1.Astudy on the efficiency of polyethersulfone hollow fiber membrane automatic plasma collector

Objective To evaluate the polyethersulfone(PES)hollow fiber membrane automatic plasma collector and its efficiency for separating plasma.Methods The plasma was collected by using the automated plasma collector with an innovating PES hollow fiber membrane plasma separator incorporated into a plasmapheresis device,using single needle.The concentration of total plasma protein was determined by Bio Rad method.Results 1)The sieving coefficients were over 95% during the plasma collection, and were stable.2)As the hematocrit (Hct) increased, the plasma collection rate decreased, but the plasma separation efficiency increased.At constant Hct of 0.45,the plasma filtration rate was 23.6ml/min,and the plasma separation efficiency was 52%.It took 20min to collect 200mL plasma.3)The maximum hemolysis rate after several circulation of collection was below 2.5%.Conclusion The plasma collection was satisfactorily performed, and the yield of plasma protein components was nearly the same as the plasma in whole blood.The PES membrane collector had a comparatively high efficiency of plasma separation.
2.The signification of p57kip2immunostaining to distinguish molar gestations from hydropic abortions

Objective To study the signification of p57kip2 immunostaining to distinguish molar gestations from hydropic abortions.Methods To observe the p57kip2 immunohistochemical expression in 58 cases of histological hydropic villi which were divided into complete mole(18 cases) ,partial mole(19 cases),hydropic abortion(11 cases)and undetermined hydropic abortion or molar gestations(10 cases) and in 3 normal placentas.Results Normal villi,partial mole and hydropic abortions show positive staining for p57kip2, which expressed in the nuclei of cytotrophoblast and villous mesenchyme,and complete moles show complete absence of staining in the cytotrophoblast and villous mesenchyme.According to the comparison of the diagnosis based on morphology and the one based on p57kip2 stai-ning,the later whose sensitivity is 96% (46/48) confirmed the earlier diagnosis in 58 cases studied and the later conformed to the earlier very well.Conclusion The immunohistochemical staining for p57kip2 is a valuable diagnostic mean to distinguish molar gestations from hydropic abortions and is a sensitive and specific marker for the diagnosis of complete mole.
3.Applicative value of three-dimensional DSA and MRI or CT fusion technology in the treatment of intracranial arteriovenous malformations

Objective Toinvestigatetheapplicativevalueof3D-DSAandheadMRIorCTfusion technology for guiding the individualized treatment of intracranial arteriovenous malformation (AVM ). Methods Twenty-onepatientswithAVMdiagnosedwithDSAattheDepartmentofNeurosurgery,Nanjing General Hospital of Nanjing Military Command from January 2015 to May 2015 were analyzed retrospectively. All patients performed DSA,MRI,and CT scan respectively before procedure,and they also performed 3 D-DSA and MRI or CT fusion. Of the 21 patients,15 performed MRI and 3D-DSA fusion,6 performed CT and 3D-DSA fusion. According to the image fusion results of the patients,the individualized treatment regimens were further developed,including microsurgical resection,endovascular embolization,and stereotactic radiotherapy (alone or combined treatment). The patients were followed up and observed for 2 to 6 months after procedure.Results Fromthe3D-DSAwithheadMRIorCTfusionimagesofthepatientsbeforetheprocedure not only could observe the vascular architecture of AVM,the relationship between the niduses and the surrounding nerve structures,but also could precisely locate the positions of AVM with small aneurysms or tiny AVMs. According to the results of image fusion,17 patients with AVM were treated with microsurgical resection,2 were treated with interventional embolization and stereotactic radiotherapy,and 2 were treated with stereotactic radiotherapy only. Of the 17 patients with AVM underwent microsurgical resection, none experienced intracranial rebleeding during the follow-up period. The last Glasgow outcome scale (GOS)score was 5 in 13 cases,and 4 in 4 cases. One patient with AVM underwent combined stereotactic radiotherapy had intracranial rebleeding during the follow-up period,and their last GOS score was 4. The other remaining 3 patients did not have new neurological deficits or rebleeding during the follow-up period,and theirGOSscorewas5.Conclusions 3D-DSA,headMRI,andCTfusiontechnologyarenovel, the operative method is simple,and the fusion image is accurate. They can effectively develop the individualized treatment regimens for patients with AVM.
4.The combined biological effects of low dose radiation, carbon monoxide, benzene and noise on rats

Objective To investigate the combined biological effects of low dose radiation,carbon monoxide,benzene and noise on rats.Methods Sixteen male SD rats were randomly divided into experiment group and control group.The experiment group was exposed to carbon monoxide,benzene,low dose radiation and noise daily,the control group was in common environment.Peripheral blood,organ index,and marrow DNA content were detected.Two-dimensional electrophoresis (2-DE) was performed on serum protein analysis.Differential expressed proteins were identified by a matrix assisted laser desorption/ionization time of flight mass spectrometry (MAIDI-TOF-MS).Results Compared to control group,the liver index,spleen index,thymus index,leukocytes,platelets count,and marrow DNA content of the experiment group were decreased significantly (t =2.732,4.141,3.053,2.211,2.668,11.592,P <0.05).12 altered proteins were detected and through identification,3 proteins were definite in terms of serum amyloid A-4 protein (SAA4),trichoplein keratin filament-binding protein (TCHP) and tubulin alpha-4A chain (TUBA4A).Conclusions The hematopoietic system and immune system of rats are damaged significantly with the changes of several serum protein expressions by the combined exposure of low dose radiation,carbon monoxide,benzene and noise.This study may provide new information for the mechanism of the combination effects.
5.Surveillance of soil-borne nematodiasis among rural populations in Tiantai County

Objective:
To investigate the prevalence of soil-borne nematode infections among rural residents in Tiantai County, Zhejiang Province, so as to provide insights into improving the control strategy.
Methods:
According to the Zhejiang Provincial Surveillance Programme on Soil-borne Nematodiasis and Clonorchiasis, 5 administrative villages were randomly selected in Tiantai County according to geographical locations on April, 2021, and all permanent residents at ages of 3 years and older were sampled from each village using a cluster sampling method. Subjects' gender, age, occupation, education level and deworming were collected. Subjects' stool samples were collected, and soil-borne nematode eggs were detected using the modified Kato-Katz technique, and larval culture was performed using a filter-paper culture method among hookworm egg positives for identification of hookworm species. In addition, the intensity of infection was evaluated using hookworm eggs per gram stool sample.
Results:
A total of 1 013 residents participated in the survey, including 495 men (48.86%) and 518 women (51.14%), and there were 502 participants at ages of 51 to 70 years (49.56%), 874 farmers (86.28%) and 436 subjects with an education level of primary school (43.04%). However, no subjects received deworming. The prevalence of hookworm infections was 3.85% among the study subjects, and only Necator americanus was identified. There were 31 cases with mild infections (79.49%), 5 cases with moderate infections (12.82%) and 3 cases with severe infections (7.69%), and all infections occurred in farmers. The prevalence of hookworm infections was 3.84% among men and 3.86% among women. No hookworm infection was detected among residents at ages of <41 years, and the prevalence of hookworm infections appeared a tendency towards a rise with age among residents at ages of 51 years and older (χ2trend=24.091, P<0.001), while the prevalence of hookworm infections appeared a tendency towards a decline with educational levels among residents (χ2trend=19.534, P<0.001). The greatest prevalence of hookworm infections was found in Qianyang Village (10.95%).
Conclusions
Hookworm disease is the predominant type of soil-borne nematodiasis in Tiantai County, and the middle-aged and elderly farmers with a low education level are high-risk populations for soil-borne nematodiasis control.
6.Assessed values of color-coded digital subtraction angiography for intracranial arteriovenous malformation

Objective To investigate the preoperative and intraoperative assessed values of the color-coded digital subtraction angiography (DSA ) for intracranial arteriovenous malformation (AVM). Methods Fifteen patients with AVM performed preoperative routine whole brain DSA were analyzed retrospectively,and the iFlow software was used to perform color-coded DSA of image post-processing. A comprehensive analysis such as the range of lesions,vascular architecture and hemodynamics of AVM was conducted on the two-dimensional DSA images and color-coded DSA. Results Of the 15 patients with AVM,9 were small-sized (including 4 nidi showed diffuse type),3 were medium-sized,and 3 were large-sized;8 patients had single feeding artery,and 7 had multiple feeding arteries;11 had single draining vein,and 4 had multiple draining veins. When showing the size of AVM nidus,particularly diffuse type nidus, the color-coded DSA was clearer than the two-dimensional image. The color-coded DSA could visually display the traveling of the superficial and deep draining veins,at the same time,the primary and secondary draining veins could be identified according to the size of the area under the curve and the full width at half maximum,and intuitively reflected the complete cycle of cerebral blood flow. Conclusion The color-coded DSA can quickly and accurately depict the range of AVM,angioarchitecture features and intraoperative hemodynamic changes.
7.Investigation of the degradation behavior of different modified bovine pericardial in vitro.

Bovine pericardium is mainly composed of collagen which has many good properties of extracellular matrix. This in vitro study was performed to quantitatively investigate and compare the degradation behavior of the bovine pericardial, which were modified with different methods. The purpose is to find out one method that presents not only the degradation regularity of material but also minimum antigenicity, so that bovine pericardium can be used as a well degradable guide tissue regeneration material. The results of the experiments showed that the bovine pericardium treated with ethanol is more appreciated than that treated with epoxy cross-linking agent or glutaraldehyde. The mensuration of protein and special amino acid may be a useful base of constructing a mathematic model for further researches on the rate of degradation of bovine pericardium.

8.Preparation Technology of Buccal Tablets Containing Old Tea Leaf Extract

Objective:To prepare old tea buccal tablets using wet granulation method and optimize the preparation technology. Methods:The amount of each adjuvant was studied by single factor experiments, and the formula of the buccal tablets was optimized by the orthogonal experiments using taste and disintegration time as indices. Results:The optimal formula was composed of old tea ex-tract 30 g,mannitol 60g,PEG6000 20 g,aspartame 10 g,citric acid 10 g and menthol crystal 1 g. All the tested indices including ap-pearance, hardness and disintegration time met the requirements described in Chinese pharmacopeia. Conclusion: The preparation technology is reasonable and feasible for the industrial production.
9.Observation of lenalidomide combined with modified MP regimen in the treatment of elderly patients with multiple myeloma

Objective To investigate the clinical effect of lenalidomide combined with modified MP regimen in the treatment of multiple myeloma( MM) . Methods Eighty=four elderly multiple myeloma patients treated in Tangshan City Workers'Hospital from January 2013 December 2016 were enrolled in this study. The patients were randomly divided into treatment group ( 42 cases) and control group ( 42 cases) . The patients in the treatment group were given LMP regimen +α2b? interferon. The patients in the control group received the standard MPT regimen. The changes of the level of β2 microglobulin in the two groups before and after treatment were compared,and the total effective rate in the two groups was compared. Results No statistically significant difference was showed between the two groups in β2 microglobulin before treatment ( P>0. 05) . After treatment,β2 microglobulin concentration in the treatment group was (3. 11±0. 28) and was (4. 75±0. 36) in the control group,there was significant difference between two groups ( t=9. 094,P<0. 05); the total effective rate of the treatment group was 83. 33%,59. 52% in the control group,there was significant difference between two groups ( t=5. 833,P=0. 016) . The incidence of adverse reactions in the treatment group was 9. 52%,the control group was 26. 19%,and the two groups were statistically significant ( t=3. 977,P=0. 046) . Conclusion The clinical effect of Lenalidomide combined with modified MP regimen in the treatment of MM is better than that of conventional treatment,the total effective rate is highwe,with less adverse reactions.
10.The long-term effect of embolization of bronchial artery in patients with massive hemoptysis

Objective To explore the long-term effect of bronchial artery, embolization (BAE) in patients with massive hemoptysis and the factors associated with prognosis. Methods Ninety six patients underwent BAE from 2002 to 2008 for the management of mass hemoptysis were retrospectively analyzed. Of them, BAE was successfully performed in 94 patients (mean age 43 years, age range 21 to 80 years), including active or inactive tuberculosis (89 cases), bronchiectasis (2 cases) and pulmonary carcinoma (5 cases). Results BAE resulted in an immediate cessation of hemoptysis in 94 of the initial 96 patients (97.9%). The rate of hemoptysis controlling at 30 d, 90 d, 1 year and 2 year after the BAE was 93.6% (88/94), 86. 2% (81/94), 81.9% (77/94) and 78.7% (74/94) respectively. Haemoptysis recurred in 9 patients in 30 days after the BAE due to missing of target vessel or recanalization. Five patients had recurrence of haemoptysis after 30 days and 2 patients recurrent after 90 days due to development of systemic collateral, progress in primary lesions and secondary infection. Conclusion BAE is an effective technique in the emergency treatment of massive hemoptysis. Avoiding missing target vessel, selecting the appropriate embolic material, paying attention to treatment of the primary disease after BAE, and preventing infection would improve the effects of BAE for massive hemoptysis.
