computer, and homework differed by age and areas(Z=52.49-75.21,54.21-136.31,24.58-44.55; 6.25-8.61,6.42-13.34,3.89-6.42,P<0.01).
Conclusion
Over the last decade, sedentary behavior increased during leisure time among Chinese children and adolescents, and the usage pattern has also changed substantially. Results suggest that relevant departments should adopt more strategies to reduce sedentary behaviors and strengthen physical activities.
