International Eye Science 2014;(8):1550-1552
AIM: To observe the clinical effect of phacoemulsification and posterior chamber intraocular lens ( IOL) implantation in the treatment of unilateral high myopia combined with age-related cataract.
METHODS: A retrospective clinical study was carried out in a single ophthalmology center. All patients diagnosed of unilateral high myopia with age- related cataract were performed phacoemulsification and posterior chamber IOL implantation. The axial length of operation eye was ≥27mm, and the axial length of unoperated fellow eye was≤25mm. Visual acuity and complications were followed up for 1, 7d, 1, 3mo postoperative.
RESULTS:Thirty-three patients with average age 68. 8±9. 26 (41-87) y were enrolled in this study, 7 cases were men, 26 cases were women. The mean axial length of operation eyes was 29. 44±1. 80(27. 1-32. 71) mm and the mean axial length of unoperated fellow eyes was 23. 39±0.92 ( 21. 72 - 24. 90 ) mm. The average axial length difference of binocular eyes was 6. 06±1. 97(2. 78-9. 92) mm. The best corrected visual acuity ( BCVA ) increased from 0. 02±0. 02(light perception~0. 12) preoperatively to 0. 20±0. 20 ( 0. 02 - 0. 8 ) at 3mo postoperatively. There was statistically significant difference (t= -5. 278, P<0. 05). Among the 10 patients whose axial length difference of binocular eyes was 2. 01 - 5. 00mm, 60% of their postoperative BCVA were >0. 3. Among the 13 patients with binocular axial length difference of 5. 01-7. 00mm, 46.2% of BCVA were >0. 3,46.2% achieved 0. 05-0. 25. Another 10 patients of binocular axial length difference between 7. 01-9. 99mm, 90% of BCVA were <0. 3, of which 40% were<0. 05. No complications occurred during operative and postoperative .
CONCLUSION: Phacoemulsification and posterior chamber IOL implantation can effectively improve the postoperative visual acuity and it is safe for unilateral high myopic patients combined with age-related cataract. The recovery of visual acuity is related with binocular axial length difference.

To assess the postoperative outcomes of piggyback implantation using Acrysof Toric intraocular lens ( lOL ) in high myopia combined with corneal astigmatism.
●METHODS: Sixty patients who had phacoemulsification with lOL implantation due to high myopia, cataract and corneal astigmatism from January 2010 to June 2013 were randomly divided into observation group (piggyback Toric lOL implantation, both an Acrysoft lQ Toric lOL and a minus foldable acrylic three piece lOL were implanted in the capsular bag, n= 30) and control group (foldable lOL implantation, n = 30). Postoperative follow - up went on 6mo. lnformation collected included uncorrected visual acuity ( UCVA), lOL position, residual astigmatism and complications.
● RESULTS: The UCVA increased from 3. 52 ± 0. 03 preoperatively to 4. 78±0. 01 at 6mo postoperatively in the observation group, from 3. 51±0. 03 preoperatively to 4. 30± 0. 13 at 6mo postoperatively in the control group. The observation group's postoperative UCVA was better than that of the control group. There was statistically significant difference ( t = 3. 612, P < 0. 05 ). The preoperative corneal astigmatism was 2. 97 ± 0. 87 (1. 70 -4. 27) D in the observation group and 2. 92 ± 0. 97 (1. 50 -4. 90)D in the control group. The postoperative residual astigmatism was 0. 48 ± 0. 23 ( 0. 25 - 1. 00 ) D in the observation group and 2. 87 ± 1. 11 (1. 00 - 5. 20) D in the control group. There was statistically significant difference postoperatively (t = - 11. 995, P < 0. 05) between the two groups. No complications occurred.
●CONCLUSlON: Piggyback implantation using Toric lOL can help to solve the problem of no matching Toric lOL power for the high myopia combined with corneal astigmatism at the current stage. lt improves the UCVA and reduces the astigmatism after the cataract surgery.

Starting from the clinical practice, this paper considers the common used syndrome typing in current of zang-fu differentiation are basic syndromes. It is too general, weak in pertinency and inconvenient for the clinical application. Therefore,we provide the new assumption about the detailed typing of zang-fu differentiation, and expatiate its concept, principle, basis and significance. Through these,TCM syndrome differentiation system can be expanded in some sense. The paper also provides a new way for building an objective and standard TCM system.

Through introducing mutations into ribosomes by obtaining spontaneous drug resistance of microorganisms, ribosome engineering technology is an effective approach to develop mutant strains that overproduce secondary metabolites. In this study, ribosome engineering was used to improve the yield of butenyl-spinosyns produced by Saccharopolyspora pogona by screening streptomycin resistant mutants. The yields of butenyl-spinosyns were then analyzed and compared with the parent strain. Among the mutants, S13 displayed the greatest increase in the yield of butenyl-spinosyns, which was 1.79 fold higher than that in the parent strain. Further analysis of the metabolite profile of S13 by mass spectrometry lead to the discovery of Spinosyn α1, which was absent from the parent strain. DNA sequencing showed that there existed two point mutations in the conserved regions of rpsL gene which encodes ribosomal protein S12 in S13. The mutations occurred a C to A and a C to T transversion mutations occurred at nucleotide pair 314 and 320 respectively, which resulted in the mutations of Proline (105) to Gultamine and Alanine (107) to Valine. It also demonstrated that S13 exhibited genetic stability even after five passages.

The solubility parameter determination of astrageloside from Buyang Huanwu decoction with inverse gas chromatography (IGC) method evaluation was investigated in this paper. Di-n-octyl phthalate Kwai alternative sample was used to carry out methodological study. The accuracy of the measured correlation coefficient was 0.992 1. Experimental precision measured by IGC experiments showed that the results were accurate and reliable. The sample was uniformly coated on the surface of an inert carrier and N2 gas was carrier gas, a variety of polar solvents such as isopropanol, toluene, acetone, chloroform, cyclohexane as probes. TCD detector temperature was 150 degrees C, gas room temperature was 120 degrees C. Similar headspace method was used whichever over 1 μL gas into the GC measurement, Retention time t(R), t(0) and all the parameters of air and probes molecules within the column were tested. Astragaloside solubility parameter was (21.02 ± 2.4) [J x cm(-3)] ½, literature value was 19.24 [J x cm(-3)] ½, and relevant coefficient was 0.984 5. IGC method is effective and accurate to measure ingredients solubility parameter.

Objective To investigate the ability of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in tracking magnetically labeled mesenchymal stem cells (MR-MSCs) in a swine myocardial infarction (MI) model. Methods Adult Chinese mini-pigs (n = 6) were subjected to open-chest experimental MI operation.Their antegeneic bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells ( MSCs ) was cultured and doubly labeled with ferumoxides and DAPL On the 14 th day after MSCs transplantation, the size and location of the myocardial infarction were assessed by using delayed-enhancement MRI (DE-MRI). Then the labeled MSCs were injected intramyocardially into peri-infarct zone and normal myocardium. At 24 hrs and 3 weeks after injection, the contrast and the volume of the MR-MSCs hypointense lesion from the MR images were acquired, and the contrast was determined using the difference in signal intensity between the hypointense and normal myocardium divided by signal intensity of the normal region. After humane euthanasia, the heart was excised and histology corresponding to MRI slices that demonstrated MR-MSCs lesions was performed.Repeated-measures ANOVA and a paired t test were used for comparison of the contrast and the volume of the MR-MSCs hypointense lesion at different time points. Comparisons between independent groups were performed with the standard Student t test. Results The labeling efficiency of ferumoxides and DAPI was 100% . On the 14 th day after the MI operation, the average percentage of infracted myocardial area was (33.6±8.9)% .Twenty- four hours after MSCs transplantation, MSCs injection sites appeared as ovoid hypointensive lesions with sharp border on T2 * images. At 24 h after injection, the signal contrast [(67.00±5.48)% vs (61.92 ±7.76)%,t = 1.65,P =0.1158] and the size [(0.56 ±0.24) cm2 vs (0.52 ± 0.25 ) cm2, t = 0.39, P = 0.7044 ] of the lesions showed no statistical difference between the peri infarct zone and the normal myocardium. At 3 weeks after injection, the signal contrast decreased and the size diminished both in the peri-infarct zone and in the normal myocardium. Moreover, the contrast of the lesions in peri-infarct zone decreased more significantly than that in normal myocardium [(26.88 +7.27)%vs (15.00 :t:4.51)%, F =20.08, P =0.0003].Post mortem analysis found the fluorescontly labeled MSCs demonstrated on histological sections. There were much more dense fluorescently labled MSCs per high power fields at injection sites of normal myocardium than at injection sites of peri-infarct zone [ (106 ±25 )/HPF vs ( 143 ± 31 )/HPF, t = - 2.47, P = 0.0293 ].In MSCs injection sites of the peri-infarct zone, the capillary density was significantly higher than that in control sites [ (13.4 ± 4.0 )/HPF vs (9.4 ±3.1 )/HPF, t = 2.49, P = 0.0229].At 3 weeks after injection, ferumoxide was contained within partial original MSCs.Conclusion Magnetic resonance imaging of MSCs is a feasible method for the in vivo tracking of transplanted stem cells and could reflect the tendency of the local stem cell quantity, but there still has limitation for the semi-quantitation of the transplanted stem cells.

OBJECTIVE:
To explore the effect of LRRC4 on the mobility and invasion of glioblastomas U251 cells through the SDF-1alpha/CXCR4 axis.
METHODS:
RT-PCR, transfilter cell invasion assay, adhesion assay, scraping test, scrape loading, and dye transfer assay were used to determine the effect of LRRC4 on U251 cells.
RESULTS:
SDF-1 alpha could increase the invasion in U251 which expressed CXCR4. The reintroduction of LRRC4 in U251 cells could inhibit the expression of CXCR4. LRRC4 also inhibited the adhesion ability of U251 to ECV304 as well as the mobility and invasion ability in vitro, which was mediated by the SDF-1alpha/CXCR4 axis. Furthermore, LRRC4 could greatly enhance the gap junctional intercellular communication of U251 cells.
CONCLUSION
The reintroduction of LRRC4 in U251 cells can inhibit the expression of CXCR4 and the SDF-1alpha/CXCR4 axis-mediated cell invasion in vitro.
