1.Empirical Analysis on Medical Ethics in the United Nations Peacekeeping Medical Support
Chinese Medical Ethics 2017;30(7):802-804,809
In the peacekeeping operations of the United Nations, medical personnel need to have clear legal compliance to solve the ethical problems encountered. The existing laws and regulations are impractical with a nar row cover, which can't meet the actual requirements.Based on the literatures and practical examples, this paper discussed the medical ethical problems involved in peacekeeping operations using the three-step method (empirical investigation, comparative analysis and summarization),and provided suggestions and countermeasures to the construction of medical ethics in peacekeeping medical support.

Various cancers have seriously threatened human' s health. Screening newer and more effective anticancer agents from natural sources to cure these diseases is the focus in research. As novel sources of potential medicine, a number of metabolites isolated from endophytic fungi have been proved to have anticancer bioactivity. Usually, these endophytic fungi have special biochemical pathway and they can accumulate anticancer agents in cultures such as taxane, alkaloids, cytochalasins, podophyllotoxin, brefeldin A and so forth. The research advance on anticancer agents purified from endophytic fungi is expatiated systemically. In addition, the strategy of screening anticancer agents as well as the prospect on this area is introduced briefly.

T he finite element method (FE m) is a mathematical technique using modern computer tech-nology for stress analysis, and has been gradually used in simulating human body structures in the biomechanical field, especially more widely used in the research of thoracolumbar spine traumatology. T his paper reviews the establishment of the thoracolumbar spine FE m, the verification of the FE m, and the thoracolumbar spine FE mresearch status in different fields, and discusses its prospects and values in forensic thoracolumbar traumatology.

OBJECTIVESince glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency is the most common hereditary hemolytic erythrocyte enzyme deficiency, most cases have single nucleotide mutations in the coding region, and current test methods for gene mutation have some missed detections, this study aimed to investigate the feasibility of RT-PCR sequencing in the detection of gene mutation in G6PD deficiency.
METHODSAccording to the G6PD/6GPD ratio, 195 children with anemia of unknown cause or who underwent physical examination between August 2013 and July 2014 were classified into G6PD-deficiency group with 130 children (G6PD/6GPD ratio <1.00) and control group with 65 children (G6PD/6GPD ratio≥1.00). The primer design and PCR amplification conditions were optimized, and RT-PCR sequencing was used to analyze the complete coding sequence and verify the genomic DNA sequence in the two groups.
RESULTSIn the G6PD-deficiency group, the detection rate of gene mutation was 100% and 13 missense mutations were detected, including one new mutation. In the control group, no missense mutation was detected in 28 boys; 13 heterozygous missense mutations, 1 homozygous same-sense mutation (C1191T) which had not been reported in China and abroad, and 14 single nucleotide polymorphisms of C1311T were detected in 37 girls. The control group showed a high rate of missed detection of G6PD deficiency (carriers) in the specimens from girls (35%, 13/37).
CONCLUSIONSRT-PCR sequencing has a high detection rate of G6PD gene mutation and a certain value in clinical diagnosis of G6PD deficiency.

Objective To investigate the expression of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase(PI-3K)in adipose tissue of polycystic ovary syndrome patients(PCOS),and explore molecular mechanisms of insulin resistance(IR)in PCOS.Methods Samples from patients with PCOS with IR(n=19),PCOS without IR (n=10)and controls(n=15)were collected.Serum fasting insulin(FIN)and fasting plasma glucose (FPG)were measure& Insulin resistance index was calculated using homeostasis model assessment (HOMA)to analyze the relationship between these markers and IR.Western blot technique was used to detect the PI-3K p85 subunit.Gene expression of PI-3K p85 subunit was detected by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR)method.Kinase activity was detected by immunoprecipitation,thin- layer chromatography and gamma scintillation counting.Results(1)The levels of FIN[(25.2?3.8) mU/L]and HOMA-IR(1.6?0.3)in PCOS with IR were significantly higher than those in PCOS without IR[(13.4 +3.8)mU/L,0.9?0.3]and controls[(9.5 +2.6)mU/L,0.5?0.3;all P<0.05).(2) There was no significant difference in the protein(0.65?0.10)and gene expression(0.92?0.12)of PI-3 K p85 subunit in PCOS with IR compared with PCOS without IR(0.72?0.10,1.01?0.10)and control groups(0.73?0.14,1.00?0.12;P>0.05).(3)PI-3K activity in PCOS with IR(81%)and PCOS without IR(89%)was significantly decreased(P<0.01,P<0.05)and negatively correlated with HOMA- IR(r=-0.69,P<0.01;r=-0.62,P<0.05).Conclusions No significant difference in the protein and gene expression of PI-3K p85 subunit in PCOS with IR is found. The decreased PI-3K activity may lead to IR of PCOS.

OBJECTIVETo explore biomechanical properties and stress-strain of mucosa scars after cleft palate surgery.
METHODSAfter the model of mucosa scars was made, the mucosa scars and normal mucosa were excised and examined immediately by tensionometry.
RESULTSThe mucosa scars after cleft palate surgery were compared with normal mucosa. The Poisson's ratio of mucosa scars and normal mucosa was 0.5 and 0.49, respectively, showing no significant difference between the two groups. The ultimate Young's modulus of mucosa scars was about 24.22 MPa, however, it declined to 3.32 Mpa in normal mucosa.
CONCLUSIONSThe mucosa scars after cleft palate surgery are biomechanically weaker than normal mucosa. It can be used for further research, such as maxillary orthognathic surgery, distraction osteogenesis, and orthodontic treatment.
