ObjectiveTo explore the expression of EZH2 and p53 protein in primary prostate cancer (Pca) and its clinical significance. Methods High-throughput tissue microarray technique and immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expression of EZH2 and p53 protein in 48 human prostate cancer specimens without a history of chemo-radiation therapy and 15 cases of benign prostate hyperplasic (BPH) tissues. The pathological characteristics and the relationship of the expression of EZH2 and p53 protein in primary prostate cancer was analyzed. ResultsImmunohistochemical results showed that the positive rates of EZH2 and p53 protein in prostate cancer were 87.50 % (42/48) and 33.33 % (16/48), respectively, which were significantly higher than that in BPH tissues[13.33 % (2/15) and 0 (0/15)](x2=26.429, x2=5.058,P <0.05). The expression of EZH2 and p53 protein was significantly related to Gleason score, TNM stage (P <0.05), but not to age and serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA) level (P >0.05). The positive expression in patients with Gleason>6 was higher than that with Gleason≤6(P <0.05).The positive expression in patients with T3-T4 stage was higher than that with T1-T2 stage(P <0.05).Spearman rank correlation showed a significantly positive correlation between EZH2 and p53 protein (r=0.294, P <0.05). ConclusionEZH2 and p53 protein may participate in the pathogenesis of prostate cancer. The overexpression of EZH2 and p53 protein could become an index for the evaluation of the level of malignancy and progression of prostate cancer.Furthermore, combining detection of EZH2 and p53 protein may provide a new theoretical basis for the treatment of prostate cancer.

Background and purpose: Primary renal marginal zone B-cell lymphomas of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue(MALT lymphoma) are rare tumors in the kidney.Till now, less than 50 cases have been reported all over the world. This article introduced 2 cases of MALT lymphoma based on the morphological and immunophenotype features, aimed to highlight this rare tumor in terms of clinical characteristics and pathology.Methods:2 cases of renal MALT lymphomas were treated in our hospital.Clinical history were collected, morphological analysis was evaluated based on the HE section, and immunohistochemistry were performed by CD20,CD79a,CD5,CD10,CD43,CD23,BCL10 and cyclinD1 antibodies.Results:2 female patients with the age of 48 and 55,respectively,both of them had a history of chronic pyelonephritis.Under the B ultrasonic and CT scanning,a lump in the kidney was found and whole nephrectomy was performed. In the macroscopic view, tumors were in the renal medulla with dark red color and ill-defined boundary. In the microscopic view, lymphoid cells infiltrate from the pelvis to the medulla of kidney, lymphoid cells mainly consisted of small lymphocytes,centrocyte-like cells, lymphoplasmacytoid and plasma cells.Reactive follicles and lymphoepithelial lesions also could be seen in the tumor.Immunohistochemistry showed that the tumor cells were CD20 and CD79a positive,CD43 was weak positive, but CD5,CD10,CD23,BCL10 and cyclinD1 were all negative. Conclusions:Primary renal MALT lymphomas are very rare diseases.According to the clinical manifestation,it is hard to differentiate from renal cell carcinoma. But the morphological features were consistent with the classic MALT lymphomas in other sites.Immunophenotype profiles were helpful for diagnosis.

Objective:To evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of 64-channel multislice spiral computed tomography(MSCT) in subjects with presentations suggestive of stable angina or acute coronary syndrome. Methods: Subjects received both 64-channel MSCT and coronary angiography, from Feb. 2006 to Feb. 2007, were enrolled for retrospective analyses. Results of the quantitative coronary angiography were used as the "Golden criteria", accuracy of 64-channel MSCT were evaluated in the overall sample, as well as in subjects suspected of stable angina and acute coronary syndrome. Results: A total of 120 subjects were enrolled in the analyses. On the patient level, the sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of 64-channel MSCT in detecting significant stenoses were 92.5%, 50%, and 87.5%, respectively. The overall ROC area under curve was 0.71. On the artery level, sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value, and ROC area under curve of 64-channel MSCT were 69.9%, 83.8%, 81.1%, 73.7%, and 0.77, respectively. Further analyses showed the sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value, and ROC area under curve of 64-channel MSCT in subjects presenting as stable angina and in subjects presenting as acute coronary syndrome were as follows: 70.2% vs 69.2%, 76.2% vs 86.0%, 74.7% vs 85.6%, 71.9% vs 69.9%, and 0.73 vs 0.78. Conclusion: The accuracy rates of 64-chanel MSCT in subjects presenting as stable angina and in subjects presenting as acute coronary syndrome were similar.

Objective To investigate the possibility of early diagnosis of colorectal cancer by combined detec-tion of tumor markers dermcidin(DCD),CA199,CA724 and CEA. Methods We selected 81 colorectal cancer patients and 30 healthy individuals. Serum levels of DCD were detected by ELISA,and serum levels of CA199, CA724 and CEA were detected by electrochemical luminescent immunoassay, and the expression of DCD in colorectal cancer tissue and para-carcinoma tissue was measured by Western blot. Results Serum levels of CA199,CA724,and CEA were significantly higher in colorectal cancer patients than in healthy individuals(P<0.001). Combined detection of DCD,CA199,CA724 and CEA had a greater AUC(0.942)for identifying colorec-tal cancer from the controls. The expression of DCD was significantly higher in colorectal tissue than in para-carci-noma tissue(P<0.05). Conclusions Level of DCD expression was significantly higher in colorectal tissue than in para-carcinoma tissue. Expressions of serum DCD,CA199,CA724,and CEA may be a marker in diagnosis of can-cer,with higher clinical value for the adjuvant diagnosis of colorectal cancer.

Acta Nutrimenta Sinica 1956;0(01):-
Objective: To investigate the possible mechanism of neuroprotection produced by taurine supplement on brain in young rats. Methods: In vitro, taurine treatment or co-treatment with sodium selenite that produced significant neuronal apoptosis was used in cultured cortical neurons to examine the neuroprotection effect using MTT assay and DNA fragmentation electrophoresis. In vivo, female weanling Sprague Dawley rats were divided into four groups, eight rats per group. The treated groups were fed on diets with different contents of taurine respectively, and the control group was fed on taurine unsupplemented diets. The experiment lasted five weeks. Results: Taurine significantly increased neuronal survival in dose-dependent manner. The typical DNA ladder pattern could be prevented by taurine. Taurine could elevate brain wet weight, and significantly increased the level of taurine, protein and AChE in brain. Conclusion: It is proposed that the neuroprotection effect of taurine could be achieved by modulating expression of related genes and blocking neuronal apoptosis.
