Cardiopulmonary bypass(CPB) can induce systemic inflammatory response syndrome(SIRS).This review elaborated the influences of SIRS in acute lung injury after CPB.

Cardiopulmonary bypass(CPB) is often followed by pulmonary dysfunction,and is also regarded as a high risk factor for development of acute respiratory distress syndrome(ARDS).This article reviewed the recent researches of the mechanisms of lung injury induced by CPB.

The college students innovative test project,which advocates student-centered teaching pattern focusing on questions and subjects is an important component of the project on undergraduate teaching quality and teaching reform in medical college of Shanghai Jiao Tong university.The innovative test project has effectively fostered the innovative spirits,practical abilities,scientific attitudes and learning initiatives of the college students after being implementing for more than four years.Besides,it has changed the teaching philosophy of teachers and created a favorable atmosphere of innovative practice.Several problems have emerged during the implementation of the project including broad topics,limited sample size and incorrect motives for doing tests.Exclusive mechanism aiming at the long-term effect of the project should be established, the concept of the project should be promoted and the communication platform should be built in order to consummate this project.

Objective To investigate the expression of CD14, the receptor of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) on Kupffer cell membrane during the course of CCl4-induced liver injury and its role in activation of Kupffer cells. Methods The experimental rats were hypodermically administered CCl4 twice weekly for up to 8 weeks. Kupffer cells were isolated from the liver of normal and CCl4-treated rats by the combined ‘collagenase-pronase’ perfusion method and discontinuous density gradient centrifugation. On the following day after isolation, the cells were incubated with RPMI-1640 containing various doses of LPS for 6 h. The tumor necrosis factor (TNF-?) in the supernatants was measured by ELISA. OBJECTIVE:To investigate the influence of TCM Granules of the detoxification and dissipation blood stasis formula Ⅱon fulminant hepatic mitochondrial lipid peroxidation in rats with hepatic failure.METHODS:The fulminant hepatic failure rat models were established by subcutaneous injection of thioacetamide (TAA).48 Wistar rats were randomly divided into 7 groups:blank control group,model group,low dose group,medium dose group,high dose group,the lactulose treatment group,and the "Bezoar pill for resurrection" treatment group.Intragastric administration was executed 3 d before model-making,twice per day with the interval of 12 hours.They were administered for 11times.12 hours after model establishment.MDA、SOD、CAT、GSH、NO and liver necrosis area in hepatic mitochondria were determined.RESULTS:The detoxification and dissipation blood stasis formula Ⅱcould notably reduce liver necrosis area and restrain produce of hepatic mitochondrial lipid peroxidatide MDA,retrieve the activity of SOD、CAT and increase the content of GSH,NO.Moreover it shows dose-effect relation.Compared with model group,there is statistical significance(P

ObjectiveTo observe the relationship between astrocytes and neurons in rat's medulla oblongata after exposed to 8Hz, 90dB/130dB infrasound for different times. MethodsRats were exposed to 8Hz, 90dB/130dB infrasound for 2 hours per day.At the 1st,7th,12th,21th and 28th day, the expression of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) and Fos in medulla oblongata were detected using double-labling immunohistochemical method.Results GFAP-positive astrocytes and Fos-positive neurons were increased after exposure for one time. They showed similar topographic localization and formed close relationship. Their number increased as the exposure times increasing, and decreased gradually after 14 days. The reaction of 130dB group was stronger than that of 90dB group.Conclusions 8Hz, 90dB/130dB infrasound can activate both astrocytes and neurons in rats' medulla oblongata which might participate and regulate the response to infrasound.

OBJECTIVETo compare the difference in the clinical efficacy on premature ovarian failure (POF) between the acupoint catgut implantation combined with artifical periodic therapy and the simple artificial periodic therapy and explore its effect mechanism.

METHODSSixty-five patients of POF were randomized into the two groups. In a western medication group, 32 cases were treated with the artificial periodic therapy with the oral administration of medroxyprogesterone acetate tablets. In a catgut implantation + western medication group, 33 cases were treated with the acupoint catgut implantation combined with artificial periodic therapy. The acupoints of Neiguan (PC 6), Zusanli (ST 36), Guanyuan (CV 4) and Sanyinjiao (SP 6) were selected. The treatment was lasted for half a year and the follow-up visit was for another half a year in the two groups. Kupperman index was used to assess the improvements in the clinical symptoms. The levels of serum sexual hormones such as follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and estradiol (E2) were evaluated of the patients in the two groups before and after treatment. The efficacy was compared between the two groups.

RESULTSThe scores of the clinical symptoms were all significantly improved after treatment and in the follow-up in the two groups (P < 0.01, P < 0.05). In the 6-month follow-up visit after treatment, the result in the catgut implantation + western medication group was better than that in the western medication group (8.17 +/- 1.19 vs 13.68 +/- 1.08, P < 0.01). FSH was reduced after treatment in the two groups (all P < 0.01) and E2 was increased (all P < 0.05). The curative and remarkably effective rates were 75.8% (25/33) and 81.8% (27/22) after treatment and in the follow-up visit in the catgut implantation + western medication group, which were better than 67.9% (19/28) and 53.6% (15/28) in the western medication group separately (P < 0.05, P < 0.01).

CONCLUSIONThe acupoint catgut implantation combined with artificial periodic therapy achieve the remarkable improvements in the clinical symptoms of POF in the patients and the better results as compared with the simple western medication therapy. The combined therapys efficacy is stable and the long-term efficacy is apparently superior. The effect mechanism is related to the improvements in the serum sexual hormone levels.
